I Can't Believe It Came to This: Rekieta Law's Case is Alarming

  • Rekieta Law is the online pseudonym of Nick Rekieta, an American lawyer and RUclipsr who creates content focused on legal analysis and commentary, often related to internet drama, pop culture, and politics. He gained popularity through his coverage of various legal disputes and controversies within online communities.
    ‪@RekietaLaw‬ / @rekietalaw
    Some key points about Rekieta Law:
    Background: Nick Rekieta is a practicing attorney based in Minnesota, United States. He has experience in various areas of law, including business law and intellectual property.
    RUclips content: Rekieta's RUclips channel features live streams and videos where he analyzes and discusses legal aspects of current events, online controversies, and high-profile cases. He often collaborates with other RUclipsrs and online personalities.
    Legal commentary: Rekieta is known for his in-depth analysis of legal documents, such as lawsuits and contracts, and for explaining complex legal concepts to his audience in an accessible manner.
    Controversial topics: Rekieta often covers controversial topics and is not afraid to express his opinions, which sometimes lead to disagreements with other online personalities or communities.
    Audience: His channel has a significant following, particularly among those interested in the intersection of law, politics, and internet culture.
    It's important to note that while Rekieta Law provides legal analysis and commentary, his opinions and statements should not be considered as legal advice. He often reminds his audience to consult with their own attorneys for specific legal guidance.
    Innocent until proven guilty" is a fundamental principle in many legal systems, particularly in countries with a common law tradition, such as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. This principle is also known as the "presumption of innocence."
    The core idea behind this principle is that a person accused of a crime is considered innocent until they are proven guilty in a court of law. The burden of proof lies with the prosecution, who must present evidence and arguments to convince the court or jury of the accused person's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
    Key aspects of the "innocent until proven guilty" principle include:
    The accused has no obligation to prove their innocence; it is the prosecution's responsibility to prove guilt.
    The accused has the right to remain silent and not testify against themselves (the right against self-incrimination).
    The accused has the right to legal representation and a fair trial.
    The court or jury must presume the accused to be innocent until the prosecution has presented sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
    If there is any reasonable doubt about the accused person's guilt, they must be acquitted (found not guilty).
    The principle of "innocent until proven guilty" is essential for protecting individuals from wrongful convictions and ensuring that the legal system is fair and just. It is a safeguard against the abuse of power by the state and helps maintain the rule of law.
    The "court of public opinion" is a metaphorical term that refers to the collective judgments, opinions, and reactions of the general public regarding a person, event, or issue, particularly when there are allegations of wrongdoing or controversial matters involved. It is not a formal court of law but rather a concept that describes how public sentiment can influence the perception and outcome of a situation.
    Key aspects of the court of public opinion include:
    No formal legal process: Unlike a court of law, the court of public opinion does not follow a structured legal process, rules of evidence, or the principle of "innocent until proven guilty."
    Media influence: The media plays a significant role in shaping public opinion by reporting on events, providing commentary, and sometimes sensationalizing stories.
    Social media impact: With the rise of social media, individuals can quickly share their opinions and reactions to events, leading to rapid spread of information and potentially influencing others' perceptions.
    Reputation impact: Being "tried" in the court of public opinion can have significant consequences for an individual's or organization's reputation, even if they are not formally charged with a crime or found guilty in a court of law.
    Emotional responses: Public opinion is often driven by emotional reactions rather than a careful examination of facts and evidence, which can lead to a rush to judgment.

    As the son of an addict, i can fully relate to going to school dirty and hungry, wearing the same clothes. I never doubted my mom loved me, but she did abuse and neglect us during that time. We did eventually get taken away, and it was needed. We made up and i got to spend her last two years with her, during which she apologized for everything. It was the first time she ever admitted what she did, and took accountability. I had stopped holding it against her long before, but I'm glad for her sake that she got it all off her chest. I know she loved us, and I know she was sick. I hope this dude gets the same redemption before it's all said and done.

