Thanks Mike, the tower is a great idea though it was not a good day on my visit. Apparently a lot of those units are gone or scrapped now! Cheers Gregg
Drool, drool, drool! I wouldn't be able to pull myself away from this place! The size of Bailey is mind boggling. Gotta go see it! I love switchers - unsung warriors - so glad you made this one a star! . . . Diana
Glad you like it Diana! You can't see all the yard at once...even from the tower!! I'd love to know how they run the place and stop trains from hitting each other..as most tracks are not signalled in yards! I wish I got more of this unit but I have lots more from Bailey...so stay tuned! Thanks for watching1 Cheers Gregg.
Thanks very much John, I got lucky that day! There were a few there but this was the only one I saw working ,plus it's sound cut through the wind better than the newer units. Cheers Gregg.
Great video, it's amazing how many locomotives that have been sold or scraped, that are in the video, with the down turn of business. The Macs along with the Dash 8, are either stored or sold to the NS. I remember going Bailey back in the 80's, seeing many foreign locomotives. It's a great place to visit, with the new Golden Spike, and traveling east to see the three track main. Again, Gregg, great video, stay cool down there. It's freezing here in Nebraska. Cheers Terry
Thanks again Terry! I just found out that 1221 is no longer there and is now at a sand facility...so there you go! When I was in Denver, there were dozens, or more, UP locos in the yard that looked like they were in storage also. The tower is great, even though it was cold and windy but I'm so glad Bob got me out there! Off to work tonight on overtime to make sure all the New Years Eve revellers get home on the trains...LOL I will see 2018 in at the depot ....or trackside .if we get a Signal fault :-( Stinking hot and I can see by the yard Cam, it's a bit chilly .up there. Cheers Gregg.
FishplateFilms Well short of a raucous party, I could think of far worse places to ring in the New Year than trackside! Maybe I'll take a dram out to the Peavine at midnight then howl at the full moon! . . . Diana
Happy New year Diana! I got home a few hours ago, a peaceful night if you get my drift:-). That's a good idea to Toast the Peavine with a Dram! Too damn hot to enjoy one here! Cheers Gregg
Wow that is one gutsy switcher Gregg! I think I counted five full sized locos being pushed by it at the end. That was awesome! Cheers and happy new years! Dan
That is too cool Jac!! I'm so jealous !! If I had 20/20 vision I'd be driving trains tomorrow..LOL Are you still on the rails? Thanks for watching. Gregg.
man that video was too short.. i could have watched this for at least 5 more mins. cool to see how busy that was. nice commentary at the start. I myself liked seeing the one C N loco in the mix of all that .. thanks for sharing more of your trip
I know Sparky... but that's all I got of that unit, but a lot more of Bailey Yard on the way! There were a few ring in locos there in the sea of yellow..LOL. Glad you liked it and t,hanks for watching. Gregg :-)
Yes , there were a few at the time I visited, but this one has since been sold to a private yard. If you go through the comments, you'll find out where it's gone..I can't remember but one of the workers at the industry runs it ! Cheers Gregg
hi Gregg.. that facility is ginormous... awesome video.. be sure to watch the next vid i post ... some one you visited has visited me...thanks for sharing.. vinny
Great video - informative and entertaining. Just a side note - if the NA in the title is short for Nebraska - it should be NE. But then, with your vast international audience it probably means North America!!! Thanks again, your videos are always fun.
Thanks George! Damn , you're right , I always thought it was NA, I've seen it dozens of times...I'll fix it when my internet speed gets better!! Glad you like the videos and thank you for watching. Cheers Gregg.
Thanks for sharing this day we had there. There is rarely any time during the day that something is not moving around in the yard. For more information and a live camera view, checkout the website goldenspiketower.com/.
My pleasure Bob, couldn't of done it without you Sir! Lots more from Bailey to come Bob including our time at the platform. I check out the live cam from time to time...a bit chilly there at the moment!! Thank you again for your hospitality sir! Cheers Gregg.
I have ran 1221 before. U.P. has sold the unit to a short line in southern Illinois. It's a old coal mine railyard in Percy Illinois. The unit is still being used every day loading Frac sand railcars. I work there and I see it every day. Thanks for sharing. I have a video of it on my RUclips channel.
Hi Eric, thats amazing...did you work at Bailey Yard? How long ago did they sell it? I'll check out your video and see it in action again! Thanks for watching. Cheers Gregg.
On my train bucket list that's for sure.
You need to get there Peter...you're a bit closer than me..LOL
Gregg.
Nice perspective on engine shop ops. Gotta love the two units still in SP livery! Mike

One of the best if not the best videos I’ve seen of an SW1500 working. It’s a type you really don’t see too much anymore.
Thanks very much John, I got lucky that day! There were a few there but this was the only one I saw working ,plus it's sound cut through the wind better than the newer units.
Cheers Gregg.
Enjoyed that, Gregg. Thanks for sharing! Happy New Year!
