MyHeritage and FTDNA give some very weird results for English. My father whose grandmother is from England gets about 45% Irish, Sottish and Welsh, 45% North & Western European and the rest Scandinavian. He is 0% English. On FTDNA he gets 0% Great Britain even though there is a large percentage of English and Scottish ancestry. I'm not sure what is going on with these results.
@@davidirwin1549it can happen, it means dna inherited received the outliner of zero brit dna. I think albeit being an ignoramus that it is the exception that proves the rule.
Kind of a similar situation here. Got a 50% Italian and even Greek and northern Macedonian blood whereas it should have been portuguese. I have a well detailed family tree going back to 1100s and there should be no mistakes there since they were all nobles
Richard Branson also came up with a small South Asian result One of his ancestors worked in India during the colonial period. Hence intermarriage took place although in those days and even in India today mixed marriages are frowned upon
it isnt random. it is an ethnicity estimate. some people inherit dna from different ppl in the family. his mom for example may have inherited genetics from a great great grandparent which the child (jack) didnt. It isnt random. It’s just how genetics works.
His brother Thomas just inherited english and scandinavian dna whereas all the other members have good chunks of nortwestern europe, irish/scottish/welsh and even italian
@@jackwn1405 His north western european shows not up, which is because it shows up as english (Its really similar) There are even examples where a mother got north western european and her daughter got the same % but completely as scandinavian and not north western. I would maybe try ancestrydna or for gods will maybe myheritage will update their ethnicity estimate once.
Hi, I'm just trying to add to my family tree. My Grandfather is Willian Nuttall from around Astley, Leigh in Lancs and then Doncaster. Any crossover with you family?
Hi Peter, There’s no William Nuttall’s in my paternal line, there’s a lot of Nuttall’s in the east Lancashire like Haslingden, Rossendale and Clitheroe areas… my Nuttall line comes from Clitheroe.
That is so cool...thanx for posting pics as well...
Glad you enjoyed it
I'm also English. On MyHeritage I got 53.6% Irish, Scottish & Welsh, 37.8% North & Western European, 5.8% Iberian, 2.8% South Asian.
everyone knows what this south asian is

Me and my brother only share 34% DNA, so you can see how there can be a noticeable difference between us.

My brother is quite bit shorter (5’9) and darker than myself with brown eyes and I’m fairer around 3 to 4 inches taller (6’1) with grey eyes.
Super cool man !!!
Very interesting

my brother got 69.9% north-west european but I got 37.9% english and he got no english at all but I got 12.9% north-west european?!
Something is wrong with both MyHeritage and FTDNA when they calculate the English/Great Britain %'s.
@@davidirwin1549Indeed, I'm actually doing a 23 & me and should get my results soon since they have the highest database possible.
Why do My Heritage say north and west European and Irish, Scottish and Welsh for English person but also say English for an English person.
Do you have gedmatch eurogenes k13 of you and your bro ? Why such a difference
jack what is your v2 results?
@@hilalpolat161 don’t have them yet… will update when they come

tis interesting unless you tell us your familys origins. Its just soms random results
All born in North west England, with a lot of known ancestors in Lancashire and Cumbria. No foreign ancestors (which known) going back to around 1750.
@@jackwn1405I still consider you fully English tbh, I think it's an agenda to stop people caling themselves english
O ese expecting a little more Irish
Tus padres no tienen irlandés, escocés y gales y tu si. Supongo que esta etnia es similar a la inglesa y my heritage las confundió.

This is only maternal family, my Dad hasn’t done a test.
No, no es similar. Los irlandeses y escoceses son celtas, los ingleses no, ellos son anglo sajones
@@laurasebastian6036 The ethnic English are a mixture of both north and west European (Anglo-Saxon) and Irish Scottish and Welsh.
