The Effect is a book about research design and causal inference. How can we use data to learn about the world? How can we answer questions about whether X causes Y even if we can't run a randomized experiment? The book covers these things and plenty more. These videos are meant to accompany the book, although they can also be viewed on their own.
This video relates to material found in Chapter 17 of the book.

One common place to apply event studies is in finance. In this video I go through a few different ways finance researchers apply event study methods to look at the impact of events on asset returns. Of course, these same ideas can be applied outside of finance too, if the setting is right!

But how to know if the correlation is also a causality?

See the chapter and also the first half of the book, more generally. Basically, if your before/after comparison is capable of removing all variation *not* due to the event you want the effect of, you're golden. www.theeffectbook.net/ch-EventStudies.html
