Daniel Weiss is one of my heroes. I'm a producer & songwriter firmly entrenched in a digital workflow and this gentleman gave digital audio the kick in the butt it needed to live up to its hype in the mid to late-80's. I'm not rich by any means, but any Weiss Engineering product is worth its cost. You get what you pay for, as they say. My first purchase was the software Saracon, which is in my humble opinion the best sample rate converter & dithering algorithm on the market. I'm not a hi-fi aficionado but I'm not surprised that Weiss is popular in that market. Between Weiss Engineering and Crane Song/David Hill, digital audio is a pleasure to hear.
Many manufacturers have turned to selling audiophile bling and dialled up the marketing bullshit. Weiss is one of the few honest, solid engineering and extreme high quality firms around. Weiss know all there is to know about digital audio and mastering. They’re a pleasure to deal with and their gear lasts decades. Lovely interview.
