Honestly, I think Rose deserved the MVP. He led his squad to the first seed and averaged great stats. And I also believe that Nash also deserved the MVP. He led the Suns from one of the worst teams to a 60-win record. And yeah. I do think Nash will lead the Lakers to the playoffs if he and Kobe switched teams.
So you think that a 3rd team all-nba in Shawn Marion, top 5 finisher for sixth man award in Barbosa, and most improved player of the year winner Boris Diaw is comparable to Kwame Brown, Luke Walton, and Smush Parker lol? Those 3 averaged 30+ minutes in the playoffs for the Lakers that year. That's laughable lmao. Lamar Odom was the only serviceable player for them that year. Nash had a good year but he should've been 3rd at least for MVP behind Kobe and Bron. Also, I will never just allow people to overlook Nash's subpar defense. He was at best average and that's probably being too nice.
I mean, hey. If Kobe can lead his team to the playoffs, who knows, Nash can do the same thing as well while also making Odom his own Stoudemire. Oh, and just because Nash sucks at defense, doesn't mean he automatically shouldn't win the MVP. I understand the Malone and Rose decisions. It’s not just about stats but like you said about Kareem....it’s what they mean to their respective teams and their impact. Malone, and Rose were essentially carrying their teams and didn’t have the all star support cast like LBJ 2011 and Malone 1997. Same with Barkley 1993. MJ definitely should have won in 1990
Malone didn't carry his team.....He had Stockton (arguably the most underrated point guard ever) and some quality role players. I didn't know Wilt didn't win MVP the year he averaged 50. Seems ludicrous but I'm curious to what he averaged against the Celtics. What if Bill Russell's defense held Wilt to just 25 points a game for their head to head matchups and the Celtics won every one of those regular season games? I could see voters voting for Bill in that situation.
Wilt avergaed 39.7 pts 28.8 rb in the 10 games he faced Bill Russell. He averaged well over 40 in the 12 game regular season series against the Celtics, but Russell missed 2 of those games. So Russell did limit him to a markedly lower ppg average, but still the highest in the history of the game.

The MVP is given to the most important player to the team. It's not a price given to the best player of the league. So the global team stats are the true important parameter. Also Lebron had wade and bosh and managed to come out with a worse record 2. The only unanimous MVP is Steph, as great as Jordan was he never was a unanimous MVP 3. Kobe put up absurd amount of points but it resulted with the Lakers finishing 7th in West while Nash and the Suns finished 2 in the west. Not to mention Nash had a 50/40/90 season and his main stars were injured that year

He left out a ton about why Nash won. Stoudamire got hurt, two main pieces were lost and he shot 51.2%/43.9%/92.1% with 10.5 assists and the Suns finished 2nd in the West. Kobe shot far worse with far fewer assists, much worse ts% and the Lakers finished 7th in the West. Sure Kobe scored and absurd amount of points and was a better defender, but even just finishing 7th in the West eliminates an mvp candidate the way these things are figured. Plus the Suns did defeat the Lakers in the playoffs, and in that year Nash and Kobe scored much closer in their matchup in the layoffs...something like 28 to 24 or something.
That laker team is a first pick lottery team without Kobe suns without Nash are probably a maybe playoff team the suns didn’t just get better with Nash the got better as a team
Nash deserved that mvp. kobe fans talk about kobe averaging more points but nash was much more efficient and led the suns to a better record. it's hard to imagine a player from the 7th seeded team becoming the mvp. kobe didn't deserve his only mvp either, it should have gone to chris paul.

Bill Russell deserved it in '62 that was his best year too and he was more helpful towards his team leading the league in wins during the regular season.
This video shows me that you have basically put stats above "value" in the MVP award. It's actually a silly argument. The only player that should've never been given is to Steve Nash who was not the most "value"
Steve Nash argument is practically useless because you got guys fighting for their season like lebron and Kobe the stat difference is ridiculous not like lebron and drose where numbers for bron were clearly better but drose lead his team to more wins but no 35 against a 18 on a stacked so here is your lecture best player on best team is not guaranteed mvp especially with a season as weak as Nash the only Nash surpasses these candidates at is wins and fuck the wins because 12 of those we’re probably because of him while 40 wins of lebrons year were because of him not his teammates and all 45 wins of Kobe season were because of Kobe insane performance including that 81 so don’t give the shitty best player on best team arguement you could argue Nash wasn’t even the best on his team

Jordan was the best player in the league basically his whole career. However the MVP is not based purely on "skills". It's largely based on the positive impact you brought to your team. When the narrator said that MJ "should have won the MVP in 1993", he completely overlooked the fact that Charles Barkley took the Phoenix to the best record in the league that year, and the Suns likely would have been an 8th seed without him. Bulls won the chip, but Barkley was the MVP that year.

0:30 MJ won a unanimous league MVP? When? Am I living in some alternate reality? Or is this narrator? MJ never won a unanimous MVP. As far as my memory serves me correct, MJ was close but in 1995-6, he was close but he didn't win the unanimous MVP. Someone voted players like Hakeem and Karl as well. Ergo no unanimous MVP. Please don't make such silly mistakes. I know that you want to make your argument here and I enjoy the content of this channel but don't twist facts and misguide the viewers. MJ never won unanimous league MVP. Shaq got 1 vote away from winning unanimous MVP. And the only player in NBA history to win unanimous league MVP is Stephen Curry And you're a sports channel. You should know about voter fatigue. If someone wins an award a lot of times the voters develop voter fatigue. That's what is happening to Giannis this year. MJ won a lot of awards in the 90s so the voters got tired of MJ winning so much as wanted someone else to win something. Was it right? Hell no. But it wasn't rigged. Drose played his heart out on this one. LBJ took on easy path by joining 2 superstars. No one believe LBJ deserve MVP more than DRose that Season.
Fr. When rose played the Miami super team in the regular season, they couldn’t stop him. He was unstoppable that season.
There’s no easy path🤣🤣🤣
Not only did he lead the Suns from one of the worst teams in the NBA to one of the best teams, he also made his teammates better. Something that Kobe never did. So yeah, that's my opinion. I actually agree with yours, but eh... Sure.
If that’s the case, Kobe taking that Suns team to the finals.
@@docthefirst8168 Nash sucking on defense should be a big negative against him. Offense is only one part of the game. Nash wasn't even average on defense. Just flat out bad. Kobe meanwhile was not only a scoring machine but also a lockdown defender.
The difference between the 2 seasons is too much to say that Nash even slightly deserved mvp 35 points and best defender at his position while a trash ass laker roster to the playoffs dirk had a equal if not better case then Nash dirk put up better numbers although not elite he was a solid defender compared to Nash and his team although decent to good was not as insane has Nash team also lebron James has a very big case 2 averaged the most points he has averaged in his career while leading the cavs to over 50 wins
If you have another star in your team then you are not carrying the team. Carrying is what Kobe did in 2006 or Garnett in 2004 (or maybe for his entire Minnesota days) or Lebron in 2018 (esp playoffs)
@@vikrantverma1125 Stockton was good but anyone pick and rolling to the mail man for as long as he did would look good. Agreed he’s underrated (Stockton) but he was no Pippen or Rodman

It's because back then MVP was player voted and many players thought that Wilt was a selfish ball hog.
