Can really see the amount of work required in this video, and your skill too. Excellent stuff. Makes me slightly jealous, I wish I had access to a workshop and tools like yours. I could lose myself for hours, days, weeks even. When I think of the amount of money I've spent on guitars, I can't help thinking, I wish I'd invested some of it in a workshop, so I could build my own. Ho hum. Maybe I'll get there one day. :)
That is a great way to Do the blade switch cut. I may have to try that... I always do toggle. Because that's my preference. But I have a ton of blade switches.. lol. I should eventually use one or Three...lol
You seem to be a lot happier these days. Seems like an odd thing to say but it brings a more enthusiastic tone to your videos - for the better. I hope you keep making the videos because I've learnt so much from you.
That's a Gorgeous Quilt Maple top. I wish I had tools and supplier like this... I'm making a double neck now. A Dean Stealth ML Style.. .but i only have a circular saw. Router. Drill. Cordless drill.. jigsaw. Belt sander.. And a few clamps.. all my tools are hand held... So my builds are Very Different in construction... But I love that You're Showing a Double neck. Maybe someday You'll try a Dean Stealth Style ML -Double Neck Build.. (P.S... no one has ever Done one... The ML shape Double Neck they have. Bug Not the Stealth. Pointy one)
Great job Derek! I really like this cherry burst too! I also liked how you carved the neck slot down, pretty cool my man! I can't wait to watch finished vid! Quick question, I put Angelus dye on a guitar body. If I spray it with sanding sealer (5/6 coats?more?how many?), then can I put wipe on poly (water based) on top of that for the finish? Derek, thanks so much for your time, I know you are busy. Pam 😉 Oh and real quick, you said you had some neat purple fabric, where did you get it so I can take a look see? Again, thanks!
Glad I found this (I do subscribe though, so it wasn’t difficult 😊); I have a twin neck Epiphone SG and if that’s not enough, wanted to build another twin, although this time somewhat different... I fancy a ‘standard’ six string lead, but with the second neck being a four string bass (!) I’m sure it’s doable, so am interested in anything build-wise that’s twin-neck orientated....
Is Your 12 String neck wider than a normal 6 String neck.. I got a Schecter maple fretboard neck 24 fret. On local Guitar shop. Out of parts bin.. for $25. For 12 String side..I'm planning on getting a Ibanez GIO 7 String. And grinding down the sides to bring it slightly wider than the 6 String side. As You might tell.. I'm completely Low Bucks. ..lol But I have like 8 home built customs. And I am happy playing them. No.. they're not without imperfections. They're better than the average layman's Garage builds though
Very cool to watch from a luthier and a carpenter's perspective.

Great job Derek! Damn, that really turned out great - what a stain. :)

Great work! Is that a stack of a Jack Daniels barrel tops we see at the end?
Awesome job as always !! :)
Outstanding D,but did you ever consider a set neck version, like the FMT TELE?
I prefer orange colour and i think this guitar was more beutiful with that orange colour.
Wouldn't that be the same if you just did the red without the orange? What exactly did the orange help?
Another awesome build. Do you know of any online sources for Korina?
its a hit or miss wood for sure. there are some ebay guys out there.
