Finally a movie that brings my childhood irrational fears to life. I lived next to a water tank when I was a kid and for some reason it used to terrify me when me and my friends went to hang out by it. I always imagined something was lurking inside the quiet darkness of water.
We used to have one too in our home and another one in our primary school [the last one in terrible condition with rotten planks of wood for cover, I have no idea how nobody managed to fall] on one. Both were like 10 feet deep, very dark, and full of very BIG frogs. I am still scared of frogs and toads thanks to that lol. But yeah, is scary to think about what lies under that dark cold water... the weird echoes when you murmured or screamed into them were scary too.

When i was a kid my friend got bitten by a viper hiding in the toilet in her hooha. Since then every time i shit i imagine a monster biting my ass.

I've been really anticipating this Creature Thriller from Thailand called THE LAKE. Hoping it is as good as the trailer suggests. Alot of practical physical effects which are hidden within a naturalistic environment of rainy haze and fog, atmospheric suspense. Not many great creature horror films since Bong Joon Ho's The Host. (Quiet Place 2, The Monster, etc.)

New type of monster? This story has been done so many times. So many monster movies start just like this. The family is given a thing or property that has some monster trapped in it and they inadvertently set it free. This is in no way new. And the monster is just an aquatic demi-gorgon from Stranger Things.

@Justin Neal actually when I get baked and watch a flick, I usually overanalize it so I never do that with monster/horror movies. They are too filled with people making the absolutely obvious wrong choice and I find that to be uber annoying!!!lol

I do too. We know what the creature looks like so that takes away the fear of the unknown factor and the monster reveal scene. They also spoiled a lot in the name of adding a cheap jump scare to the trailer.

You kidding me? Compared to your average movie trailer this was extremely tame. All we know is there is some creature in a water tank. Most movie trailers tell the entire movie in 2 minutes.

My dad used to bring me home salamanders when he’d clean old water tanks like that. I’d catch worms for them to eat all week until they were super fat. Then we’d put them back.

Huh. That scare with the monster in the window actually shows some promise--having the monster PRESENT, in plain sight, but then give itself away by moving BACK is an interesting reversal of the norm. Hopefully the scare chord was only added for the benefit of the trailer, because otherwise it's understated yet effective. It isn't paradoxically both trying too hard and not trying at all like most jump scares in modern horror.
This looks fun 😆 I usually hate scary movies, yet I might enjoy this one.

Momma kept a creature in the water tank, she named it "Hank". Hank was a real wild one, a real party animal, sometimes ate a guest or two, but it was the good ole' days where that was totally normal 😅

I am gonna be honest. It was a pretty good monster movie. Not much to complain about. Decent effect and graphics. The story was pretty good. I liked the characters well enough. So yeah…

So I changed the playback speed to 0.25x to get a better look at the creature clips and lemme tell ya.... Maybe it's just me but the combination of the slowed down audio & dark visuals from 1:31 and on would give anybody intense, anxiety-inducing terror.
The use of music got me pumped. Creative and I'm for sure gonna watch this with my dog on a Friday night. I was always really scared of horror growing up. But recently with my dog I've been able to enjoy some. Still not a fan of gore or like, moving curtains though lol
Trailers are awesome these days, you never need to watch the movie because it's all in the trailer.....

'Well that's a bit weird.' They said put the thing back in the concrete water tank. Put a big rock on top of the manhole, eventually having it capped with concrete, and they installed an above ground polymer tank like everybody else.

If they sell me a house that is secured with boards and/or chains with padlocks, believe me, I won't even take the modesty of opening it to inspect it, no matter how cheap it is. What is closed is closed and that is how it will stay. Regarding the film agghh it is so predictable and it is one of many with the same theme. IMHO!