Seemed to be a good guy standing up for what was right. Family man, good morals, all that stuff. He had everything, literally the life the vast majority of people could only dream of. He flushed it down the toilet like an ungrateful scumbag.. And the kids seemingly being involved is horrific. He could have been number one, now he's a big steaming pile of number two. They are unfortunately in the foster care system (not with family for some reason), and since Nick admitted the information leaked was real/true, the documents stated that they are being uncooperative every step of the way - meaning they aren’t even trying to get the kids back. They refuse to submit any drug tests (starting to make sense as to why they paid the 50k for bond to not have any conditions - to continue use), refuse to let the home be inspected, refuse to remain in contact with CPS - basically they have refused to do anything that could have them seeing their kids and reuniting with them. Which if he didn’t want the state being involved in this manner, he should have never done anything in that home where the kids reside.
      He’s so trumped up on this whole GUBMINT OVERREACH lame excuse and trying to act as if he’s being persecuted for just being a MURICAN EXERCISING HIS RIGHTS that his narcissism has led himself to believe that the state is genuinely targeting him because of his beliefs. He thinks he’s “standing his ground” against some big conspiracy against him - at the expense of his kids. I’m sorry, but he lost that ability the moment he let his children be exposed to this stuff. He needs to step off his high horse and play ball for the sake of his kids, but because his ego has gotten so massive that he thinks all of this is because he has said certain things on his stream about the government and that it could never possibly be that he was being a shite parent doing shite things with children present in the home.
      Guy has become delusional, and now looking back on streams and thinking back on certain comments …. he’s always been this way and it’s been clear as day going all the way back to the Vic days. He’s always seen himself as a big, grand person with principled beliefs standing up for what’s right and no one can tell him otherwise, and anyone that tried to come at him with a different perspective was always cast as being “stupid”. He lauded his profession as a lawyer over others as a way to fuel his ego and make others hang on his every word, building up a cult following in the process that would egg him on and build up his “I am always right” mindset. He has never seen himself as ever being in the wrong - he’s _always_ “right”.
      He reeks of narcissism, but if this was someone *he* didn’t like? He’d be all over it and calling a spade a spade. He’d be supportive on what the state is doing and would consider it right, but since it’s him? Now we’re suddenly supposed to believe he’s innocent and it’s all a ploy by the government to come after him.

He was genuinely awesome and incredibly kind with his time. Regularly shared his platform with nobodies. A fellow 40k nerd at heart. Guy's wit was sharper than most blades and he could think on his feet rather well. I was living in the dorms but was a bit older (27-28 among mostly 18-22 year olds) and many in my hall seemed to look to me for guidance. I myself was still a bit if an irresponsible manchild at the start of that experience but I began to realize how they might pattern their behavior on my own and I strived to not set a bad example.
    Speaking to my own father, a retired deputy, about it, he told me I had entered a mindset similar to his own when he became a Sergeant. Yes he was polite in the comments, but that is because he is the very definition of duplicitous. He is also extremely passive aggressive. The nuances take is that he and his wife deserve to be un alived for the complete neglect and abuse of their five children, it is 100% confirmed btw, not just alleged. He himself verified that a leaked CPS document in which his 9 yo tested positive for cocaine was real. While he has not been convicted he will be. There is no nuance to those who have been following him since before he got big and through his fall of mythical proportions. For reference I was watching Nick back when he had just over 1000 subs. I found in him a kindred as he is one year younger than me, his wife and him had been married for one year less than I and my wife, we both have five kids. He portrayed himself as a Christian conservative (he is not either) as well. In short transfer all the compassion to the kids as you said, he and his wife deserve none.

    10:00 Compassion doesn't have to mean you condone what someone is doing. It just means you genuinely want him to get better.
    ( it's different from empathy, which would be to feel bad for the situation he's in).
    In that sense compassion need not be limited, and your compassion for him doesn't conflict with your compassion for his kids ( they are in fact aligned, because him doing better would also benefit his kids)

Rekieta is the perfect example of this, learn constraint and understand that there is a price to pay. He wasn't just an addict, he partook in extremely hedonistic, disgusting practices. He said racist things, said horrible things to someone who was on the verge of suicide. He did evil things. Most of which were on stream, his discord and other mediums.

