@Magnus Boston thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Thank so much. Someone put up one of these in my area on a social media group for spares or repair for free!!! I picked it up. I was struggling to find how to dismantle it - now I know. The handle was off so I've put some temporary bolts in and ordered new ones with correct knobs. I've had it running briefly by injection petrol into the inlet. Now I've seen your video I'll remove the carb and service that. The paint on mine is mint - no rust. Thanks again - I can't believe what people throw away.
Brilliant, dismantled and serviced the carb. Two of the 3 jets were blocked absolutely solid. I used the off cut of a guitar first string (15th thou”). They were so blocked at first I thought the inserts were simple plugs! Anyway it runs perfectly so thanks again; your videos are so important. You’ve saved another 30kg of stuff going to landfill 😂.
Hi, I've been using the machine now for several weeks; it has performed faultlessly. Thanks again for your posting which enabled me to strip, diagnose and repair the machine. :-)
Thank you very much. I had only used the 450E about 5 times and then not for months. It was very hard to start then immediately cut out. I checked the spark plug and valve gaps which were fine, then did the carb breakdown and clean. There was a lot of petrol in the carburettor with some grit. Because everything otherwise looked virtually brand new I did not have high hopes, but it started and ran sweet as a nut! Must have been a little blockage in the carb. Cheers again, much appreciated
Aussie here - im specifically watching your vid because I have a 450e on my victa mower. We dont really stop mowing except in any places that get close to freezing temps in Aus. So on a national level its happening every weekend all year round. More if you are in northern aus! Great vid mate
@@MowerMan just finished watching the vid. Cant believe how easy yours started! Clearly the valves need adjusting on mine! The other thing was extending the pull cord (going to add a ring on the frame to keep the starting pull cord up higher instead of sitting right on top of the recoil cover). Your clear explantion and side kick cameraman has just helped me learn how to modify mine for a much easier start and a handle much higher than leaning right over :) Many thanks!!!
Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 I have only recently started repairing lawnmowers for profit and would just like to say I find your videos very informative and have certainly been a great help to me. Thankyou and keep up the good work. 👍
Hi I’m James great help these lawnmower videos I got a non starter 450e locally got it going again so a big Thankyou ,I’d stipped carburettor down once it still had same non starting issue but on 2nd try I left carb to sit in cleaner for about 20 mins before cleaning and to my amazement it started, found the videos most helpful ,so I owe you a pint! Great stuff
Thanks so much Paul. I watched your video and managed to service my own 450e.I even changed the pull cord. You are so clear and detailed, it was a real piece of cake! I also use NGK (bcpr5es) the engine seems to run smoother. Hail to David the camera man. Awesome job!!!
I was given one of these style mower and it had or missing a hose ,that is coming out of the carburetor. I looked around and couldn't find where it was supposed to connected to. I noticed that it only one hose for the fuel, so I drilled a small hole and installed a 1/8 hose from the carb. to the fuel tank (as a return line) it runs great
Hi from Australia - I have a 25 year old Masport 400/4 with a B&S Quantum MV 50 engine. Still starts first pull though its starting to smoke a little. I always used premium fuel for its octane and additives to keep the fuel fresher. We have unleaded with 10% ethanol which is deadly for most engines. We mow from October (spring) to May (winter) in New South Wales. the mowing season is longer in Queensland and less in Victoria (south). Great video
Great video thanks mate, I’m British watching from Australia. Victa is probably the most common brand out here for the homeowner. New they are around $400 ( 200 gpb) they have Briggs engines on. We also have Japanese mowers due to our location being close to them. You never seem to take a breath, I thought I chatted a lot in my videos, you don’t stop 😂🤣 Thanks for sharing, lovely grass too by the way!
The Briggs 450e benefits from opening the carb jet to 20 thousandths - a stripped bread wire tie can be used to check that the jet is clear and big enough. Doing this helps the motor run better and cuts down on the need for carb cleanings. 👍
Now you have 28,000 subscribers! I have one of those machines, And it broke down on me. It had been hunting/surging a bit, so I stripped and cleaned the carburettor, rebuilt it, pulled the cord and it ran on carb cleaner with a lot of smoke for a couple of seconds and died. It's 7 years old and never let me down before. I just can't get it to run .Best regards. 🤔
That plug under the carburetor is just a drain, 1/4 twist undoes it. I used a suitable size head of a bolt to fit in it. Excellent and informative, ta mate
Great video this. Got my self propelled function working as it had the exact issue. That was last year then I couldn’t work out where I saw it as I forgot to subscribe… sorted now!!
Looks like it was dropped at some point maybe off a trailer, the owner then probably started to unscrew the cover and decided just to buy a new one instead to save the hassle. Just goes to show if you spend a little time on maintenance it could save you a lot of money :) Great video! Was directed here via a shoutout from ollie man - glad I found the channel as is really informative so subbed to both :)
Nice video, I use the older style 450 classic ( more tins than plastic except for the carburettor ) and find them excellent. Where I’m from in Aus the few months over winter is the only time grass stops growing.
I'm getting ready to do an overhaul on my 450e-powered mower, myself. Busted piston rings are robbing it of power due to lack of compression and making it spew oil.
Actually an impact screwdrivers made to be hit with a hammer it puts pressure down and turns the screw at the same time you can use it without a hammer it works really good when you need to break it loose when you use a hammer it's better
Great video as usual. Where would we brie without you? It's important to have a gouda laugh every now and then! I'll stop there....I camembert to go on any further.
My mower is identical to that one, problem is it’s in constant drive, wheels locked in forward. Any idea? There isn’t any access to the drive box from underneath or the side. Looks like either I need to remove the rear plastic housing to gain access to the drive box, or remove the drive box completely?
34:57 Do not try to unlock that plug. Two little plastic nails holds them tight if you pressure them they break off instantly and you never going to find replacement. You cant super glue it back either ;) thumbs up for the video!
Hello. I've just watched this after the drive went on our mower.. I re-fitted the belt and it came off within a few mins.. It's probably stretched and needs a new one... but the back end part of the where the belt sits (mounted on the back wheels) moves a little. Do you remember if it moves to allow the belt to be replaced and give a little slack when replacing.. or is it lose and needs tightning up a little? I don't want to order a new belt if the problem isn't the belt but the back mount on located on the back wheel axel. I hope you see this. Great detailed video btw.. I've never replaced the belt before and I had it all apart and back via watching your vid. Superb upload.
Awesome job man, I just changed the drive on mine, and it still don't work, I'm thinking now it could have been the cable, as the other drive was stuck on. The silver cable adjusters would be gd to see how they are used to adjust or even knackered,👍🍺🍺👊🏻

Hello there. I used this video last year when the belt had come off so thanks Once again for that. Wonder if you could assist- the drive seemed to ‘slip’ as the year went on, when the lever was engaged it would work the wheels but on occasion it wouldn’t result in the mower going forward, if I lifted the rear of the mower the wheels would ‘drive’. even with the belt attached is this possibly indicating a new belt is needed? Don’t want to waste money on it if it’s something else.

It his a drain plug
He is tilting the mower wrong, oil will st to go or drip out of the exhaust

Guess you do not know how to change the primer bulb on that engine either. Otherwise you seem to know what you are doing.
