Baron Gautsch - Titanic of the Adriatic Sea

An extraordinary experience was the diving at the "Baron Gautsch" - one of the most famous wrecks in the Adriatic Sea. Today a very nice wreck which forms a source for maritime life it has been a place of tragic Events about one hundret years ago.

I have read "Halte dich dicht an mich und eile ..." (Keep close to me and hurry) An account by one of the survivors of the sinking (Hermann Pfeiffer), written only a few weeks afterward. The survivor lost his wife and the Nanny but managed to safe his little boy. He had to go to WWI soon after, so he wrote down his memories for the child, in case he wouldn't survive the war. It is absolutly heartbreaking and he doesn't even downplay how the survivors fought "like animals" to keep afloat.
The "little boy's" daughter published it a few years ago and I found it second hand.
