Yep. Spent all that time trying to convince yourself the “smart” girl was the one, when you really wanted all the trouble of the Jeep! Love the channel man!
@@JustinBMcBride Me and my family have had so much trouble with Mopar let's just say I'm lucky I am a mechanic and can fix everything on my own. The nail in the coffin for Mopar was when my sister got a brand new 2020 from the factory 4 door wrangler and had the dash removed 5 times for electrical issues and AND! The manual tranny would pop out of reverse when you let off the clutch, had the physically wrestle the thing into reverse! 🤣 What do you think of the new 2023 canyon at4 as a overland rig?
Finally got a chance to watch this after getting back from Death Valley. I totally understand why you did this, too bad Ford could not step up and give you a 4 door Bronco or even better a Bronco Raptor, I am pretty sure your videos helped sell many of these vehicles (both 2 and 4 door) over the time you have owned the two door version. Love your honesty in this video to give some behind the scenes info on what happened.
I was hoping that some perspective into the program and my limited selection would help others know that because I’m in a Gladiator now doesn’t mean the Bronco is a bad platform.
We own a 2-Door and 4-Door… and while we’ve logged quite a few 1500+ mile road trips in the 2-Door, the extra space of the 4-Door can’t be ignored… can’t blame you. Sucks Ford couldn’t get you what you needed! But I love Jeeps too, so congrats on the killer Gladiator! 🤘
Bought a glady 2 yrs ago for the fam. Best thing I ever did. So many great adventures. Spring time with the tops off is always a blast. One of a kind dream machine.
@@JustinBMcBride I take back my comment. I think I might have not been as "regular" in catching up on content since your move to Bronco! I might have just stubled upon your content since this was a Jeep again 😅 Now to grab that 🍿and enjoy your past content on your Bronco! Cause still has the amazingly high production quality! Awesome content and glad to be reacquainted to you 🫡
I've been watching your vids for a while but this is my first comment. I have a 2020 Wrangler JLUR Eco Diesel and do a lot of overlanding (not as much as you), and for the most part it's been reliable, but I am missing a trip this very second because it's at the dealership with a CEL that they can't figure out. I'm sure you've watched all the videos, Casey250 has covered this topic a lot, and I' sure you know all of it. With that big bull bar and lights and all that weight, you will go into limp mode climbing some grade in the summertime, there is little doubt of this. It happened to TrailRecon, Casey 250, and virtually every overlander running the EcoDiesel that's on YT that I know of. I have the OE steel bumper with a winch, the AEV rear bumper with a fuel caddy, the Gobi rack with RTT, and the AAL drawer and fridge system, so I am very heavy like you. My Jeep has gone into limp mode twice, so I set out to mitigate the risk of this in the future. What I did is picked up a Banks iDash Superguage (I have no affiliation with Banks) so that I can watch the exhaust temp. I strongly recommend you do this. You don't want to see exhaust temps above 1200, I think the limp mode kicks in when the temp hits 1400. From what I read the oil temp needs to be kept below 270. I'm thinking about adding an oil cooler but I really have no idea on how to keep the exhaust temperatures down. From what I read the EGR is poorly designed and when exhaust temps get too high the EGR system takes a crap. So Jeep decided to put engine into limp mode instead of designing a good EGR system I would really like you to post any issues and remedies you have should (or when) you encounter heating issues. Good luck and beautiful build!
Liked your content when you had the JLU but couldn’t watch the Bronco. Broncos just are so incapable vs a jeep. So glad you got a gladiator and can watch your jeep stuff again! Can’t wait!
I totally understand your predicament. I have a 4 dr Badlands I waited 20 months for, only to be screwed out of my SAS and hard top. I took it anyway and am now working on a low key build. I like my Bronco, but Ford really hosed a lot of people by promising WAY more than they could deliver. The dealer has been great...FoMoCo blows big chunks. Enjoy that Gladiator.
I was a hold out on dropping the sas. I figured I had waited this long so roll the dice. Enough people did drop which freed up resources and I got my VIN the day after the deadline to modify.
Yeah , I dropped Sas,Lux and tow on my 2dr after waiting 1004 days then I get a build date a week later. What should have been a happy day turned sour after seeing so many getting built with everything INCLUDING builds from just a couple weeks of waiting when they reopened the order banks at the begining of March ! Thanks a lot Ford .
