Marcus, just a small addendum on the Colts. Gus Bradley has actually played more Cover 4 and Cover 2 than Cover 3 this year. After around week 6-7 he really stopped playing Cover 3. Because of a change in his own scheme or personnel available, it's a bit up in the air what kind of DBs he wants.
Niners have botched a lot of early picks but the later rounds have been straight money in the Lynch/Shanahan era. George Kittle, Jauan Jennings, DJ Jones, DJ Reed, Fred Warner, Lenoir, Hufanga, Elijah Mitchell, Greenlaw
I am glad you had Frank Smith going to the Panthers, I have had that idea for a while He helped fix a Bama QB with Tua so I could see him fixing Bryce. It would be funny though how the Panthers would go from Frank to Frank for HC
In terms of the worst draft classes ever, 2016 Cardinals have to be up there all time. Robert Nkemdiche in the 1st round, none of the players they picked lasted more than 3 years on the team. All of them were out of the league by 2021.
*_That's_* the secret to Joe Barry: players on other teams pay him to make them look better with a % of the New Huge Contract they don't merit! It's _genius!!_
Us falcons fans want smith gone and a franchise QB. I’m tired of us not have our guy for the future and getting Kirk cousins would just be paying a ton of money for a guy who’s gonna get hurt
Your raiders gift actually sounds pretty exciting lol. I think everyone would take a "trade down" offseason if they resign Pierce. That's all the fans want lol.
Hey Ik this is a stretch, but maybe a position change for Fields to RB could be a blessing in disguise. He’s an absolutely electric runner (who has a build close to that of Derrick Henry, so he would have the size to do it). Maybe leaning into this can gift Chicago a breakout top tier RB while also allowing them to draft a QB
Idk I feel like Arthur unless he wins out is gone. The owners reaction after that panthers game says it all he’s absolutely furious and you can’t forget that Arthur Smith attached himself to Ridder all year repeatedly said that’s he’s his guy and that he believes in him just for Ridder to probably be the worst starting qb in the nfl this year that carries weight. Honestly would not be surprised if they go out and pay Ben Johnson 20mil a year and say f them picks to move up for Williams or Maye and stop messing around with band aid options and mid round qbs and truly get a dude at that position and a coach that knows how to actually use playmakers
love the content as always. Steelers issues are coaching related though, and doubling down on defense (already the most expensive in the NFL) would be our nightmare as fans NGL Sorry for the diatribe
I pretty much got my Christmas wish and the Commaders lost out. From my post three weeks ago, I was only really hoping for 3rd pick, but they ended up getting the second pick. I don't get the feel Eric Bieniemy will get promoted. I think that was always ify but as the offense faded down the stretch, the odds went down and down until it became very unlikely. I don't think Bieniemy did a bad job, don't feel he did a good job. I think his strength is gameplanning, I think he was a bit weak on stacking plays and making adjustments during the game, I think his game planning was decent, BUT even there he didn't really game plan like he was breaking in a 22/23 year QB. We lead the league in drop backs and especially in the season, compared to the rest of the league were were below average in the amount of quick game used. So while he can design plays okay and excels in the redzone, overall I would probably just give him a C+. He is an okay OC, but not a guy I want to promote cause I think we can do better.
I'd love for Ben Johnson to go to the Chargers!! I'm not totally convinced he's leaving yet but if he does the the Chargers would be the best for him and that QB deserves a coach like him.
Quick note on the Ben Johnson to the Chargers thing: as a Lions fan, I love Ben, and Chargers would definitely be a great fit for him. However, I'd be a touch skeptical of what degree he's able to incorporate Quentin Johnston in with those crossing routes, just because Lions should really be doing the same thing with Jameson Williams (especially given Goff's lackluster deep ball and chemistry with Jamo there), but we really dont outside of like one play a game. Maybe that can change though
@@fullyinflatedfootballpodca2373 That's fair, yea. I guess I just looked at it more from the lens of Jameson could theoretically offer some great YAC ability as Quentin did in college, and Jamo's had better production so far on these jet sweeps/closer to line of scrimmage routes with more space in front of him to accelerate than as a true vertical threat. But Ben Johnson has schemed up some good deep shots too so I can't fault him for that really.
