Not only it does looks beautiful gorgeous, its sounds beautiful as well ,I always wanted to own a room full of only sansui receivers and amplifiers from 1970s ,and mid eighties.
Bought mine in 1978, while in USAF, base exchange didn’t have speakers that could handle. I had to go to Japan and get em from the factory. This thing sounds a whole lot better than digital crap.

Wow I was getting ready to pit my Sansui 9000db receiver out on the trash it just needs the volume control looked @ causes left channel to short static sound when I use volume control knob I bought this system in Fussa City Chrome Tokyo back in 1978 brand new had a pioneer turntable w/ a sansui equalizer and pioneer range expander & reverb components w/ a DBX 224 noise reduction unit w/ Bose 901 series IV I purchased this whole system for around $2,200.0 wow after reading how vintage & valuable this item is I am going to get this unit looked @ and see if I can get it repaired asap thank u for putting these.Vintage DC powered monsters on You Tube! 🇯🇵👌🏾👌🏾😂😎

*Most of the pots of that era were Murata units. Sealed green cubes wave-soldered to PCB. However Caig Labs' DeOxit D5 spray is worth a try first. After that it gets quickly expensive. 9000DBs and 909DBs are keepers and in demand when on offer. Cheers!*
very nice vintage monster receiver! 330 watts RMS across the spectrum with very little THD or intermodulation! Late seventies gem along with the Pioneer SX-1980 (270 Watts) and Technics SA 1000 (300 Watts) ..shud have demo'd the FM mute..
I recently bought an SX-1980 and sold it a week later. Muddy low-end and overall, not a very transparent, high-quality sound. It looks impressive but it's a bit overrated amongst vintage gear. The best brands from this era are: Yamaha, Sansui and Kenwood. And just as a point of History the extremely talented designers from Kenwood went on to form Accuphase which went on to become some (and still are) some of the best gear avail at any price.

The G's are hard to come by. Found one in 2012, sold it 2016. Haven't seen another since and 'ive been collecting since 2008. I have seen the larger units on Craig's however, commanding crazy money. Love that live soundstage they have.
I saw a g22000 or g33000 back in 2006 at a flea market. Missed out on it..asked the guy how much he sold it for as it was still on the trailer , he said 35 dollars. I bought a nak dragon at same market for 10 bucks a year later. That market has been gone for 12 years , there is a underground water drainage or reservoir facility or something there now . Bummer dude.

The FM sensitivity seems to be outstanding, because I noticed you were getting solid stereo signals with around 30 dbu signal strength, and mono came through alright even at 20 dbu.
@@blackrifle6736 So it was never really a receiver since the tuner/preamp were separate because a receiver integrates the power amp, preamp and tuner. I guess the electronics engineers at Sansui couldn't figure out how to fit it all into one unit, yet the guys at Technics, Pioneer, Marantz, etc...all figured it out

These were intended to be Sansui's limited production halo products. My guess is Sansui intelligence looked at what was coming to market, evaluated internal thermals and decided to go this cost-no-object route. In my opinion, although pushing the definition envelope a bit, the wide ribbon cable qualifies it as a receiver. So be it. Cheers!*

True, these amps are really nice pieces of audio equipment. I have a Sansui Eight hooked up to a computer via an external ASUS DAC. You wouldn't believe the sound quality these almost 50 year old designs put out. They come from a time when receivers were built to last and be servicable. Mine was completely serviced a year ago. Try getting anything you buy today repaired even 10 years later...
My uncle use to have an ugly stereo receiver with a pair of speakers with not to many features, bery simple indeed but omg that atereo sistem sounded so amaising, the brand i remember was epicure and my uncle sold it and bought a Technichs receiver instead that sounded good but not as the other one. Im tring to buy a receiver like thar one now but ist to hard to find them.
I have a Sansui AU-11000, I would be playing Breadfan by Budgie or Paranoid by Black Sabbath. That's what these are made for! Proper bloody music, through proper fucking speakers.

Simple, Jazz and Classical provide the best overall sound quality compared to rock which is usually compressed. Wouldn't mind hearing some Floyd tho :)
Because they want to test the dynamic range, clarity of the notes, and the punch. Jazz and Classical are typically recorded with much greater dynamic range than rock music. I've always liked rock music, but I wasn't a fan of jazz until I heard it on a good stereo.
Trust me man. I've owned everything from junky mid-fi gear in my life to high-end separates, and this receiver would EASILY eat the lunch of any modern NAD, Arcam, Cambridge, Marantz, etc. avail today in any way you care to measure.
amen you have to have great speakers too, the OP didn't show what they were using, could have been some old book shelf Minimus 7's for all we know, now if you throw some Pioneer HPM-100's on it the neighbors would call the law on ya!