I wanted the vehicle ASAP, too, but I held out for damn near everything... 4-Dr Badlands, Sasquatch, 2.7, Lux, leather, hardtop, tow... even engine block heater. It took so long that by the time it arrived that the salesperson forgot that I originally ordered it with the winch kit! Fast-forward to today, FoMoCo finally addressed the winch/Lux/ACC situation.
I'm 2:42 seconds into the video and let me just say I'm so glad you have a jeep again!! AND I'M NOT EVEN A JEEP GUY lol, I started watching your videos cause it was cool off road stuff and at the time EVERYONE was switching to the bronco and I was rolling my eyes and don't mean to be that guy but I stopped watching some vids that didn't seem as interesting...the OR and CA trips were some of the best BUT omg when I saw the title of this I was excited. Glad you have a jeep again and can't wait for the content! Don't be mad I was mad about you having a bronco lol
I have the same Rubicon Diesel with the Go Fast Camper, but mine is white. I also installed a 40 gallon transfer flow fuel tank in the bed. It has a pump and a hose just like at the gas station. You can fill up your tank or other people's tanks with it. I can go over 1,000 miles without gas stations.
Absolutely love the gladiator build so far, giving some great ideas and inspiration for mine when I get to buy it this year. Stumbled across your channel while watching one of Shawn’s videos from the story till now, and glad I did, definitely subscribed. Keep up the great content!
I've got a regular cab Silverado right now. I'm thinking of trading up to a crew cab with an 8+ft bed and living in it. I'll call it the "Snowpiercer" haha, because it'll be a road train. Current truck is "White Lightning" because she's small a quick.
Hey Justin, congradulations with your new JT Diesel. Your going to love it, the range it's amazing. I'm running a 2021 JL Diesel with a 3.5" lift with 37' Teraflex Nomad wheels. I also did a full Teraflex build, which is a great suspension. You might reach out to Artec Industries for their aluminum belly pan too, they will give you 20% off. They do make aftermarket parts for Diesel btw.
Winston is definitely a nice-looking Gladiator! Very clean looking and well thought out. I run a diesel heater in the winter as well. They are fairly simple to run(once you get the right instructions) and are fairly efficient. However, I can't stand it when diesel gets spilled on anything so I run K-1 Kerosene through mine. The only draw back is it is a little more expensive than diesel. I do run a tank of diesel through it before I store it for the summer, to lube the fuel pump. Kerosene can dry out your pump if ran too much. It still doesn't smell great, but much better than diesel! Happy trails!
Welcome back to the Jeep life. Excited to see how this build works out long term. Gladiator with GFC might be my future from the overland JKU I have now
Love your videos. I am spanking brand new to overlanding, yet to go on my first adventure. I just bought a new gladiator rubicon and saw Epics video on your Jeep, and now that is what I decided to do to my Jeep. So excited!
We just went from a TJ to a JL unlimited 4xe, I totally understand the need for more space as a couple, the TJ was great when it was just me but not so much when we both were going. I do miss the manual though, lol. Loving your gladiator build, I’m only minutes away from Epic, they may be getting a visit soon, lol. Cheers!
I found your channel bc of the Bronco. As somebody who has slept in their 4 door many times now (Deepsleep mat) I too think the 2 door would be too small. Seem to be a lot of Jeep fanboys in here claiming to have left your channel during your Bronco stint. I'll stick around. At the end of the day it's about getting out on adventures, not what vehicle you do it in. Keep up the quality content.
Shortly will be getting a 4 door bronco. After seeing your first video I've been hooked since. Can't wait. Gladiator came out awesome as well. keep up the killer content.
Even though you did not get a definitive answer from Ford, most knew that it had to do with the vehicle weight... a loaded 4-Dr Badlands-Sasquatch with the 2.7 liter/10-spd auto is HEAVY. It has to do with the vehicle's GVWR... options like the roof rack, safari bar, and others may not be selectable when building your vehicle. If the consumer wants to add certain things that may exceed the GVWR, you do that at your own risk. If you want to do it right, start looking at new suspension parts that can support the additional weight.
A little late to the party, Mr. McBride, but I’m watching intensely since I’m picking up my own ‘23 Gladiator tomorrow!! So many options… I’m seriously considering the drive to Surrey to have to the good folks at Epic work on my Jeep. They’ve pretty much seen it all, I’m sure, so can probably guide me in the right direction. Looking forward to catching up with your channel!
I'm sad to see the 2-door Bronco go. I have one as well and I get it! It runs out of space real quick. I will never be as involved in overlanding as you, but it's fun to watch your experiences regardless of vehicle choice.
