Thanks for going through the whole 'WALL DRUG' store! Everytime I've seen a traveler go there, they only show a portion...appreciate you! And omg...the prarie dogs were soooooo frickin' adorable! You lucky "dog!" You got to get so damn close! And...did you say CORN???? lol
We are taking our 13 yr old granddaughter to SD next month. We are going to Mt Rushmore & Devil's Tower. Of course we will go to the Badlands & Wall Drugs and other attractions. We are looking forward to Aug and the trip.
Summer 1983. Three friends take a cross country trip in a reconditioned VW pick up. We took the Southern route heading out from CA to the East coast. Coming back, we went more northerly. Having stopped at the Bad Lands, and seeing all the signs yelling at us to stop there, we, too, went to Wall Drug. That place is still etched in my mind for its feeling of high weirdness. The original drug store had, of course, taken over other nearby stores as it expanded; not all of the stores had the same floor, so I remember places where suddenly the floor rose up an inch or down the same amount. The place was really strange, but we got our obligatory cup of water. I also picked up a Lakotah-English dictionary there.
Justin, my 67-year-old Dad and I love your videos! ❤ They give us an opportunity to bond over his childhood road trips and the ones he recreated with my sister and I when we were young. We made many stops at Wall Drug growing up and seeing it in one of your videos is so surreal!
OMGOODNESS!!! I thought I was the only one who knew about Wall. I'm 60 and my parents took us every year we went to see my grandparents. Then my kids grew up going. It's the best cheesy tourist place in the US. Thanks for spotlighting it!!!!
I moved to Washington state from Massachusetts in 2002 driving I-90 practically the entire way. Part of that drive took me through South Dakota. The 'signs' for Wall Drug start before the state line with Minnesota and once you drive into S.D. they appear every 5-10 miles. 'Be Sure to Stop at Wall Drug, Wall, South Dakota. Admittedly the lure of free ice water proved to be a strong motivator considering the temperature was in the 90's that day.
Was telling a friend how awesome wall drug is. Now she can see for herself! Nice job...do those wooden floors still creak when you walk on em? So cool!
Ah the memories. We live in Utah but stopped there on our way home from visiting family on North Dakota 4 or 5 years ago. We also stayed in Rapid City on our way to the Mall of America a few years ago so we went and visited again. We enjoy it.
Ah yes, Wall Drug. First with my folks, then with my wife I've been visiting here everytime we come to the Black Hills since 1957. Just a single store back then now it takes up a whole block. We like to stop for breakfast or failing that, lunch where I can get a buffalo burger. Stopping at Wall Drug is mandatory with our family.
thanks justin, absolutely loved this place came back twice just to see it all. a must see !!!! badlands no words to describe it its just spectacular.!!!!! santa
Thank you for this vlog! It brought back some wonderful memories of visiting Wall Drug and the Badlands with my husband and kids on our way to Mount Rushmore! 😊
I went to Wall Drig as a kid in the early 80s. The bucking horse in the backyard had real horse hair. The current jackalope and bucking horse are a bit more hygienic. 😂
Wall Drugs is totally unbelievable!!! I must watch it again!!!! Loved the prairie dogs too!!! Thanks for showing me this awesome roadside set of stores n attractions!!!!
I'm 59 and my childhood vacations were filled with road side attractions. This store is my childhood and I miss these types of places. Once my dad took us to Disney, that became our new vacation spot, but nothing could beat the mom and pop roadside attractions. Don't get me wrong, Disney is amazing, but before Disney, this was my shangra la
Wow, I love everything about this video. Had never seen a Prairie Dog until this. They are so cute. Thank you so much for showing us the Wall Drug Store, it's now on my Bucket List. This is why I love your channel, I'm always discovering new things. Cheers.
Thanks Justin , you are so fun, energetic and enthusiastic, you make me want to jump in my Bronco and head right up to Wall Drug tomorrow- a 13 hour drive from Albuquerque but you have convinced me that it would be worth every mile!
I loved the Wall Drugstore! It wasn't quite so noisy, though. My late husband bought me a ceramic bowl that I loved. I still have the bowl, but he passed away. It reminds me of him every time I see it on my counter.
This borught back memories to when i was younger! My parents and I took a road trip all the way from Ohio to Idaho. We stopped at Wall Drug on our way from the Badlands to the Black Hills, and I think its one of the biggest cuplrets for the begining of my love for all things kitchy, and my love for silly little road side/tourist attractions! In fact at Wall Drug, I bought a little fluffy jackalope (that was made to look like a realistic stuffed jack rabbit - but with the iconic jackalope antlers) and I still have it to this day on a display of honor in my living room. That trip as a whole is what really sparked my love for road tripping! I hope to one day go to as many places and see as many amazing things as you have the oppertunity to! (that dream may soon be a reality, as I am saving up money to buy an rv!) Thanks for these videos!
I worked there for one summer during college, think the only thing that was worth working there was the nearby attraction areas like Deadwood, Custer State Park, Bear Country, etc. That and I made friends who were on an exchange program from Macedonia. I worked as a floater/gopher primarily. And yes, the times I worked in the backyard that dinosaur was unbelievably loud. The fudge is to die for, as are the donuts. I had a mixed experience working there; I mean it's retail first off, and you're dealing with a plethora of different people, but the coworkers and the general area of the Badlands and Black Hills made it tolerable. All that being said, I'm glad you enjoyed your time! I can't believe you were in my neck of the woods of the Dakotas! It's been forever since a video of yours came on the home page for me, I'm glad it was this one. Happy to see you enjoying everything we have to offer here!
The badlands and South Dakota more broadly were one of the biggest surprises for me when we passed through while we were moving to Texas last year. Such an incredible place with some really amazing views.
As someone originally from nearby Rapid City but moved away for more populated parts of the country, it's always nice to see some familiar locations from back home get the recognition it deserves. Fun fact, when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out, I immediately had flashbacks to visiting Wall Drug just by the sound the boots made on the floors inside stores.
Prairie dogs are a keystone species. Their population loss, largely due to humans, has contributed to suffering of other species and also to many of the water problems now facing the southwestern US. They need to be protected!
Loved this video. I visited the Badlands and Wall drug store back in the late 90's. The drug store has grown since I visited but still just as great as I remember. Thanks for the memories.
Thank you Justin, I love the vid prairie dogs are adorable looking! Wall drug is cool looking. The scenery being very different from what I see everyday looks surreal.
Still wanting to check this place after seeing it in the 2020 film, Nomadland. Two of the characters work there as they move around from place to place. Excellent film!
Love me some Wall Drug! Old time Americana at it's best! Been there a few times on our Badlands vacations! If you ever get a chance, South Dakota is one of the best places to rent ATV's and get off the beaten path. South Dakota is even more beautiful on a quad because you see things you'd never see from the road.
I remember when I was a kid around 8-11 years old in the early 90s taking trips with my dad to Nebraska. We used to go back out on the ranch land and hunt the prairie dogs with a 22. They are huge hazards for cattle with the holes they make, cattle with collapse the holes and break legs. We would also go to the feed store and get tablets to put in the holes, water them, and stuff the hole with newspaper to gas them to kill them.

