Own both the FX3 and 30. Can confirm all you've said. I'll also say that profile for profile, the colors on the 30 are a smidge nicer than the FX3. You also get functional animal eye detect. The children were ruthless 👨🏻🦲
Couldn't agree more! The FX30 is absolutely one of the best values/options out there! I have the 6700 and love it for my use. I would love to get a fx30 dow the road if i ever feel the need but right now the 6700 is more than good enough. Plus having the mechanical shutter is important to me bc i take alot of pictures of my kids.
I've been looking forward to switching to full-frame for like a year at this point. For a bunch of reasons I've kind of decided not to meaning my FX30 remains my main camera and it's just so excellent. Couldn't agree more with everything in this video.
Love all your videos and your thoughts and various stuff. Can you make a Studio tour or show the gadgets you use and how you shoot and edit stuff. You workflow. It would be really great to know for many people.
I've been waiting since before the lockdowns meaning to upgrade my main work camera which is an a7rii..... i ended up buying an inbetween camera: zve10 waiting to recover financially, work changed since but still wish to upgrade and i'm somewhere between the fx30 and fx3 OR just going nuts and buying a more complete FS5/FS7 setup.
Hey Thomas, first off, loving the cut, I really hope u don’t lose anymore bets tho. The only camera I’ve had is the a7iv and while it has its quirks it works for me… the fx30/ fx3 has always intrigued me because of the tally lights 🤣😂(a dumb reason to want a camera I know but it’s so cool) if I’m being honest I don’t care much about crop factors, 1000 fps footage, or how much dynamic range a camera has, as long as it’s reliable and I’m pleased with the images it produces I’m all set… but those tally lights I tell you 😂 so cool!!… thanks again for a great vid
I was really close to getting it but I also love doing photography so I needed I hybrid camera. I ended up going for the Sony a6700👍🏼 I’ll probably get a fx30 in the future tho
My recommendation is definitely the Tamron 17-70, large zoom range, f2.8 and has image stabilization. And i personally use freewell’s vnds but haven’t really tested others
FX30 Ninja V recording ProRes RAW Laowa Nanomorph 27mm Davinci Resolve color Boom. “Netflix approved” quality for around $3300, less than the FX3 body.

A6700 is a fantastic camera for that, the same quality as the fx30 but in a hybrid style body!
I am planning to buy a a6700, more in my budget or would you advice me to go for fx30?

Thanks! I’ve been thinking about doing a studio tour soon yeah!

Haha it’s not my favorite look but it sure is easy!
The tally lights are seriously great! The a7iv is sweet though, great camera
This video shot what lens bro? 20 mm 1.8?
Yup! It’s one of my favs for talking head shots on Sony apsc (i know it’s a full frame lens but it looks great!)

Got a video coming out in the next couple of days comparing the two! For hybrid shooting, the a6700 is definitely the way to go!
@@thomasjmcclure awesome! I’m looking forward to watching it!🙌🏼
Can you recommend anyone for overall good zoom lense for the fx30 and vnd filter? Thanks
My recommendation is definitely the Tamron 17-70, large zoom range, f2.8 and has image stabilization. And i personally use freewell’s vnds but haven’t really tested others
Sigma 18-50 f2.8 is tiny zoom lens
FX30 is still underrated imo
I used to think it was overrated… until i got one
@@thomasjmcclure fair enough 💪😎