I'm not a brand-loyal kind of guy... you get the right tool for the job. Good luck and safe travels with Winston! I finally got my 4-door Bronco Badlands (non-sasquach) that I really like, but have not gotten to do much off-road. I really wish Ford had offered a diesel option in the Bronco, but no such luck.
Sorry to hear the Bronco didn't work out for you, not surprisingly largely due to Ford .... you'll be missed, I always enjoyed seeing your posts on B6G- you've got some of the best content without the stupid drama and hype of some of the other channels out there. good luck with Winston!
Awesome job highlighting companies you work with or used in the past, very respectful. Question, why did you go with the Eco Diesel? I’m in the market for a truck and not sure what to go with.
If I didn’t already have my Ramcharger I’d 392 swap a Gladiator. I 360magnum/nv4500 swapped it in 2008, I have most of what I need to put a 392 in it now. Trying to decide if I’m keeping the NV 4500 or going to an 8spd.
Justin, I'm super bummed! Have the same two door bronco and have been building it up like yours! (Everything except the trailracks roof rack and pop up tent) you totally showed me great stuff and how capable the bronco is. Totally get the move to jeep, I'm single mate! Ha, but you had a dope Bronco. No rules on tires and lifts for me! I love your channel! ❤
Justin - can you share your Gladiator configuration? I.e. what options did you spring for? What was "worth it" (like getting a Diesel) vs not "worth it"? I am trying to config a Gladiator and there are too many options!
That’s a solid question. I’m working on that video on my gear review channel. It’s where I’m sharing all of my non-adventure videos these days. It will likely be ready this coming Monday or the next depending on my other projects.
I have enjoyed your bronco journey while waiting 2 years for mine to be built. May 5 2023 finally. Sorry to see you go. I'll keep watching in hopes to see a Bronco here and there. lol
That’s awesome. Love the new rig. I was curious to see you post content on the new Bronco but never understood why you went to a 2 door coming from Cool Rick. Winston totally seems MUCH more your style. Already love the new mods. Enjoy. Appreciate your content. 😎
i have a firecracker red 2021 Eco-diesel with an Ikamper setup. Love the Eco so far. Rolling 37's it feels like it has good power and rides really good for a jeep. Great video man👍
Absolutely brilliant job man. Makes me want to buy a gladiator, go to epic, and the Justin B McBride treatment. How are you liking the diesel drivetrain? How’s your mpg and range? What are your plans for spare fuel?
The diesel has been great so far. I just keep babying it and making sure I hit the scheduled maintenance. Range is why I got the diesel. On highway I’m tagging about 20mm. I expect that to fall after a regear to 4.88s but I’ll get some power back which will be nice when off-road. Currently I have a couple rotopax to carry extra fuel. It works. It’s all I plan to do.
The bronco is nice and I’m glad the bronco came out, but I think you’ll be very happy with the jeep, I am a jeep guy and I definitely prefer a jeep for all my adventures and travels, I think the bronco is a little bit more comfortable than a jeep and would be nice for road trips etc. but with all the modifications personalizing your own vehicle jeep is the way to go, kudos to you👍
Awesome! Glad to see you back in a Jeep You had me going with your epic visit. They install other rather enticing things in Gladiators…… Maybe next time It looks like you were getting blasted with sand out in the swell. Are you using a paint protection film?
@@JustinBMcBride absolutely! Love seeing the beautiful trips that y’all take! I want to save up and kit out my 2021 F-150 to go on overland mountain bike camping trips someday!
Cool Rick build inspired me to do a lot of mods to my ‘21 JLU EcoDiesel. Really enjoying the Epic build of Winston. Looking forward to more content to see how the Rocksliders hold up. I have been eyeing Casey and Shaun’s TeraFlex wheels and am thinking those might be a future purchase. Glad to see you back in a Jeep, although I do like some Fords. 👏🏻👍🏻❤
I went with function over form this go round. The air-down feature of the Teraflex Nomads are truly a game changer. Styling could be better, that is very true.
Hey Justin, love the new rig. Absolutely gorgeous and the work done on up at epic, wow! Makes me want to head straight up to BC and do the same. Cheers, from Park City.
Out of curiosity, did MY21 2-door Sasquatches have rear sway bars? I don't believe 4-doors did until MY22. I've heard that's why Ford wouldn't allow you to add a roof rack to a 4-dr Sas in '21 but would for '22, which had the bar.
