      After the past few years...I'm just happy! lol

    • @labibrahman
      @labibrahman 4 дня назад +1

      The stats defense of Sengun is hiding his true weakness: if he's matched up with a center who is both strong enough to not be moved by post play and athletic enough to keep up with the footwork, Sengun's game is completely countered and his efficiency regresses well below the heights his aggregate numbers have him at. Duren is the most recent example, but this has happened a few other times now.
      He can cook heavy slow guys with footwork and lighter faster guys with size, but he has really struggled against strong athletic bigs. Thankfully there aren't many of them in the league, but the Rockets future will run through Lively, Wemby, iHart/Chet in the next five years and I worry that they will neuter Sengun 1v1

    Amazing stats and analysis 🙏
    I am still waiting for Reed and Sengun chemistry
    Dream:
    - Reed shots 3pt on high volume
    - Amen + Jabari offball wings cutters, rebounders
    - Jalen is iso backcourt monster and clutch 3pt guy
    - Sengun is iso frontcourt postup monster, and clutch paint guy

    My biggest take away is how much I want to keep our young core together. First few weeks of season i have found myself willing to part with either Jalen, reed, cam at different points in the season. Now i am all for keeping them together. Super excited about what they can become under Ime 💯💪🏼🚀

    I like that we found out how important Jabari is to our team. Dillon has skills, but he is not a rebounder or passer. He is still young and learning too. The game Fred was out I was focused on how much better we would be defensively with Amen at point. But we were not better. Also what was interesting is Ime talking with Robert Williams after the Portland game. I'm guessing Williams is quick enough to play switching defense? I think that was key to Ime's success in Boston is that Al Hortford and Robert Williams could both play switching defense. Teams are targeting Sengun on defense nearly every game. It puts Alpi in a position where he has to make a lot of decisions. I'm sure that is wearing his brain down by the fourth quarter. He looks lost out there a lot. Probably getting Williams could be helpful to getting our defense back on track. Landale needs to go. I like Tate but we are deepest at the wing so that just makes sense to trade him. I don't want to lose Cam. He is too important to our future. Naz Reid is a free agent next season. That is the guy I want on our team to share front court minutes with Jabari and Sengun.

    I think Ime wants to use Sengun like Tim Duncan in the mid-post, Jokic in the high-post and Sabonis in low. The fact that Ime's vision could work out and Alpi could be the top center in the league just shows that our coach knows what he's doing.

Awesome job putting all the numbers together and then breaking them down in a way that makes sense. I have already shared this video to four other people that I know will appreciate the work you put into this video. Keep up the good work.

    Great video as always! Sengun has been missing around the rim, because: 1- Thinking too much as he is mentally adjusting his and the team’s new playing style and coaches’ expectations. 2-Physically adjusting his muscle mass.
    He knows he can’t sleep on defence much but in the offence he is leas focused.
    He will be fully ready in the playoffs.

    Incredible content Frank - your analysis is always informative. My take is that the Rockets win in a way that your casual fan has a hard time understanding because no one else does it quite the way we do. We are second in the West and still improving. Injuries may lower our win total but if we are healthy going into the playoff we will surprise people. I think we can win two series. Ten or twelve games in I predicted 54 wins. If healthy we can beat everyone in the West except OKC.

    Takeaway from midpoint in season is that we STILL need better shooting. This largely means efficiency and I’m not sure some of our vets are helping in that regard.
    So if they aren’t helping, and the playmaking is improving then there will be some big changes this offseason.
    Hopefully this is moot come playoff time, and they all prove me wrong.

    Is the starters w/o stat skewed towards positive if the opposition also have starters? I think it has more value as a relative interpretation in between starters than an absolute one.
    I really like your deep dives on players, can we get some dedicated videos for players please? For example, for Sengun, it also looks like his passing bag got smaller, or green is getting better at reading the defenses, do these match with actual data, what is your take on these?

    This is why we need Cam Johnson they should trade for him since Smith could still be out upwards of six more weeks. He is better than Smith anyway and could stay the starter from now on. The rumored Williams trade would be a small help - maybe but insignificant. Even with a cam trade, we would still have amplexassets to go for Booker or Fox without touching the core just expiring contracts and a 1st of ours and a couple seconds should do it for Cam.

