I love your videos, you crack me up! I'm fishing Powell for the first time in July and I've learned a lot from you. Thanks a ton and keep them coming.

Good video, I've been waiting for more since I saw your San Juan crappie video. You've seriously only caught the grand slam once? Get up to the north more often ha. So do you honestly exclusively use tube jigs? Seems like a great idea since they are probably way more durable than a hula or creature like you're saying.

Awesome video, brother....as are they all. I can't stand watching hunting/fishing shows that are on private lakes or private land anymore. I'd rather see a real guy on public land doing it for real...showing fish that you "LDR", the dinks along with the keepers. I'm sure the thumbs down are from dillholes that like to watch deer get shot off of a pile of corn in the middle of a dirt road. Bonus points to you for sportin' the wrestling garb!

Kyran, this video has inspired me to commit to a Lake Powell trip next year. I'd love to get out and fish with you. Just tell me the best time to come, and we'll get it booked. I know it'll be a long shot for me to get the Powell Grand Slam, but it's been added to my bucket list! Great video!

Jeremy Christensen Hi Jeremy,Thanks for watching! Your best chances for a Grand Slam would be in early April because the Crappie are spawning and the Crappie is the toughest of the 5 to catch. We have had an epic shad spawn this year with literally millions of them balled up all over the lake. The spring bite should be fantastic. Give us a call when your ready to put the trip on the calendar. April and May are our busiest months.Take care,Ky

Thanks for watching TroutBum. I'm working on a video where we hike in to Glen Canyon via the Ropes Trail and fly fish for trout. It's going to take a few more trips to get all the shots I want but I think you will like it when it's done.

Kyran, that was awesome. Great video man. Nasty ending though. Lol. My son and I will be going there in two weeks. I would love to talk to you to get some pointers. Thanks for the entertainment man.

Thanks for the compliment on the video Ken.
I am not one of those fishermen that gets into gear and trinkets. I know that there is probably some reason to spend a bunch of money on a rod but I have never really felt I was missing fish because I didn't spend a $100. I fish a medium/heavy fast action 6.5ft. Berkley lightning rod @ $40. The bonus is when I break the tip off in the truck door, I'm not quite as pissed as I would be if I had dropped a days wages on the stick.

Ahhh a wise guy huh? I love it, for I am a wise guy as well!
1st - Thank you very much for watching fishingmichigan22. I appreciate it!
2nd - A large percentage of this video shows miles of “bank” that is flatlander friendly.
    3rd - Webster's definition:
Bank - The margin of a watercourse; the rising ground bordering a lake, river, or sea, or forming the edge of a cutting, or other hollow.
I think that a 30 foot cliff constitutes "rising ground". I have hauled many o' fish up 30 foot and higher cliffs. When you come from a state that boasts mount Arvon (elevation 1978 feet) as its highest point I know it can be hard to imagine that a 30 foot cliff constitutes “a bank” 
I write this to be funny and be a smarty pants, not to knock you or the great state of Michigan. I would absolutely love to fish/hunt and explore the state. I look forward to getting a wise guy response.

Thanks for watching! Yeah I really have only done it twice now. Once a few years back and this time on video. It's always the Crappie that screws me. I would love to get up to the North End/San Juan River Arm more often but it's just so expensive and I worry about breaking down. Your calling out a big favor to get a tow back. HONESTLY, I almost exclusively use tubes. Durable. Good action, versatile, cheap. I'll throw a drop shot or a crankbait when it calls for it but mainly just tubes.

Howdy greenhead 1804,Thanks for watching! In the fall there are a lot more bait fish for the bass to chase.....shad, bluegill, bass fry etc... I always have a crank/slash/jerk bait tied on and I alternate between a tube, senco and crank. Watch my shore fishing vid for sanco/slashbait tutorial. Also, always keep your eyes out for boils in the morning and evening. Good luck man!

Do you have any advice on fishing with a down-rigger there.

    • @KyranKeisling
      @KyranKeisling 6 лет назад

I have fished a downrigger several times, (mostly in winter). I have had fair success but the big problem is the undulating bottom of Powell. It's really easy to get your ball hung up. Make sure to scout the area you are going to troll so you know what to expect before you start. I think that if someone were to really invest time in downrigging the lake they might be able to figure out how to catch those 20+ pounders. I always lose patience and start throwing jigs at the bank.