    Best take I've heard on this so far. Couple of things, the way this has went down with how the warrant was handled to the "leaked" document that isn't confirmed to even how the arrest report was written seem to be painting a deliberate negative message. For starters the arrest report made it sound like the house was in really bad shape with drugs in plane sight and firearms everywhere, but when more information came out it seems they found 1 firearm underneath the bed in the master bedroom and the drugs were also in that area. In the USA just because you posses drugs and firearms at the same time doesn't mean it automatically enhances your charges, in order for that to happen both items need to be found on you in public. The timing of all of this comes directly after he was publicly disparaging the same judge that signed the warrant to have his house searched. Also the "probable cause" that was used as the excuse for the warrant was not handled correctly by the local police as the process of a walk in report of impropriety is supposed to be to have a bunch of investigation to validate the report before a warrant can even be issued with CPS involved, not go straight to a search warrant as seems to have happened in this case. I absolutely believe Nick has a substance abuse problem with both alcohol and now cocaine and he needs help and guidance to get that sorted out, but how all of this is being handled reeks of corruption from a Judge that has a personal vendetta against him.

    • @debanydoombringer1385
      @debanydoombringer1385 3 месяца назад +2

      Yeah that's not true. A lot of laws went in because of gangs about possession of a firearms and drugs. You do not need to be in public only. Otherwise a lot of gang members wouldn't have been convicted of those same charges. The search warrant wasn't just people saying things. They went over his streams in the document including the white powder on his nose and his clear usage while streaming. They also used Aaron talking about doing drugs, that he'd been in the house (as shown by them streaming together from his house). It was a lot more than 2 court ordered reporters. His wife's sister also spoke to them concerned about the children's wellbeing. Nat the lawyer, who is a former cop, prosecutor, and current defense attorney, went over the official search warrant in detail. It's a pile of evidence.
      Edit: You can argue the constitutionality of the gun charge, but it's been upheld by the courts since the 90s so unless you can get lucky at the Supreme Court, which is extremely expensive, it ain't going away. I can tell you got your information from Barnes. The problem with him is he views everything as a constitutional issue and even if something has tons of case law behind it, that if he thinks it violates it then it clearly does and needs to be changed. Which is fine if you've got a client that can withstand being in prison the years it takes to even get the Supreme Court appeal and the money to do it.

    • @hodgeelmwood8677
      @hodgeelmwood8677 3 месяца назад +1

      It is irresponsible to keep a gun under the bed, especially if it's loaded. The law says that a gun should be kept unloaded, locked up where a child can't get to it, and the ammo kept separately, also where a child can't get to it. As for the daughter, as someone else stated, the report was public information, it was not "leaked," and it has been confirmed.

    • @darklelouchg8505
      @darklelouchg8505 3 месяца назад

      First, it's not inherently irresponsible to have a firearm under your bed.
      Second, what you describe is called a 'safe storage' law and isn't the standard in the US. The standard various by state.
      Third, the report on the child is a government document, true. However simply because it is a government document does not make it public record for all purposes and processes. Information regarding minors is generally kept under very tight information controls and it is typically illegal to disseminate such documents without court release. As would be the case with these documents, and so yes, it was leaked. No ifs, and or buts about it.
      Try learning the laws in the US before opining on topics you know nothing about.

    I come from a family of hunters (all but my mom) and while there were many firearms in our home and - admittedly - we were allowed to USE said firearms at a young age, there were strict regulations. We were not allowed to have them out and use them unsupervised until we had taken and passed our Hunter's Safety Course. And even then, either one or both parents had to know where we were and what we were doing at the time with them. They were kept in a specific closet that was locked at all times, and each firearm had its own case within the closet. I mentioned that my mom didn't hunt; she set rules about how the firearms were carried - NEVER pointed at anyone, even in jest, always aimed directly up or down when carrying. Honestly, the only time we used any of them was either to actively hunt or for target practice. And living in a hunting community, these rules were NOT unique to our household, which is why it irritates me so much when Gun Control people come at hunters. The level of accountability we hold ourselves to is almost military-grade. We are responsible not only for our safety, but for the safety of those around us.

Which, fair viewpoint for a nebulous defamation case where others might seek to exploit or extort money through frivolous lawsuits but as more information is revealed through his current court documents, he's willing to sacrifice 6 other lives for that same stance. All for being caught with illegal substances which is a personal choice he and Kayla made - not his children.