I also initially just looked at Keenan Allen being Ben Johnson's Amon-Ra in Los Angeles, but assuming Mike Williams gets back to be the true vertical threat, ya, Quentin is just such a wild card that can be schemed to do anything so he'd prob be used well
And actually looking back at what I said last, Keenan and Amon-Ra prob isn't the greatest comp outside of being "slower" WRs with natural route running ability, so Ben Johnson has more flexibility on a play-to-play basis with the Chargers than I chose to think at first
I don't like Marcus's gift to the Commanders. I don't think majority of the Commanders fanbase really want Eric Bieniemy as the coach (though some do). I don't feel strongly either way about the job he has done as OC this year, but I personally don't want him as the next coach after Rivera fired, which is almost a given at this point. I think Josh Harris is more a process guy. I don't follow the NBA (76'ers) or NHL (Devils) to know the details of how he handled those organizations, but the Commanders beat reporters seem to think he'll pick a GM and let the GM over their input into the the coach. They seem to think its not his style have a coach centric organization (like the Commanders currently have with Rivera where he basically has some GM decision making authority or like the Patriots have with Belichick). If Harris is focused on the GM and the GM gets a say (with Harris obviously retaining the final say) on the HC, maybe they will like Bieniemy, but its probably more likely they want their own person. In terms of Bieniemy, throughout the year including now, there have been whispers a lot of players don't like him. The rumors are players don't feel he respects their time. 2 hour meetings become 3.5 hour meetings and the players go home 1.5 hours later than they planned. Things like that. Some veterans don't like how vocal he is about calling out players when they mess up. John Keim said he has seen coaches like Bieniemy before for example when he covered the team and they had Marty Schottenheimer as the coach. He said the players grumbled a lot in the preseason about Schottenheimer and during the 0-5 start, but the grumbling went away as the team played better down the stretch (8-3 finish to finish 8-8). One of the problems Bieniemy has had is the hard work and lost of time has not lead to better results. Commanders were 8-8-1 last year, this year they are 4-10 so far. As a Christmas gift I would much rather lose out and get the third overall pick which would give the new front office three options 1) Marvin Harrison Jr. 2) Jayden Daniels 3. Trade down and possibly pick up a first rounder in the 2025 draft. As a fan, all three options are appealing. In terms of can the Commanders do better than Bieniemy. I think they can, but I also think Marcus is probably right, that they are unlikely to get their first pick. John Keim talked to an agent for coaches and he said Josh Harris is viewed favorably. He is viewed as likely to be involved, but to keep his hands out of the details. Sure maybe a Ben Johnson is unattainable because he'll have his choice of destinations, but I don't think the Commanders will necessarily have to settle on the 8th or 9th choice. And again losing out would help. Because having the 3rd pick (or in a dream scenario #2 pick) would make the job more appealing. They will have five top 100 picks including say a top 3 pick and over 100 million in cap space (if they lose out). If they lose out they are guaranteed no worse than the 4th pick. If the Cards win another game and the Commanders lose out that probably gets them to 3 (it seems more likely than not the Commanders will have tie breaker over teh Cards, but not the tiebreaker against either the Pats or Panthers, though its somewhat close with the Pats) and that may be their best case realistic scenario, though there are scenarios where they could get the #2 pick . But beating the Jets while it would feel good in the short term takes away one of the few chips that the Commanders could have that could make the job appealing. If Harris is going to sell the job his selling points will be 1) He is a good owner to work with (and that is part of the reason I think he has not fired Rivera) 2) Cap Space and good draft picks this draft that allows the new coach to put his immediate finger prints on the franchise.
I believe that Calvin will hit the snap count requirements for the jags to already be sending a 3rd to Atlanta, so is the difference with a 3rd and 2nd enough to keep him from being resigned?
He needs either 75 receptions (he’s at 60), 1000 yards, or to play 60% of offensive snaps for it to become a third. It’s already a 4th, because he’s played this year.
Entirely disagree with the Raiders take. I get it I do. Outside looking in it's not great but trust me man we have some special players. Defense playing at a top 10 level. So much better since Mcdaniels left, Tyree is gonna take a year two leap I'm calling it, Koonce has emerged to meet my expectations and really is performing at a high level, I want Pierce and Kelly back as the HC GM I think they can bring in some people they like to just sure up the play calling since Patrick Graham has saved his job I feel, still in a pretty solid spot in the draft if we lose out. Can still get a qb or a dt and then round out the oline. It's not as simple as that and maybe I'm going off a year one madden rebuild mindset but the only think I agreed with is trading Davante. Tons of reciever talent this year even as late as the 4th round you can find a starter imo. Idk maybe I'm wrong but I'm looking at this with 0 ounces of bias I think we can compete given a few pieces are upgraded and I think they can do it. Gotta have faith in my team.
Also I mean I'm not into a 3 year rebuild mindset with how this defense is playing and I don't see how you can waste a prime Maxx Crosby by not going all out on the defense. Get him some pieces on the interior maybe grab a linebacker and a true cb1 and the defense is complete. In 3 years he'll be 30 I'm just not sure you can afford to wait with some of these pieces.
Between Justin Fields' public calls for help in post-game conferences & absolutely no one in Bears' management answering them, yeah, the Bears should waste their high draft pick on something they already have. Then, equally stupidly they can let Matt Eberflus micromanage & confuse them too. Meanwhile Fields can go to a team that would rather win than whatever tf the Bears are doing. I heard a report from someone who attended a Bears practice. Matt Eberflus made Fields catch punts while horse-whispering "you're doing great, Justin" to him. Either he's completely inept &/or part of some MK Ultra psy-op because it's hard to figure out how people Do Not See that the Bears are making Zero Attempts to make things work _with_ Fields. ATL is _not_ a good place for him. Not while Arthur Smith is there. Is there any talent Smith _can't_ squander away? Most teams that want to win have already spent $ in the wrong QBs in their attempts. Rodgers is a terrible fit for the Jets. The Browns (I mean can you _imagine??) & Broncos have locked themselves into limbo for years. Seattle on the other hand has a better receiving room & o-line, when healthy. They may not have a great D, but they aren't terrible, & getting Fields could mean concentrating on building that D. Despite his friendship with D.J. Moore I think that the best thing for Fields is to get out of town. The Raiders, Saints & possibly Giants would all be better fits, if only because of Daboll.