  • @RobCortez0416

    Frank, great work. My biggest takeaway after watching the video is the data back up what my eyes have been seeing. Jabari needs to be back in the starting lineup and locked up this off-season.

    been thinking this for a while now, but he kinda plays 45 yr old LeBron, or if his athleticism and his jumper left him.

    My biggest takeaway is that I never doubted Green was able to play much better, but I didn’t think he’d be able to play this much smarter. And the decision to let him lead, coupled with having at least one of the other athletic freaks on the floor with him had allowed him to get out and run and play to his strengths, look for easy kills and if they’re not there then we can slip into a halfcourt set. That gets him to the rim quicker and that is the trigger for his aggression and confidence, which then feeds into his shooting. Before he had to wait for a turnover or similar to get that engine going.
    And all this matters because when he’s cooking we’re damned hard to beat.

    Some of The human factor is excluded, not only the current value but also the opponents who work against it. Stats only show you time and performance for that moment of the day and compare it with another moment and other factors that counteract it. There is no formula for chemistry on that day, neither the feeling nor the mood is in the stats. One day 40 the other only 10 otherwise it wouldn't be a game. 🙃

    Cade Cunningham said on TNT last night that he has a "competitive rivalrry" with Jalen Green .. cuz they've been playing against each other since High School, being the #1 & #2 Picks in 2021, etc. .. so when Cade sees Jalen (& the Rockets), he's coming for "Somebody's Neck" to further prove he deserved to the #1 Pick !! Cade & Shaq were saying this last night, For Real !! But Anyway, this is WHY Cade was soo aggressive !!! When healthy, Cade "ain't the One" to play with !! .. The Rockets don't play Detroit again this season, so the Rockets gotta be more mentally prepared for Cade next season.

    • @ddenizc
      @ddenizc 4 дня назад

      This is sad but true :) , jalen will never be consistant , why because he has 3 tricks and thats it, similar with sengun but his tricks are harder to defend or will give other teammates advantages, Jalen has no game iq whatsoever, all time greats always had the iq, so we ll see what happens but this team cant win in playoff series, they need solid shooters, a great playmaker, and guess what another shooter :) , this way the first and the second team are constantly winning, and in the long run there is redundency for injuries etc.

      @ not sure if ya noticed how many times Frank mentioned if they 'click' when they click... we see elite lvl of clicking between 2 tribble double machines w high iq in Jokic and Westbrook.. jalen cant produce for his teammates he never did and never showed the potential for that. so the clicking which in frank hopes will never blossom. 4 years of data proves it. jalen is a great scorer when he is on heater 'microwave'. team has success bcs of Ime and the structure he brings, he makes players better, what we clearly see. after the playoffs the next step is to form ''the elite team'' with players who ''click'' and perform at an elite lvl. and i really like cade who scores, produces assists, it's not fox or booker, it is cade in my opinion.

    You are delusional. Get some type of intervention. Sengun does not box out consistently. And most of his rebounds fall into his hands. He never gets one about the rim. His offense is worse because he does not have a shot he can make consistently. That is because he cannot shoot. He never learned. He is the only player I have ever seen whose shots release point are overwhelmingly below the rim. He does not jump and cannot run the floor. One thing you said though that was true is that he is lazy.

Well here we are, in fact Sengun has regressed.. but im the hater for simply asking how do you know he will be a better shooter this coming season... The truth is, when you are at the forefront of unpopular opinions, but pointing out facts no one wants to admit, people want to label you a hater, until 2 weeks later they say the same stuff that you been saying... I want to get my "Soja Boy" on... I was the first one pointing out Sengun defensive liability, and his non existence of a shot, i was the first one this year pointing outSengun struggles at finishing at the rim... I think he is way better at defending and actually a big plus on defensive ratings in the sheets. However, his stamina is and will always be short of both battling on both sides of the court as Ime expects a defence in any case, which then affects his offence ratings in a bad way. He looks like out of breath especially if there is a good defender on the other side.
      So if he can’t improve his shooting, and hit mid range regularly with proper percentage and improve to hit open 3s, he will be like this more or less
