      Tout à fait. Beaucoup de personnes dont des médias et des testeurs disent qu’il est difficile d’avoir le son Jaco. Quelle erreur elle sonne aussi bien comme une contre basse que sur un boost +15db @800hz avec un eq parametric

    Killer playing. Been looking at basses because I’m told I “must” choose a “Father’s Day” gift. If they can’t gift me the chops, at least I can get the bass 😅

      I hear ya! I wish I knew how to develop the chops...people say practice, practice, practice; but what to practice and in what sequence? I started on bass 4-yrs ago after playing keyboard 40-yrs...the fretless just speaks to me. Right now, I practice from my books, online and playing along with others on YT. Keep the faith....this bass soloing is awesome. Also, I don’t know what his signal chain is but I really like the sound of his Portamento...others have their’s sounding almost too woody or muted...peace.

    Major props to you for the whole thing here. I just picked up one of the Ibanez's and it's incredible! But it takes real talent especially to keep intonation on the high end of that ridiculously long fingerboard, and the chords. Well done!

    Awesome bass playing!!! I am desperate to buy this bass, but need to save up. It's a whole lot of fretless for the money! You play so well, your intonation is spot on. I used to use a Warwick 5 String fretless but after many years it gave up the ghost. The truss rod was broken sadly following a dodgy setup. So I am gutted and bass less. My old Warwick only had some dots on the side of the neck, plus I was beginning to struggle with the D shaped chunky neck, I am now very disabled and wheelchair reliant. How does the neck feel? And is the bass much lighter than say a Warwick bass or a Precision bass? I am attracted by the sound and the small body, and I hear it has the C shaped neck I am after. Please, I would love to know. It is a long wait to order these basses here in the UK. Over a month to deliver.

    • @espenskeie
      @espenskeie  3 года назад +3

      Thank you for the kind words. A warwick thumb fretless is on my wish list 😁 it’s hard to define the difference between this Ibanez and for ex. the warwick as I haven’t played one since the 90’s.
      But I know that the Ibanez is not as heavy. It is maybe the smoothest fretless I have, actually I swapped it for a 4 string version 😅
      I have made some more videos with some of the other fretless basses that I have.
      I prefer some dots as well, just for navigation purpose, but when it all comes to an end it is the pitch I follow. I used to practice in the dark when I was younger.
      However I do have a Jaco Relic fretless with line markers and I really like that bass as well.
      Ibanez is famous for their slim necks, and in this case they have nailed it. The 4 string version has probably the slimmest neck in my collection.

      @@espenskeie I eventually purchased this bass, and it's gorgeous! It's so easy to play, and like you say, the neck is very slim. Like you I have the 5 string fretless. The spond is phenomenal -I find myself using just the piezo alone most of the time. The weight is just perfect and the line markers are a great help. However I was initially thrown off because the positioning of the dots are positioned as they would on a regular fretted bass, unlike the Warwick fretless where the dots were on the actual fret position, and there weren't many, but I am used to the Ibanez now, although I need to really practice more to get my playing back to where I was at. Straight out the box it was incredibly well set up, of course it took a bit of time to fully settle in being new. i am so glad I got this bass. You play so incredibly well. I am no where near as good as you are.

    Very good play 👍 (and sound 😋)
    I suppose stock flatwound strings? (d'addario?) - What tone settings on the bass? - Some effects?
    Thanks.

    • @espenskeie
      @espenskeie  2 года назад

      Thank you for your kind words. Yes those are flatwounds, it came with the bass. I do use some reverb in Logic Pro, not sure what it was... Basically I am no fan of effects on bass, but a little reverb is usually fine 🙂
      I must say that this Ibanez is amazing, however, I swapped it for a 4 string version with the slimmest neck ever! Best buy I can think of in the lower price segment.

      Hi Brian, thanks for commenting, actually I have used the same setting more or less my whole life, bridge PU on max, neck PU off, and tone knob on max something...
      I always think that I should improve my sound focus, be more aware, make adjustments etc..
      However, I always end up doing the same "nothing" to my settings... I focus more on blending in with the other guys I play with and it seems to work for me.

    Does your SRF705 sound like it has a mild chorus effect built-in to the preamp?? Mine sure does. Somewhat annoying.

    • @espenskeie
      @espenskeie  Год назад

      Hi Daniel, I havent noticed, other than it sings so much that I sort of agree. However, could the chorus effect be triggered by using both the piezo AND the magnetic at the same time? In some situations one could wish for an Anti-chrous pedal, this might come handy here 🙂

    Er det noe merkbar forskjell på 4 og 5 str mht lyden?

    • @espenskeie
      @espenskeie  Год назад +1

      Hei, nei jeg synes ikke det er noen merkbar forskjell. Disse bassene har så veldig stor spennvidde pga piezo + vanlig pickup. Og spillbarheten er bra på begge.
      Synes det er helt utrolig at man får kjøpt slike instrumenter til 10-15k kroner.

    • @korgen-rock
      @korgen-rock Год назад

      Har en 705 jeg vurderer å kjøpe men lurer på om det er feil med bassen; Piezo mikk helt av og begge pickuper på fullt så er det veldig lav lyd. Skrur jeg opp volum på piezo kommer lyden. Bare bridge eller neck pickup er det normalt volum. Kan no umulig være rett?@@espenskeie

    • @espenskeie
      @espenskeie  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for the compliment. I am not 100% sure about the settings, but I do believe I used my "default" bass setting, which is bridge pickup at max, neck pickup at 0, and all tone controls in mid (zero) position.

    • @zeljkozuber6629
      @zeljkozuber6629 2 года назад

      @@espenskeie Thanks. In general how are you satisfyed with the bass? I have just sold GWB35 because of neck stability problem, thou I liked the tone, it had tons of mwuah which for me is the most important thing. Half an hour ago I ordered SRF 705 but I'm woried that portamento fretboard is too soft for round wound strings which are best for mwuah fretless singing. I'd apppreciate your opinion.

    • @espenskeie
      @espenskeie  2 года назад +1

      @@zeljkozuber6629 I once had the GWB35, it didn't quite work for me. This Ibanez is perfect for my style of playing, slim neck which I find very stable. Not sure how it would work with standard strings, I can imagine they would start eat the fretboard. However, the sound is really powerful without roundwounds, so I recommend you check out the fabric strings that it comes with first.
      On the other hand, I guess you could coat the neck with epoxy or other type of finish.
      The tone variations are really wide, espeically due to the piezo that you have on top of the magnetic pickups.
      I swapped my 705 for a 704 as I prefer four string basses.

    • @zeljkozuber6629
      @zeljkozuber6629 2 года назад +1

      @@espenskeie Yeah I'm also affraid that rounds will eat fretboard. I'll return the bass. I am not a handyman and puting epoxy is rocket science for me. I'll wait for GWB205 which has Ebony. BUT that will be a long wait...... 4+ months.

      Hi Jim, thanks for the comment.
      I just plugged it straight into my soundcraft ui24r mixer and then used Logic PRO as daw. Not sure if I did much tweaking on the sound other than some reverb. I’m not very much into sound processing. I just play.
      However, this bass has an amazing tone and pick-up system. Must be some of the best value for the bucks.
      I swapped that bass and got a 4 string version instead. It’s like magic.