Scherff isn't 6'7" WTF? And I am a Giants fan and 100% believe Neal is a guard btw. I would definetly take Fashanu depending on the situation at the pick but I dont want Alt. Our real christmas gift would have been losing 1 or 2 games we just won and getting a quarterback but maybe they like one at pick 4 or 5. I'm also really looking at wr because a 1 would change a lot for us, edge, and maybe cb round 1
Oddly enough, back when Marcus did a deep dive on the Commanders he talked about Sam Cosmi being a 6'7 Guard and he mentioned Brandon Scheff. And in hte comments I said, Brandon Scherff was not 6'7, if you google his combine measurements he was 6'4 and 5/8ths. Cosmi is 6'5 and 7/8ths (so closer to 6'7 than Scherff, but still not quite 6'6) and Evan Neal is 6/7 and 1/2th. So Neal is almost 3 inches taller than Scherff and an inch and a half taller than Cosmi. But he keeps using that Scherff stat even though its been pointed out its not correct.
@@philibusters23 I just dont know where and how the hell that got in his mind tbh (I mean he doesnt even play like a 6'7" lineman he plays like his size). And I've realized about Marcus, (because I closely follow my Giants, formulate opinions and listen to Talkin Giants because they're the best), that Marcus has actually been quite wrong about a ton of things hes said about my team. Makes me wonder how much he gets wrong with other teams because I dont follow them that closely even though I do like to think I have a good basic overview of every other team in the league with where they are. And I dont blame him for it because he is looking at all 32 giving takes, etc so I wouldn't expect 100% accuracy. Just an observation
I honestly don't know why I thought Scherff was 6'7 but this is the first time someone has checked me on it, so thanks. As for you last point about me being wrong a lot when it comes to stuff like this, , I like to think that this is a rarity. Especially considering Scherff entered the league before when I started draft content/research 🤷♂️
@@fullyinflatedfootballpodca2373 I wasnt talking about stuff like heights necessarily but stuff I noticed as a fan of my team before in the deep dives, etc although I cant remember a direct example now. I do like you, it's not personal or a shot or anything. All I'm saying in that is what I've noticed before with my Giants and that I get it because you're looking at every team so it's more of a macro view I actually think a decent comparison for Neal is Andrus Peat btw off the top of my head, I dont know his game fully though but similar build and I think traits. Hope he doesnt get that contract lol
@@fullyinflatedfootballpodca2373 I went back to the Commanders and it looks like I did not make a comment on Scherff's height. I had a long comment on that video where I addressed a lot of things, but I guess that was one of the things i mentally noted but didn't comment on. Sorry for wrongfully calling you out for making the same mistake despite getting notice.
im sorry but afc championship game is not a gift for the bills. its super bowl or bust anything less is just another year lost with a franchise QB. but offeseaosn i would like to extend daquan Jones and somehow bring back Floyd. We also desperate need of a WR2. Free Saftey is also a big need. not sure if Hyde has another year left in him.
Eric birnemy is absolutely terrible, one of the worst coordinators in the nfl Marcus you need to pay more attention to commanders games. As a die hard fan who watches every all 22 he’s been dreadful. Schemes are terrible and predictable, no run game. Doesn’t get his best players the ball. Whoever says EB is a good coordinator is not watching

I want DJ Reader paid in Cinci before Tee Higgins
Marcus no please I’m an Atlanta fan stop. Ur killing me.
Don’t even need to watch… I’m a chiefs fan, I know I need a wr. But ofc I’m still going to watch lol
All I'm saying in that is what I've noticed before with my Giants and that I get it because you're looking at every team so it's more of a macro view
I actually think a decent comparison for Neal is Andrus Peat btw off the top of my head, I dont know his game fully though but similar build and I think traits.
Eagles should be Shane Steichen to come back 😔
im sorry but afc championship game is not a gift for the bills. its super bowl or bust anything less is just another year lost with a franchise QB. but offeseaosn i would like to extend daquan Jones and somehow bring back Floyd. We also desperate need of a WR2. Free Saftey is also a big need. not sure if Hyde has another year left in him.
I think you guys will be able to get Floyd back.
Browns: Jesus Christ and the apostles
We are not the saints
Why cant coach mac just learn from harbaugh
Damn bros. Marcus prioritizing the wife over us. Breaking my heart right before Christmas :’(
Eric birnemy is absolutely terrible, one of the worst coordinators in the nfl Marcus you need to pay more attention to commanders games.
As a die hard fan who watches every all 22 he’s been dreadful. Schemes are terrible and predictable, no run game. Doesn’t get his best players the ball. Whoever says EB is a good coordinator is not watching
