This song was a tribute to the lost children souls we will never get back because of corrupt adults who didn't use valuable time to save over 200 students and around 100 passengers from drowning. The captain told everyone to stay put ("it's a red light"), then he and his crew left for rescue boats meant for the over 400 passengers (around 340 being high school students and many others being elderlies and small children) who drowned because of his orders. The lost souls were "wanting and waiting for the green light" (aka the cost guard and the government to save them. Or even for other orders.), but they never came. The green light never came. The only ones who made it out, were the ones who didn't listen. About 175 survivors out of around 400 passengers, only 75 being the high school kids. They never made it out, F(X) made this song for them as a tribute.

Both vessels were aware of each other’s position but SS Andrea Doria turned to port, which is not what you do in a collision course. The MS Stockholm turned to starboard. Several vessels came to the rescue including SS Île de France who took on most of the survivors. When the IDF arrived, she turned on all of her lights for better visibility on the Doria. 'Red light' and 'green light' reminded me of how the MS Stockholm was going for a red to red passing while the SS Andrea Doria was going for a green to green passing. This one lyric, ‘Open up your eyes, stop speeding, you’re going to crash’ somewhat got me on this theory. And then I found out it was about the Sewol Ferry tragedy.
