True. It was really frustrating sometimes on the N64, which had worse controls. Still not great on PC cause the jump physics are a bit weird. The game was made in a weird time when games design was changing in many ways. It shows.
I picked up an n64 cart AFTER getting hooked on the xbone release... Found out the controls for such games were radically evolving at the time. Struggling to beat the tutorial with a decent time because who tf thought moving solely with c buttons while aiming solely with the control stick was ergonomic and a good idea!? How many people do you know who played halo with lefty controls!?!??!
Designer: I want to put a fire-breathing cyborg tyrannosaurus that shoots lasers as the boss of this level. Supervisor: Why would you want a fire-breathing T. Rex as a boss? Designer: Why would you NOT want a fire-breathing T. Rex as a boss?
I appreciate his nervousness, most of the time everyone is calm and I think to myself why aren't u sweating bullets. I understand why he is cause he's only been playing for 4 months and the game is random with the enemy placement.
I was constantly curling my toes and feeling major stress during all those jumps and trick shots. I played turok as a kid, and you nailed it when you say the n64 controller sucked to play Turok. Still one of my favourite N64 games. I couldnt believe it could be beatin that quickly. This was amazing to watch.
Is anyone else just in complete awe of how enormous the world of Turok is? Like, it must be bigger than most games coming out for today's generation consoles, and there'd be no way for you to figure out where to go and what to do. If anyone ever got through this game without a strategy guide, they must've dedicated several controllers and many months to get to the end.
My brother and I played this when it first came out in 1997, but I was only like 6 so it was mostly watching my brother play and we only ever rented it. Now in 2022 I just got the game and beat it for the first time, brought back some good memoires, especially the falling off cliff parts haha
I rented the game as a kid (when renting N64 games was still a thing) and it had the big cheat on the inside cover, so I just teleported to different levels and bosses, then screwed with big head, colorblind and other various cheats. When the store started selling them since they weren't making much profit, I bought it and a dozen others with boxes included.
Turok had some pretty weird faces, but nothing can beat Turok 2's demon children faces. I swear, that game already scared me when I was little, and those kids surely did not help
I swear the intro to Turok 2 was rather messed up in some ways. There was also the problem of the language, I'm italian and when I was 7 I didn't know english so I understood nothing about what was happening.
The joke is, that Hanzo was (idk about the meta atm though) a terrible character in competitive, so everybody flamed people that were trying to make him happen -->there is no pro hanzo, pros know better
God help you if you are watching this year's runs and get an ad at the end of any of the videos. Audio vol. is at 11 for all of them and if you doze off and have auto play on, prepare to piss your pants when the volume switches.
The game was brilliant. Bawkbasoup was a blast to watch. And we got a huge chunk of time at the end where we hear the announcer's beautiful voice. This is probably the highlight of the event for me. But now I'm DYING to know what's all the "Letsa Go" comments about.
so just curious is there a way to exploit the final boss warp for a speed run. does anybody else know about the cheat for no clipping that let's you walk through walls? if you turn that on in long hunter's boss arena and go up through the ceiling fir a about a minute you'll suddenly be in the final boss arena mid fight. i found it as a kid never seen anyone else do it?
Thank you so much for checking out this run
Bawkbasoup nice run. thx
Bawkbasoup amazing run bawk GODJUMP WAS A HIT
Bawkbasoup Awesome run man, let's-a-go!
Love the run, you're too hard on yourself :)
I woud not even be able to do 90% of those jump even with multiple trys...wp man
This is one of the most intense speedruns I have ever seen. You could literally feel the runners adrenaline yourself. Love it!
Turok is a very important game to me. I'm very glad I could see such a great run of it! Good job!

yea it was always the platforms -.-
I know I am in the minority but this is my favorite shooter ever! Was glad to see a speedrun of it.

Designer: Why would you NOT want a fire-breathing T. Rex as a boss?
Nah it was the 90s.
Designer: "I want that firebreathing cyborg T-rex."
Supervisor: "I mean, okay. But what if it also shot lasers though?"
Because even the fire breathing raptors we have don't need lasers.
Let's-a-go! I am very glad to see Bawkbasoup back this year.
Hell yeah! Gouf Custom!
I remembered this being hard, but I didn't realize until watching this that I've never even seen the first boss before.
I appreciate his nervousness, most of the time everyone is calm and I think to myself why aren't u sweating bullets. I understand why he is cause he's only been playing for 4 months and the game is random with the enemy placement.

Codysseus
*LET’S AGO!!!*
this guy is great at explaining while playing, i appreciate him explaining speed runner lingo.
I was constantly curling my toes and feeling major stress during all those jumps and trick shots. I played turok as a kid, and you nailed it when you say the n64 controller sucked to play Turok. The quietest channel on RUclips
The soundtrack, visuals and all the audio took me back many years. Turok series love it or hate it, many memories with the series.
this guy is such a memer I love it

