    Thanks for the great video bro! Currently I have a SONY Z9F which is absolutely a stunning LED TV, but I used to be a X930E user. For past 5 years, I was switching between high end LED TVs and OLED TVs, and finally I ended up with Z9F which is even brighter than a X930E. I love the brightness of both X930E and Z9F, definitely brighter than OLED TVs, the only thing I was complaining is that they don’t have HDMI 2.1 ports. As the A90J came out with HDMI 2.1 and brighter panel, I am now planning to change to OLED again...but still not sure about how aggressive the ABL is on A90J. To be honest, the biggest drawback I think for OLED is the ABL, this often drives me crazy when gaming, it is actually the reason why I returned the A9F and LG CX. So I’d like to know if you think the ABL on A90J is acceptable or not, thanks!

    • @SpencersStuffTV
      @SpencersStuffTV 3 года назад +1

      With the settings I have, I notice no ABL. I've been working on getting hdr calibration right for gaming and what not, and overall I've found that this video pretty much holds true to my settings. Gradation preferred is the answer over brightness preferred, but it's important to make sure during initial calibration for the ps5/series x to turn gradation preferred off. I made a new video about how to do that. Since doing that, hdr on this tv is spectacular and I love the picture. I miss the real scene peak brightness, or the full field brightness of my x930e, but the colors and everything are stunning on the a90j. I notice many more hues than I did on the 930e

    Great video man! I wish I had that set lol ... I have the Sony a8h and the picture processing of the x1 chip is amazing, the downside that I'm dealing with my set for some reason in gaming in hdr , when abl kicks in, it becomes very noticable to where it dims the screen but then kicks the brightness up and then dims the screen , but in other hdr format , abl is not really that much noticable which is strange , only with the series x

    Do you get any ABL using gradation preferred? The reason ABL kicks may be due to a combination of setting changes. You increased gamma from -2 default to -1, you're using warm color instead of expert (more accurate if you favor creators intent), and of course when you switch to brightness preferred there's that. I have this same tv and when using the -2 for gamma and expert color with gradient preferred, ABL has yet to kick in even once.

    • @SpencersStuffTV

      I do not get abl to kick in when using gradation preferred. It almost seems in brightness preferred, the processor is trying to raise the brightness of some of the areas real time, and it's causing the panel to overheat. Hey so in "HDR tone mapping", it might be best for you to leave it set to "Off" entirely instead of Gradation Preferred as that makes the A90J set its own HDR tone mapping in place when your console is already doing the tone mapping. So the TV adds an extra unnecessary layer which makes the HDR inaccurate and not what the developers were intending. Turning it Off is the equivalent as HGIG mode on the LG OLEDs as that turns off the TV's HDR tone mapping function and letting the console do it accurately. Doing Gradation Preferred is still making the TV do its own tone mapping when it doesn't need to & increasing the inaccuracy of your HDR gaming picture. Thanks

    Hey, i would like to ask you some questions. My actual tv set is a sony 49"x900e. I love triluminos colours and live colour "high" are so beautiful for me. You had a x930e set from the same lineup that year (2017-2018) with triluminos colour too, are the triluminos pro A90J oled colours similar to x930e/x900e colours? Are they as beautiful as the others? Respecting the sharpness, the image of my tv (49x900e) is really sharpness and crisp, is your 65A90J set crisper than your x930e? If you decide to turn up the "sharpness" level, do you notice an improvement without artefacts? Has you noticed black crush in the image of game mode regarding to ours x900e/x930e tv's? Is a better and crisper la image of the game mode of A90J in comparison to your x930e? The image quality of game mode in Sony led tv's worst two years ago in relation to the previous x900e/x930e, has it changed in new models? is different or better in recent Sony oleds like A8h? A90J? What do you mean with chromatic aberration in oleds? They are many questions but I would like so much you could answer me. It's important to me. I want to improve my experience in that aspects with the A90J oled set. Thank you so much and congratulations for so interesting videos!

      This tv is all around better for me. The colors are much more vivid than the 900/930e. I own both the 900 and 930e. This is largely due to the contrast. Being that this tv is bigger it won't have the same "crispness" as compared to a 49 inch tv because the pixels are larger. However the detail and everything with the new cognitive processor is extremely good. It's a huge upgrade over the 900/930e. I do not have any black crush. Bumping sharpness on any tv can cause artifacting. Input lag is lower on this tv than prior years so games look sensational with low input lag. This tv is much brighter than the a8h and the processor is definitely an upgrade. This tv also has two hdmi 2.1 ports. As for the chromatic abberation, on straight lines, there is a small amount of color "bleed" on fine text. It's not really noticeable unless you know where to look

      It definitely hits different. My gameplay has actually improved drastically. Without the ghosting and slow refresh rate, I'm hitting way more shots and seeing enemies clearer. Racing games have also been an absolute treat to play on this tv. I could say this oled was made for us 930e/940e owners in particular 😊 the image on native 4k content almost looks 8k, and even upscaled 1080p Is the best I've seen

      Gaming HDR 120K on this panel is more immersive than an LED. LED everything looks less dimensional. Could be because the new XR processor too I suppose.

    For people mostly into gaming. A tip. The A90J isn't better than an LG CX and C1 etc.. That "extra brightness" with the peak being high. That is not working in game mode. The TV maxes out around 400 nits in game mode and that isn't more than a CX.
    CX also offer, freesync and Gsync. The Sony gets VRR maybe around winter 2021 and that is the standard HDMI forum VRR.
    It's a beautiful picture, Sony does that well. But the price step up, nah..

    • @SpencersStuffTV
      @SpencersStuffTV 3 года назад +2

      That is incorrect. Calibrated it doesn't get much brighter than what you are saying but with the contrast enhancer active and peak luminance raised, you can achieve the higher peak brightness the panel offers. It will be displayed in a video I just uploaded soon. These "purists" and tv analysts will only give you the calibrated settings to maintain the "creators intent" but won't explore beyond that for processing. I'm not a purist and I have figured out how to squeeze more out of the panel. And it's not even a question when I can compare it to the 930e and achieve a similar experience.
      As for the gaming features, yeah there are more on the lg, but in terms of processing, sonys color gradation and image processing isn't even close to being matched by lg. As someone who does more than gaming on the tv, this is far more valuable. The nice thing is there are options, and in my opinion, sonys processing is worth more. Especially because pc players especially aren't going to sit here shopping sonys tvs for gaming. I wouldn't want Samsung's junk vrr and I know sony doesn't want their local dimming algorithm destroyed on their led panels, that's primarily why they haven't released it. Lg's nanocell tvs are ips panels so they really don't need to worry about raised blacks I guess 😂 I made a video covering this topic and giving my opinions on it already
