I'm up to the plat section and being a plat myself I wanted to see how I compared. First thing that I saw is demos, which I just realised I barely ever go for. I need to work on that. One thing I think me and my teams do better is we rarely double/triple commit. I also so far saw that the plats didn't take advantage of the kickoffs for they are basically guaranteed to get the ball if landen is not diagonal but the opposing team is. I'm loving this video so far, Keep up the good work striped
I am delighted that the SSL was impressed with me, I made a switch from Switch to PC, which helped out a ton. I am currently in Diamond III about to be Champ I. And as a member of the Diamond community you just gotta go for it sometimes without double committing. I have to personally say that my teammates were indecisive at times. The higher you go in rank,the higher the toxicity level in game.When I was told I used to think it can't get much more toxic than that but oh was I wrong!It gets worse every rank you go up and I'm diamond/champ now.Never a full moment,that's for sure,I can't imagine what grand champ is like but unless I get a computer I'll probably never have to worry about finding out.Landen your absolutely one of the best I have seen play this game!!Oh and great video btw as well
I can say the ranks have changed in some playlist. Ive been stuck in diamond for awhile now. But in snowday and dropshot ive dropped to plat 1. But in 3s and 2s im d3. I think there are much more smurfs in the other playlist. Im always playing people is gc tags even though im in plat lobbies.
not necessarily smurfs, in my case I’m gc1/c3 and I’m around diamond-silver in special gamemodes because I never play them and I only actually played them when I was around gold, so I placed bad and never played again

I think they also changed the ranking system a little in snowday and dropshot.Hoops hasn't changed much but I'm also a couple ranks lower than I used to be in those and I used to be a little higher.Seems like its tougher to get out of plat than it's ever been before in dropshot and snowday
Honestly wouldve been a great idea with the premise about the difference between season 1 and season 8. I was actually thinking you meant he was gonna play against the exact same teams he did last time. THAT would be cool. Like get the players he played against last time to 3v1 him again and see if he can still beat them. 🤷🤷

Hey Striped, a video idea, you could try 1 bronze, 1 silver and 1 gold. Then if he wins it goes to 1 silver 1 gold one plat etc. Basically the same as this video but with different ranks.
I think if landon played it like it was a 1v3 he could have won against the champs. normally small overcommits are worth it in normal rl, but in a 1v3 you can't even do the smallest overcommit.
The thing about the champs is even if they weren’t mechanically better than the diamonds they would’ve won. Knowing when to challenge, not throwing away possession, bumping/boost stealing is all decision making diamonds didnt have.
Having spent the last 6 months in plat, what gets them stuck there is their lack of emotional control. They will consistently panic and double and triple commit on saves and corner shots and completely forget to rotate.
Hard stuck plat ugh, it’s rough because they can have a great play and next a total whiff and it throws of the defense with the whiffs. Love the game and can’t wait ti rank up where the game is more smooth
What I find interesting is that the lobbies Im always put in, they look nothing like these games. There are some golds that making making aerial touches off the walls and stuff like that. Im a Gold III/Plat 1 in 3s.

Sometimes when matchmaking fucks up we encounter an unranked duo who's doing placement matches and once they told me they were diamonds because I straight up thought they were smurfing but they were airdribbling like crazy. That happened a few times now, unranked (probably diamonds) airdribbling on us for their placements. That sucks. I doubt that we'd get champs doing their placement matches against low plats like us, so it's gotta be diamonds. And they look nothing like the diamonds in this one. I'm EU though, so maybe it's regional difference? But the diamonds in this video were barely even just going for aerials at all. The champs look more like what we encounter sometimes going against diamonds in their placement matches.

I remember seeing very mechanical players in plat 3 and diamonds even attempting flip resets while even as a champ now i never did a flip reset or scored an air dribble in a game. So there are players who play brainless and dont care about rotation but practice flip resets a lot and they are placed in lower ranks because they go for risky plays more than average player
Is there a difference between EU servers and NA? Golds in EU aerial all the time. Quite a few whiffs and no one is airdribbling unless it’s an unranked player, but it still feels like these golds play like EU silvers.
What I've personally noticed in plat 2 in EU is that plats and golds do go for aerials, golds less than plats, but it does happen and both plat and gold do whiff a lot, myself included of course. The other thing I always encounter is that golds in 2s a significant amount of times have a literal perma goalie. Their mate can be in front of our nets, putting shots on our goal but they just don't have a mate who can finish them when we save the shot because they're literally standing still in their net. It's way less frequent in plat, but in gold it almost seems like there's always a perma goalie and sometimes when the goalie feels like moving he'll come from a defense up to our goal, but then their mate turns into the perma goalie and stays in net. I dunno maybe they've all been scarred too much by open nets, but they're not gonna improve and I'm also always wondering how you can have fun just sitting in net for 5 minutes. Also: Sometimes we encounter an unranked duo in ranked who's most probably diamonds doing their placement matches and they airdribble the way that champs do in these videos. Always fun when matchmaking gives you diamonds doing placements. First time I've come across one of those duos I didn't consider that they were doing placement matches and straight up thought they were smurfing so I reported them during the match, but after the match saw that they weren't ranked yet.
