She wanted to hurt Christi so bad by hurting Chloe, because Christi actually believed in her daughters natural talent, would talk back, and call Abby out on her BS and Abby can’t handle that so she has to go and harm Chloe. I feel so bad for Kurt. He genuinely wanted to be there for his daughters and Melissa’s lying ass kept him from them. She didn’t want him taking away her little dress-up dolls (her own words) and moneymakers. You can see by the way Melissa was acting that she knew she was getting caught up in the act and was lying. I've had the same thing with my dad. My mom told me things that weren't true and sometimes lied to him about things. It got to a point where I didn't trust him as much as I do and I started doing things I shouldn't have done. But now that I've grown up, I've actually come terms that my dad wasn't the person my mum made him out to be. Melissa should've told Kurt about where she was going. Ofc I understand they had marital issues and problems of their own but they didn't need to drag it out to their kids. Kurt has a legal right as a father to see his daughters and if that was a problem for Melissa, she could've sort it out with Kurt or at court. Again I don't know about their relationship neither do I want to cuz that's their private life but I'm just stating the situation.