@@JustinBMcBride Thx for the reply. I've not found a front half rack for the JT and was considering modding the JCR half rack, but they say it would not fit on the front. I have an all in one case diesel heater and do not store in the bed. I use a tire mount modded from a Rotopax purpose. This is on a tire swing out.
I came down that behind the reef road from the other direction in a Ram TRX just 2 weeks ago. I don't think they had that width sign on the other side...whoops!!! Those rocks are a gate keeper and the worst obstacle imo.
Cade when you say you came in from the other direction I assume you're talking about mid-point on the Horse Valley Road to the miners cabin. The entire south section of Behind the Reef from Ding Canyon to Sy Butte is indeed a 52" trail. I recently came through there on a 52" ATV and there were very sketchy sections even a 52". Some brave (stupid?) folks in a UTV thought they could bypass the barricade which was not a wise choice. I assume they got their UTV out at some point, but when we left them they were wishing for helicopter support. 😂
@@JustinBMcBride as much as I love the roar of 392s, I am a big fan of massive range... so if a diesel and hybrid drivetrains appeal to me. Until I get to that, using your Overlando Bloom as a guide for my 21 (4 Door!) Bronco...
Hey Justin, found you from your Major Tom videos (bronco owner myself) and continue to love your content and approach to overlanding/camping! Congratulations on the new Rig!
@@JustinBMcBride I saw you were in my neighborhood at Epic getting the work done on Winston. I live about 15mins away from Epic! Winston looks great. Was expecting you to put on 40’s though! Hahaha
Do you mark those trails on OnX and Gaia , this is the 3rd video ive seen with that sign with a restriction. TSTN was the most recent, i seen he had same problem, damn signs... lol
I'm curious as to weather an AccuAir suspension system would be better overall for an Overlanding rig. You can still do similar trails, but it would allow you to even out the ride with the increased weight of the overlanding gear. I am also curious as to how well the GFC does at keeping dust out of the truck bed. Nice build overall.
I haven’t looked to. Lovely at AccuAir, although their name keeps popping up. I have done some dust sealing that really helped. The GFC is decent, the Gladiator tailgate sucks. It has massive holes, not even gaps, that let ALL the dust in.
This is like watching your buddy finally get back with the girl you all know is the one for him! Congrats. That’s a pretty sick Jeep!

Crazy how much work has already been done to Winston! Excited to see it in action more! Hopefully our trip to the swell won’t be this windy…
I’m cursed. Expect wind. Lol
Glad to see you back in a Jeep, Justin 🙌
Thanks homie! Feels good!
I have enjoyed your bronco journey while waiting 2 years for mine to be built. May 5 2023 finally. Sorry to see you go. I'll keep watching in hopes to see a Bronco here and there. lol
Thanks, as soon as my brother gets his Bronco, it’ll make appearances on the channel. I’m going to help him do that thing up right.
Great choice! So ready to see it in person!!
That’s awesome. Love the new rig. I was curious to see you post content on the new Bronco but never understood why you went to a 2 door coming from Cool Rick. Winston totally seems MUCH more your style. Already love the new mods. Enjoy. Appreciate your content. 😎
Thanks! I think this backstory will help everyone understand better why I was in a 2-door. It was out of my hands.
i have a firecracker red 2021 Eco-diesel with an Ikamper setup. Love the Eco so far. Rolling 37's it feels like it has good power and rides really good for a jeep. Great video man👍
Cool story never doubt your decision when your love is somewhere else congrats subbed followed over from Shaun’s 👍👍👍
So cool you came up to BC to get your work done!
BECAUSE THATS THE WAY TO GO.!! 🙌🏻
Glad to see you back in a Jeep. Look forward to your adventures in the gladiator.
So glad you are back in a Jeep it was hard watching you in that bronco. My wife’s family are ford people but I’m a Jeep guy
Yes!! So good to have you back in a Jeep! And it is in the same color as mine :)
The bronco is nice and I’m glad the bronco came out, but I think you’ll be very happy with the jeep, I am a jeep guy and I definitely prefer a jeep for all my adventures and travels, I think the bronco is a little bit more comfortable than a jeep and would be nice for road trips etc. but with all the modifications personalizing your own vehicle jeep is the way to go, kudos to you👍
Awesome! Glad to see you back in a Jeep
You had me going with your epic visit. They install other rather enticing things in Gladiators…… Maybe next time
It looks like you were getting blasted with sand out in the swell. Are you using a paint protection film?
