Whenever enjoying your travel videos, I used to find out the two words ㅡ something “ordinary and extraordinary” at the same time in your travel videos. I reckon that if one sufficiently develops "his or her ability to find ‘the extraordinary’ in ‘the ordinary’ (and vice versa)," one would be able to live an ordinary and extraordinary life as once. I appreciate your superlative travel videos so much as something stimulating and motivating me for your unparalleled traveling around the world, joyfully even including my country! Paradoxically, I try to suggest to those who enjoy your incomparable travel videos to listen to Franz Kafka, in order to sufficiently develop "our ability to find ‘the extraordinary’ in ‘the ordinary’ (and vice versa)." “You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.” (From Seoul)
High praise once again! Love that idea of both “ordinary” and “extraordinarily” at the same time. Interesting reference to Kafka and the below quote absolutely appeals to us. Thanks again for watching and for another heartfelt and thought provoking comment 🙏😃
Beautifully judged and executed... a work of genius! Far better than any travelogue you get on TV, not least because you really feel like you're there.
Oman has certainly captured our hearts! A country we will happily return to again and again. Must have been great getting the chance to live there for a couple of years.
That’s very much appreciated! We love your country, having visited now 3 times, and our conversation often turns to the subject of returning. Thank you for your kind welcome and we look forward to the day we’re in Oman again 😃
This is incredible, I absolutely love watching you guys, makes me well happy. I’d love to sit in a bothy and listen to your stories and wisdom again ! I have a quick question if that’s alright? I’m just wondering what picture profile you use on your Sony Camera and how heavy the colour grading is? As always, I look forward to the next one 🙌🏼
Ah, the thought of sitting in a bothy enjoying a good chat and a few beers sounds mighty fine right now! With regards to the picture profile, we shoot using the Cine 2 profile (custom setting the white balance at the time) and colour correct it with the Leeming Lut for Sony cameras, which gets the footage to a standard Rec.709. We then apply a film stock (usually at about 60-80%) using FilmConvert Nitrate which we have as a plugin for Premiere Pro. After that it’s a case of adjusting light and shadow in each clip to make sure each sequence matches tonally. Sounds a lot but the process is pretty streamlined these days. In the end I would say the footage is corrected then graded without the effect being too heavy. Hope that helps 😃
Wonderful shots, Kim and Del. I've flown over this area several times and thought it would be so much better to travel on the ground. Not sure where/when all that springs water collects. How would my pipes be accepted in the still evening air - a pibroch perhaps?
Thank you! Yes, this area is fantastic to explore in a 4x4 and there are a number of wadis with water in them more or less year-round. A pibroch would do nicely I'm sure!
Hi there, we would say that the drive to Jebel Shams is perfectly fine. A dirt road with a few twists and turns but in really good condition with no scary drop-offs. We would recommend a good 4x4 to feel comfortable but we’ve seen locals on this road in their city cars 😃

What’s the drive to Jebel Shams like? Bit of a nervous driver here but I’ve heard it’s ok compared to some of the stuff you guys did!
