The good ol' Cobra 427 tactic: take the biggest engine you can find, cram it into the smallest chassis possible, and pray that the torque doesn’t turn the frame into a pretzel. This one's gonna be _FUN._
I just wish there were more common even-firing V10s. Even firing V10s with equal-length headers and well-blended banks is one of the best sounds out there, especially at mid-high RPM (7000-11000). It's not practical at all, but if you did a crazy custom split-pin, even-fire, de-stroker crank (to like a 3"-3.5" stroke to let you push 8000-10000rpm safely) and long rod build on the Viper motor I'd, well... I'd be about as stoked for it as I am for the Omega Car. I actually have a bunch more questions about the Omega Car but I don't want to bother you too much with them 😅😅
Yo, you could do a hand clutch and dog box/faceplate the transmission, that way you don't have to use the clutch for shifting, just starts, and then you could have two pedals spaced closer together, but more evenly with relation to the driver's hips for better left foot braking control.
Reminds me of when I started my 800sx build... a buddy and myself took a 1992 Nissan 240sx and stuffed a motor and trans out of a 93 viper in it because and I quote "I want an American Asian car" 😅
People may scoff, but we'll see who's laughing when this takes you to a glorious victory at Le Mans in 1959. This looks like a potentially great project. The frame is a tad crusty, so somebody will spend some time giving that a lot of elbow grease love. Stock up on wire wheel brushes. A couple of clear ergonomic observations. Yer legs iz gonna get real warm. The other big oddity... obvious just from the video view as you sort of roughed out the layout... in driver position, your legs will be oddly pointed off to the left. That looks pretty awkward, not sure how you will deal with that. Even if you move the steering wheel left and position the seat as far left as you can get, that looks funky. A challenge.
I'm wondering where you got your square tube frame for the latest build? It does look like it was a frame for some sort of courier wagon running from Toledo to Hoboken, with some days via Boston, as a daily driver from September through May following the salt truck both ways. The body defies that logic because of its classic lines and timeless stance; however, with a Viper engine, wouldn't it be a reckless decision to have the next generation believe such steering geometry is appropriate for a mail truck, much less a frame that could secure a sportscar to a world class track? In order to avoid such a catastrophe, my friend, Rusty Peters, from the museum that derives half half its name from Rusty, wish to donate our 1985 Camaro, cement blocks and all, for the cause. It is available in Greenville, SC at the Peckerwood Hills Mobile Home Community -- just tell 'em at the security gate, "Rabbit Sent me." You are welcome!
is that thing using c5 corvette front components? 12:20 looks more like parts out of a C4... 14:30 tame it down a bit with a custom forward facing log manifold 16:30 ok thats doable with a high remote might res for the fluids swing box or firewall mounted not floor mounted box maybe best for heat management, honestly too bad its out of scope to stretch the chassis for a c6 tube o doom that would really help handling and a donor car for upgrade parts driveline parts! 🤣 double wall exhaust pipe.
A 20b would fit in much better and be lighter....just saying😅 looks like that's gonna be a blast to build! Never thought I'd say it but I'm jealous of those college kids!
Didn't Ford have a small difficulty with putting the fuel tank behind the rear axle? What was that...Appaloosa?, no...Clydesdale?, no... some kind of horsey thing... got it! Pinto!
Lightweight composite body and basic chassis. I was hoping you were going to put a small displacement turbocharged diesel engine in it and get really good gas mileage. 😮
I lost count how many different chassis you planned putting that engine in 😂 PS you don't have to justify we know you know you have impulsive cool project buying problem 😅
@@CaseyPutsch I hear you 😂 thx for a good laugh. I hope this one somewhat will. Are you planning on running t56? Also, if I may suggest. I think you should consider running motor mounts similar to what I designed for gen 2 cars. Two side plates that sandwiches the block mounting surfaces and a poly sleeve bushing. I wish I had any left to send you a set but they are long gone. That way if you for any reason need to minor adjustments to your engine mounting height you can by simply changing out the side plates. Might also give you more room for headers.
could you stretch the frame, ever so slightly? changes the wheelbase and body work would be needed. But you're trying to stuff a huge engine in there. But, a huge part of me wants you to succeed stuffing that giant engine into the original car. Where there is a will, there is a way. It's challenges like these that force innovation and creative solutions that people would never otherwise come up with.
This thing looks amazing! Give of such strong Chaparral and Can-Am vibe!
THIS is the content we all wanted and stuck around for!
Casey the Car Guy and the Fantastic Trio of Ingenuity!
This will be a nice series for sure.
This will be a weapon on the track. It's such an old-school vibe, but with a little bit of reliability.....touch wood!
This is the stuff I love. It always motivates me to make progress on my own projects, or to try new things.
Really excited to follow this one!
I think this is a Great way to teach aspects of cars, is to build an entire car and work out all the issues.
This will be an amazing project really excited for it and the body looks amazing
new project let's goo
Awesome you got that. I had been watching it on marketplace and deciding if I wanted to pick up that large a project.
Great to see this new project and perfect engine
That would be fun to work on.
Definitely could work with lowering the motor. If it was me I’d dry sump the build. And add a skid plate.

Wow... This would've been cool with an old 250hp V8 in it, but I guess once you go VIPER, you never go back. lol
Can you install the exhaust manifold on backwards? Left one on the right side and right on the left side?

Those thing looks like it will be ROWDY when it's done.
How questionable of an idea would it be to have the exhaust go up and exit on the sides of the car?
For the headers: could you modify a set of forward-mount turbo headers to work?

Does that car use C4 Corvette front and rear suspension?
Yes
Would there be any possibility of mounting the engine somewhat offset to the passenger side to give more room in the driver's footwell?
Not really. quite tight
good question

Didn't Lotus have something to do with the C4 suspension?
So what kind of boat do you race on?

You need to ditch those motor mounts. Factory ones are the soggy as a wet diaper and it will be pain to get the mounting surfaces located just right
I'd mount the engine as far back and as low as possible 😉

Sooo nice!🖐🏻
You could get away with the engine by having a transaxle. That way the motor could go for the back in the firewall and convert to dry sump.
Track car or street car? Either way it is going to be over the top exciting.
Can't we do both?
@@CaseyPutsch Ha! Fair enough. I hope it happens fast enough that the Genius Garage trio get to drive it.
