Actually this is fun to do. I love seeing food develop before my eyes! With food at the grocery store going up several times a year this is nothing to sneeze at! Skiing is gone once the trip is over (not to mention the cost involved), but microgreens keep on producing for you ("learn to fish, and eat for a lifetime") and they actually do something functional! Thanks for the information. I'm going to look into those pads. Saved to my Hydroponics playlist!
Love this! I have a window sill box with green onions and beet greens going, but the mesclun mix is much too leggy and barely growing. Microgreens, here I come.
Let me save you a few minutes: 1. Put 2 cups water in a tray 2. Put the pad in then turn it over, making sure both sides are wet. 3. Open the seed package and sprinkle seeds on the tray. 4. Mist dry spots. 5. Mist another tray and put it upside down over the other like a dome.
How many seeds do you go through? That must cost a lot to constantly have to plant new seeds? And, after trimming the tops (harvesting) can you get a second or 3rd harvest?
Paul Ladendorf I'm not sure what you're asking. The cost of the seed itself depends on whether you buy organic or not, how much you buy at one time, and from where you buy it. The net worth of the broccoli sprouts varies, also. I imagine it's much cheaper to grow your own than to buy sprouts or microgreens in a health-food store, depending on seed cost. Your best bet is to shop around for the least expensive price (though I'd look for the highest-quality at the lowest price). If you're sprouting a lot of seeds, it would be best to buy in bulk and store the seed properly.
Paul Ladendorf Oh, sorry. I thought you were asking me because you posed the question right after I left my first response. Don't expect any answers from the uploader; there are tons of unanswered questions on all their videos...
You should be careful when handling the filled tray (water and plants) so NOT to cause a break or crack in the plastic - and the tray will last for many years of repeated use. I suggest you wash and dry them after each use, then store them out of the way until needed. Happy New Year!!! Skip :}) 12-31-16

Thanks for the vid. How much seed did you use to grow the broccoli greens?
It's about one ounce of seed (about 2 1/2 tablespoons).
Can you tell me what the approx. cost of the seed is per pound of broccoli greens harvested? Thanks.