I don’t have paint protection. I did graphene on the Bronco but haven’t done anything to the Gladiator.
Sad to see that awesome Bronco leave, but the Gladiator is also really cool! Great content as always, much love from Texas!
I suppose this is a lesson that my channel isn’t about what I drive as much as it is about where I go. This video excluded. 😂
Happy for you guys, here is hoping better weather follows!
I don’t care what you drive as long as you’re able to come out and make epic videos!
Just bought a 2021 JT ecodiesel can't wait to start overlanding!
Great choice!
Just smashed the like button think I broke my screen
If you need more practice I have plenty of other videos that need more likes! 👍🏻
Behind the reef was one of my favorites in San Rafael! That sucks that they restricted it.
Such a bummer.
It's been 52 inch for 20 years that I know off and for good reason, a narrow shelf section is the reason altho the sign may be new
Highly recommend getting a tune done on the eco diesel. Unbelievably worth it
I’ve been eyeballing the Banks system. It looks like a solid option!
That sign is new thing 🤔 behind the reef was a not a very hard but a very rewarding 4wd trail. What a bummer.
Such a bummer.
my favorite thing about this new rig is just the fact that it is a diesel, In my opinion off road or overlapping rigs should be or must be diesel
Awesome gladiator build! I just subscribed, and I’m looking forward to more great content like this man!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
Glad to have you back in the Jeep family Justin! Great footage as always!!
I think the Fifteen52 wheel on the first Jeep were badass. I hope you go back to them in future
I went with function over form this go round. The air-down feature of the Teraflex Nomads are truly a game changer. Styling could be better, that is very true.
Great storytelling and video!
Thanks!
Hey Justin, love the new rig. Absolutely gorgeous and the work done on up at epic, wow! Makes me want to head straight up to BC and do the same. Cheers, from Park City.
7:15 that’s the Lou Glutz Motors from 1983’s Vacation movie with Chevy Chase !
I LOVE HOUSE HUNTERS! I would go with # 2!
Out of curiosity, did MY21 2-door Sasquatches have rear sway bars?
I don't believe 4-doors did until MY22. I've heard that's why Ford wouldn't allow you to add a roof rack to a 4-dr Sas in '21 but would for '22, which had the bar.
I’ve heard rumblings of that being a reason, but in my talks about getting a 22/23 as a 4-door the rule still applied.
As much overlanding as you do any 2 door Jeep or Bronco would be a questionable choice .
Roof Rack - What can you tell us about the roof rack shown later in the video? I run a GFC on my JT. Thx
It’s a soon to be released TrailRax half rack. I don’t have many more details. This is a prototype that I have been playing with.
What MPG did you get out of your Gladiator after the 37” and Lift, before you added the cap a RTT?
The center panel on the 4 door is the weak spot. It drops the weight limit.
Sad you could not get a 4dr Bronco - really interested in what MPG/Range you get with the ecodiesel once you get loaded down
It’s crazy. I get 15 on the low end in a head wind and 21 with a tail wind.
@@JustinBMcBride as much as I love the roar of 392s, I am a big fan of massive range... so if a diesel and hybrid drivetrains appeal to me. Until I get to that, using your Overlando Bloom as a guide for my 21 (4 Door!) Bronco...
What setting you run your falcon shocks on off road and on highway?
3 off road 6 on highway
Once you go Jeep you’ll always come back
It feels like home.
Hey Justin, found you from your Major Tom videos (bronco owner myself) and continue to love your content and approach to overlanding/camping! Congratulations on the new Rig!
Congratulations wecome back to the Jeep family. I am going to be interested to hear your thoughts on Gladiator vrs JL vrs Bronco.
I’ll likely drop a video on my gear channel comparing all of them.
Great content. I’ll admit it you lost me at bronco. But gladiators I love and wanna watch content about. Great build and again great content.
Sad to see the bronco go but excited to see the new build in action.
Justin, what are you using for camp lights?
Great video and glad you are in a Gladiator. How are you finding the camper back?? We tow a great camper but this type of camper appeals to me.
Been waiting for this video!!
Same here!
@@JustinBMcBride I saw you were in my neighborhood at Epic getting the work done on Winston. I live about 15mins away from Epic! Winston looks great. Was expecting you to put on 40’s though! Hahaha
@@ryanskeete 40s are a lot of rubber. 37s are more than enough for me.
Great choice, nice build.
Smart move.
Thanks, your other comments seem to tell me you changed your opinion as you watched through my video though.