"Let's just friggin' hope that I don't perish" - bawkbasoup

This game still amazes me after 20 years. One of my favourite N64 games. Claimed so many of my childhood hours
I am so glad Nightdive studio remade this. Great run! The runner snipped so many of those tough jumps!
Always thought that one enemy dying sounded like he was yelling "SARSAPARILLA!!!"
Fantastic run, fantastic game ;)
oh my this runner has a wonderful voice O_O
TooRandomEnvi Isn't he the "Let's a go guy" from last year? :)
+R1pZone to be honest ... im not sure .-.
Yep, he ran Silent Hill and Resident Evil last year. He's the best! =)
alright .. thx for letting me know my dude
Yeah, too bad YOU CAN'T HEAR IT!
Holy shit, what a game, what a run... This guy has me white-knuckled the whole time through.
Love watching speed runs of old games I played as a kid. This was a good one. Great run, thanks for posting.
now this is what i like to see in a speedrun, you feel fast just watching it. Excellent run, also hey Fred!
I love this game's sense of speed, it always feels great. Wish I didn't suck at FPS games...
loved this game as a kid. Great run. Your intense commentary is so fun!
This run was on fire. Chat also loved it. Very well done. bawkGo
Who would ever speak poorly of this beautiful man, he's too pure for this world
I could say the same from the guy with the long hair in the background.
*gayness intensifies*
Akato Do you mean MaxyLobes? He streams Jet Set, SH, RE and DMC very often.
Heavy Breathing "OK" Letsa go KEEP THE DONATIONS COMING
This game was a memorable early N64 title. Never got past level 2 as a kid.
I bought the sequel instead Turok 2.
@@airiakizuki5592 I had both never beat the second lvl of either as a kid
These guys are enjoyable to watch, even when under pressure
I still remember the jumps at the end of Level 2. Super memorable maps and jumps, great game.
Great to see you again this year Bawkba, slay a bit!
and Maxy on the couch too, always a treat. Epic run
what an awesome run, to only be running this game for a few months and to smash it like that. Letsago!!!!!!
Soup is such a fun runner :) glad he joined AGDQ 2017
So few months playing this game and that runner is already at such level? Fucking UNBELIEVABLE
I think he's only been *speedrunning* this game for a few months. He's probably been *playing* it for years.
Nice run! Runner seems like nice guy and quite technical run with all the jumps.
Great work, Bawkbasoup! Sorry I couldn't watch this live!
Scorpion missile launcher voted as best weapon!
Finally!! Been waiting for Turok runs.
I love how this game has so many hidden features like the bow critical and the backstab
Bawkbasoup. The legend. The GOAT.
The VOLUME needs to be MUCH LOUDER in all your videos next event please!!!!!!!!!!!! Thx!
I remember playing a Turok game on the PS2, and remember playing the crap out of that one, though I kept dieing on those flying missions.
I like that you can hear him hold his breath before every sketchy jump, I do the exact same thing!
This run was beautiful and very fun to watch.
This was the best run of the marathon
I can’t believe 2017 was 7 years ago. It seems like college was just a year ago for me.
Bawkbasoup is just awesome! Always very funny + very good skill runs.
Thank you. Audio is low compared to many other youtube videos
"pro hanzo" lmao
hanzo is the edgy japanese guy with a bow from overwatch
The joke is, that Hanzo was (idk about the meta atm though) a terrible character in competitive, so everybody flamed people that were trying to make him happen -->there is no pro hanzo, pros know better
Wow, that was extremely intense, thanks soup. Except for the diagonal move movement which made me really motion sick. :D
Fantastic run, brother. That God jump, doe. Cheers.
one of my favorite games growing up :D...used to only have a n64 and i dont regret it :)
this run was super fun. Nice job Bawk.
God help you if you are watching this year's runs and get an ad at the end of any of the videos.
Audio vol. is at 11 for all of them and if you doze off and have auto play on, prepare to piss your pants when the volume switches.
this man deserved more applause
The game was brilliant. Bawkbasoup was a blast to watch. And we got a huge chunk of time at the end where we hear the announcer's beautiful voice. This is probably the highlight of the event for me.
But now I'm DYING to know what's all the "Letsa Go" comments about.
Wow, the jumps in this game really make you sweaty
I remember playing this as a kid. pretty sure it took me the length of the run to beat the first level lol
Bawk: "And this is the end of level one, coming to the hub now"
Crowd:
Turok, Star fox 64, Mario 64. Best christmas ever
I remember the horror of this game on the N64. By that I don't mean the game itself, but framerate in the teens and the N64 controller.
I remember playing this a kid. Cheers.
This is an intense run. Well done! :D
Dude, this guy should have gotten more applause.
inb4 Bawkbasoup gets banned for saying sexy
Turok is such a well made game. One of the first times I got queasy from that N64.
43:18 does he know he can grab the ceiling here and slide?
for me the best speedrun on this Event !
What a cool dude with a cool voice!
What are silent bob and jay doing on the couch?
run starts at 6:52
Three words of my childhood.
I
Am
Tourok
Run starts at 6:50
Very Very tense run! It was hard to look away
Hey bro, at 43:20 you could have done another one of the jump and hold glitch to save probably 10 seconds on the whole run.
one of my childhood games
I never thought I see this game being played on anything else other than a Nintendo 360
Great speed game, great runner
i fucking love this game i remember playing it as a kid and having so much fun
Countdown @ 6:50
Awsome run!
I know this is a running complaint on pretty much all of the videos thus far, but man... the audio is so low.
I'm sure there's an awesome vice article on this legend too you guys should check it out!
Months of my childhood in under an hour :D
I found myself turning my head to the left or right with the slants
Is the runner Cosplaying Gary King from The World's End?????
24:10 what are you saying, this run is amazing :3
AMAZING PHENOMENAL RUN GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!
This guy kicked Turok's ass! Great run. HEY!
6:53 ^_^
No reupload for fixed audio? nearly all of your uploads for AGDQ 2017 were almost inaudible
very impresive run!
OMG! This run was insane!!
What is the line of text at 14:33 ? I could not make it out.
on the eighth day god created turok 😃
My mom worked at akklaim years ago and helped develop this game.
