As a food engineer I have to point out that the salt is not only for taste reasons, the salt helps to distribute evenly the heat within the content.

Total Newbie here-- as in never, ever canned anything!! Thank you so much for breaking it down and keeping it simple. So many times if a Newbie asks questions on FB etc. they are made to feel stupid for not knowing. You NEVER do that and you don't know how much that means. I say-- You weren't born knowing it all, you had to learn from somewhere---I'm learning from you--THANK YOU!!! 🥰 🥰 🥰

My brother in law is a trucker. The lady that owns a trucking company who just bought my daughters house are all saying there’s suppose to be a truckers strike on Sept 7 th…..I will be canning meat out of my freezer this weekend, especially hamburger and sausage which I cook in many recipes.
I’ve been dehydrating frozen veggies I had in the freezer to make room…wow a large bag of corn shrinks to a small freezer bag….thanks for your constant inspiration…those of us who listen feel blessed to have a Kitchen Fairy like you to keep us up lifted….
I just saw whereas farms in West Virginia have had their crops destroyed by army worms…….without hay how will they feed their livestock…..oh I know the higher ups will say sell them….at a loss…..they can’t but they might have to……..
America needs to look up to the sky and pray to God, pray our country stays strong, stays level headed and works at preparing for the worse and praying for the best.

Remember to let the canner “vent” for 10 minutes before putting the pressure regulator on, to allow steam to displace the air inside the canner. Great video! I love your perspectives on just about everything! ❤️

A few weeks back I did my 1st preservation of meat, and this past weekend some turkey. My husband sees how beautiful the turkey looks yet was concerned about the Hamburg. I had to remind him that the fat is what gives it flavor, which he knows when he is cooking. It then clicked.
This morning, while having our morning coffee, as I like to browse through what I might want to watch, he watched along with me.
I recently become a follower, and what I love, is that you are "real". No fluff, simply "real". You get it, as you don't "sweat the small stuff" Love your style!! Keep on being you and being real.

After I wash my jars I put them on a cookie sheet and put them in a 190° oven. That keeps them hot when I fill them. I add a cube of beef bullion to each jar and a half tsp of salt for a bit of extra flavor.

Thank you for this. I have canned vegetables and fruit for more than 20 years. But never meat-we keep our freezers full. Recently I decided I need to at least know how to can meat in case my freezer dies or power goes out for an extended period of time. Having this video is *SO* helpful-I learn so much better by watching rather than just reading in a book.

I used to do so much canning, but haven't in years, since I live in a small apartment and don't have room. But I canned meats too, especially deer and several times pork. It was always pieces, never ground, and it worked great in soups and stews. I mostly used quart jars due to family size. When my wife left me she left all her freezer burned beef and vegetables for me. I canned vegetable beef soup with all that stuff. It was really good. Freezer burned stuff is just dehydrated. As long as it has been kept frozen it should be ok. Mom called it dish rag soup because she said it tasted like I boiled the dishrag to make it. She said people during the depression boiled the dish rag to make soup. She always had this saying that she was hungry enough to eat the wall paper off the wall. Back then they really did. Wall paper paste back in the day was made from wheat flour. So the peeled the wall paper off and ate it.

Thank you for doing this. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain, teach, and hopefully give some of a little courage. I have a pressure canner that I bought over 10 years ago, but have never used. I do tons of water bath canning, but my grandmother made me leary of pressure canning. She would teach me and let me help with all the water bath canning, but would shoo all of us out of the kitchen if she was pressure canning. It scared her, because she actually knew an older lady that had an explosion. I know that the canners nowadays have all kinds of safety measures, but I have just kept putting it off. I'm hoping that if I get enough information it will give me the courage to take a step and jump into the deep end.

Followed your video. Pressure canned 11 pints today. My first time pressure canning ever! My Mom would be proud.

I can outside on a 2 burner L.P. gas camp stove. We canned on an old 21 quart Mcdonald canner for years. We bought the all American 931 pressure canner and we love it.. We always heat our lids also.

You are so stinking cute. You had me laughing, which took the anxiety of canning meat for the first time away. I especially liked when you made yourself laugh. 😂. Thank you very much for teaching me to can ground beef. The more in my pantry, the more secure I feel.

I will do some hamburger this weekend. Today I made cowboy candy for the first time. Made sure I planted a lot of Jalapenos this year. I am not a newbie but I can always learn more. Thank you for all your videos.

I have bottled chicken, salmon and others, dog today I will prepare ground beef and I will base myself on this tutorial; I dry realized that you did not put the salt, but when I saw that it was smoked, I loved that you recognized that you forgot to add it; you are very cute. I am learning a lot from you. The Lord continue to bless you. Greetings from Monterrey Mexico. 💃🏻💅🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

Thank you for reminding me how to can! I used to do a lot of it back in the day. Mostly just fruit jams, tomato sauce, and that sort of thing. I had to get rid of all of it when I moved into a condo about 15 years ago. Now I'm remarried, and live in a big house, so I can store some new supplies! I think the pressure canner might be out of my pay grade, but the hot water bath still seems do-able. I'm asking for canning supplies for Christmas!!

I never have luck canning meats. With the cost of it here in Canada right now, I don't want to fail again! Thanks so much!
