  • “If we were to delight in the Ten Commandments, we would begin to live on earth as a citizen of heaven, anticipating that future sweetness when we, like Christ, fully obey the law.” -- Jen Wilkin
Jen Wilkin delivers a message at TGCW21 on expanding our understanding of and obedience to the Ten Commandments. Wilkin emphasizes the importance of delighting in God’s law and explains the good that comes from it: “Personal obedience always results in collateral benefit. When one of us obeys God's law, it is good for all of us.”
As Wilkin walks through each commandment, she explains how to look for expansive obedience instead of just rote instruction. Obedience was always intended to be worshipful, and if we meditate on the law rightly, it can become that once again.

From 32mins onwards. Sabbath rest is communal and not self rest. It is about self denial where we cease to use our own effort to do things. This is such a new view of Sabbath rest for me. 🙏✝️

Keeping the law is possible only through the new covenant of giving the Lord's heart.
The gospel is Jesus Christ in me
    (Romans 1:2)
And His promise made with Abraham,Isaac and Jacob.(Acts 13:32)
    Therefore,
The Gospel is Jesus Christ in me who has fulfilled the New covenant
(Jeremiah 31:31~34,Ezekiel 36:25~26) and Second covenant in me made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
The Second covenant is included in the New covenant.
The main content of the Second covenant established in Moab is Deuteronomy 30:6-14, and the core is 30:6,14.
(Deuteronomy 30:6) "The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live."
Second Covenant is completely different from the
    First covenant made at Horeb,
    (Deuteronomy 29:1)
Which is the law of Moses.
Through Second covenant, that is, by circumcising our hearts with the Holy Spirit, we come to love God and give us the life of God
    (Heart of Christ),
the New covenant is completely fulfilled within me.
Therefore, Jesus has come as the mediator of the New covenant to fulfill this gospel.
    (Hebrews 9:15)

About 13 min in and I'm really shocked at her synopsis of individualism. It seems like a sloppy, half-baked concept. I agree with her that community is very, very important. But that is not at odds with a healthy individualism. Quite the contrary. Community is reduced to legalism and rule-following if a robust individual relationship with God is not foundational to the members. Not *all* laws are communal. The Golden commandment is first to live God with all your heart, soul, and mind (individially). Then it turns communal: to treat others as yourself.

However, we have community being encouraged within the scriptures and I don't see the same encouragement for individualism, which seems to be a pretty modern concept for Christians.

“Sloppy, half-baked”. Pretty sure you missed the point.

Agreed. A great feel good message to encourage us to love each other the way God intended, but even flirting with being able to keep the law is going back to an imperfect system. Praise Jesus he gave us grace to be our motivator now. Love, forgive, all the be this ways to each other not because of law but because it has been done to you in Jesus.

Her preaching beside being forbidden is thin petty & ridiculously false but there’s just enough truth to maintain her income and platform. She’s on thin ice but her balance is just right for deceiving feminists and the feminine men who love them.

She is preaching something that Christ ended! "Christ is the end of the law" ROM 10:4
The law was meant for the Israelites ONLY!
Grace from the Cross of Christ is meant for us the gentiles! IF you mix the two you get a confused gospel what she is preaching! Preaching the law is strengthing sin! "The law(the 10 commandments) is the strength of sin" 1Cor 15:56 She should preach Grace & Righteousness instead! "Awake to Righteousness & sin no more" 1st Cor 15:34
