- NDI® Bridge is a tool designed for sharing NDI® video sources beyond a local area network (LAN) using the Wide Area Network (WAN), also known as the “Public Internet.” NDI® Bridge was released in 2021 with the NDI® 5.0 toolset, along with NDI® Remote and Audio Direct tools. Until NDI® Bridge was released, many video productions used NDI® only for LAN video traffic and relied on technologies such as Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) or video communication solutions like Zoom to transport video over the public internet. NDI® 5.0 supports a technology called Reliable User Datagram Protocol (RUDP) which is a point-to-point video transport protocol that allows for high-quality video transport over public networks.
The NDI® Bridge has three main components that allow users to advertise and transport NDI® video over the WAN. First, users can set up their Host connection. The Host connection allows others to join the NDI® Bridge that is set-up on one side of the connection. Here, you can select a group of NDI® sources to be transported over the WAN to a receiving location anywhere in the world. You will learn more about setting up groups of NDI® sources with Access Manager in the next chapter. Using NDI® Groups, the NDI® Bridge can send an entire group of NDI® HB or NDI HX® video sources together over the public internet.
NDI® Bridge does require a public IP address and an open port to operate properly. You can request a public IP address through your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Ports for video traffic can be created through the router connected to the WAN. Once the public IP address and open port are set up, a host connection can be accessed through the public internet.

Great job on this NDI series! It's been 3 years, but the information is still super helpful.
You've done a great job of balancing education and avoiding overwhelming viewers.
I've been using NDI with Media Ministry LiveStream Integration, and it's been a game-changer. I highly recommend it as a valuable addition to any live streaming toolkit.
Thanks for the Amazing video, it open my mind ..
Is there A NDI Bridge for MacOS
NDI Bridge is only working for camera and live production solution or is it also work for Laptop connected to LAN as NDI source? Also work for same network or required different network?
Thank You
Welcome!
Ok, just so I can understand this and hopefully this works. Let's take a BirdDog Flex 4k NDI Encoder and have it connected to flypack network switch, and then that can be connected straight into the venues network port or switch. And then the computer back at the production room studio, can take that IP Address with NDI Bridge and then have a straight connection. Will that work?
Does NDI Bridge support a return audio feed? (I have successfully connected and I see all the inputs from my other location...ssssswwwweeeetttt, but no audio coming into my vMix from them. Any suggestions?
Dear, I am using NDI Bridge but it would not be working well, it establishes the connection between the Host and the Join but after a certain time it is cut off, the Join says that it loses the connection with the Host. I have already tried everything, firewares deactivated, I tried with several PCs, they all have Nvidia boards and they are latest generation i7 PCs, can someone tell me why it cuts? HELP!!!!!!
I clarify that from the Host I send two signals to the Join and from the Join I send a signal to the Host
Is all the source auto synced by NTP? E.G. source 1 is from the capture card on host machine and have no latency, source 2 is from smartphones inside the same LAN but using WiFi so it have little latency, and source 3 is from another side of earth using NDI bridge which have huge latency, will the 3 sources be synced by same timecode, with adding latency to low latency sources to match the high latency sources?
It is best to use an NTP time server that either local to the network or available online for each computer and device you use with NDI in order to have all the sources synced together. Here is a video that explains more - ruclips.net/video/RRTR1Lo0oAM/видео.html
Hi, in NDI bridge there is still a button : COMING SOON. Why? No Connection, ... ?
update NDI tools it is available now - I can´t make it work, but you can try it :D
Please help, I tried sending and NDI to another country with NDI remote but my girlfriend had no luck when she tried sending me video. After that we tried with NDI bridge & screen capture together . we had success with this method but stopped working a few days ago...(my PC will not send no data at all even if if I have my NDI webcam or screen capture/ share) I am wondering what other method I could try please help
what can I do to make my PC compatible? I check my compatibility with the NDI Bridge app and my PC is not compatible to encode on H.264 and HEVC but can decode on both. my CPU is a Ryzen 7 3700x and I have a Ryzen 6700xt for my GPU. Thanks
Anybody know what the bandwidth implications are of a non receiving, non transmitting host? For example, studio at location A with 1Gb connection, studio at location B with 1Gb connection, but the Bridge Host at location C with a 30mb connection. All feeds going A to B, never to C... I can see this being a solution to two sites I need to connect, but where opening a port is unthinkable..
In this scenario, location C wouldn’t receive any video. Honest I’m not sure how many simultaneous connections a single host can support
Great!
Sorry man...you go in depth of how it works but you never show it working?? No Examples of set up. Video is almost worthless unless you need to know how it works and don't need to actually use it. Video is for a classroom setting not a practical example or a youtube how to ....Frustrating
I agree, this is a circuitous road to nowhere. A video putting in actual and passing a video point-to-point across the internet would have been far more useful than this theoretical lecture.
Can u show it with practical examples ? Eg. You connect your PC and broadcast your NLE and some one watching it and giving suggestions and then according to that you are editing your footage. Also there is no mention of audio video sync. For eg. person A is editing a song remotly on his NLE and another is seeing the song with que sheet in his hand and 2nd person is giving instructions to the first person giving him time code to cut the shots. We want this type of practical implementation.
I do music for living and I use NDI tools and plugin with zoom. I take audio video from obs and stream it to zoom. I feed audio via cleanfeed. But zoom has problems with sync. So I am desperate need of another solution. So i am not getting anywhere.
NDI bridge could be used this way especially with the Adobe Premiere plugin for NDI. NDI bridge connects two LANs together OR can be used for transcoding on the LAN. Either way it could help with connecting say NDI Studio monitor (to view the source) and NDI screen capture to send a source over the network
@@StreamGeeks What about the FinalCutPro NDI Plugin?
Where is the MacOS version of this software? Do the Norwegians not understand the US media market at all? Are they going to turn NDI into crappy software like Bluetooth?
Yeah. No Mac version yet. Could be a long time if you ask me. The Bridge isn’t even fully release on Windows yet
@@StreamGeeks Is the problem the crappy NAT implementation on Mac?
