Thanks for checking out the song. I wish I had the talent Clapton has in one of the fingernails he has, even a trimming of one of his nails.

Well done on song. I can relate on singing and playing. WAY back when I had just turned 18 in 1984, we had a casual band that wasn't that serious, but we jammed a lot at parties and such. Classic rock, southern rock, with some metal. Quite the eclectic blend but was fun and was mainly just jamming songs the other kids knew with no singing as we def couldn't afford a PA. My drummer bud somehow got us a chance to do a video for our local public access TV channel which was like MTV for us. Bandmates wanted me to sing one of the songs I wrote, and we sometimes jammed to, but I guess a had a bit of stage fright and we ended up bringing in one of our friends who had the great 80s hair, kinda a Loverboy/Sex Pistols Johnny Rotten look and who advertised himself as a singer. The video shoot went horribly as he didn't even learn the lyrics. We played my first handwritten song 'Rat Race' literally 20+ times because he messed up so bad. Early cuts we were thrashing about with full emotion but by the time we made it through the entire song, we played much like zombies would and it showed in our video. Talk about I've got blisters on my fingers! It was still a buzz around high school, but I wasn't proud of it at all, and I knew I should sing my own songs. Next song was a very personal song to me, much like what you have shared here, and I finally got it with my voice just being another instrument and from then on out I was very comfortable singing in front of as many people that bothered to listen.
Sorry for super long comment but what you said about your own experiences here really took me back. Rock On.

Very cool story and I wish I had the confidence do do something like that at that age. It actually was my age, 18 at ‘84, high school 1980-1984. ‘84 was the year I got my first guitar and started taking lessons.

I’ve got a mic set up but I decided to do this right after getting home from work, 3:00 am and waking my wife up would have lead to the opposite of a love song.
      I’ll use it next time.

One of the ways I cemented my relationship with my wife when we were dating was playing “I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song” by Jim Croce.