There is a lot to see here In South Dakota... however there is a place in Missouri that is something similar to Wall Drug, its in a little hidden place called Uranus Missouri home of the world famous Uranus Fudge Factory! if you haven't checked that out its definately a fun adventure
We have an abundance of those prairie dogs living here in one of our parks in Lawton, OK. They also have an area out in our Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, which is located right next to Lawton and Fort Sill Army Post. They are fenced off with that wooden fence like they have there. They aren't as docile here in town as those ones are, though.
Justin!! On your way back stop in Monument Colorado!!! I run a restaurant and would love to feed you. My restaurant reminds of Knotts Berry Farm! You would love it. Would love to show you around Colorado Springs and beyond!!! ❤ come see us!!
At 23:35 the bag of Wilderness Series one collection, what's going on with the bear & deer is how you make a spin off called Strange Wilderness series collection
Hi Justin. Just a comment you made in the area of Wall Drugs while in the area of the homage to the original little white store. You said that it is the largest drug store in the"west." If I'm not mistaken , South Dakota is not in the "west". At best isn't it actually somewhere in the "middle"?
We call those rodents Richardson Ground squirrels or more commonly Gophers in Canada. In Torrington Alberta we have a twelve foot statue of an anamorphic Gopher named Clem T. GoFur
Thanks for the thumbs up homies... you're my #1 prairie dawgz
Thanks for going through the whole 'WALL DRUG' store! Everytime I've seen a traveler go there, they only show a portion...appreciate you! And omg...the prarie dogs were soooooo frickin' adorable! You lucky "dog!" You got to get so damn close! And...did you say CORN???? lol
Added my like in specific appreciation of your post 😂 thanks for the adventure!
In the Oldddddddddd Wessssttt!
What do you mean "80 foot dinosaur"? That clearly only has four feet.
I appreciate that you showed the store, I would have never known about Glow in the Dark Prairie Dog T-shirts. :)

Thanks, Justin, for visiting and showing the places that some of us wish to visit but can't.❤
Love it!!!!!!❤

I still have my Wall Drug bumper sticker I got on a road trip ad a teen in 1994. Ahh, memories.
Oh my gosh the really fluffy one sitting there eating the peanut while Justin's talking about him. Soooo floofy 😊❤

Devil's Tower is a great place to visit when you are in the area you are in. There is a field on the way out with tons of prairie dogs. :-)
Then stop by Gillette and say “Hi!” brotha!

That dinosaur animatronic reminds me of the same one I remember seeing at the Ripley's Believe or Not museum in San Antonio, Tx.

Thank you! Havent been to Wall Drug and South Dakota in over 20 years. Loved it!
One of my stops while during from North Dakota to California and back. This place and Little America are great for a rest and lunch.!
Thanks for the shout out Justin!🐇
I’ve been there! And I was driving my white Mark III across country at the time! What a fun one!
Wow, that place is so amazing!
They should build a 60ft Bill Murray trying to catch the 10ft gopher.
“Go home and sleep well” will be my new phrase once I am done with my day!
I see you took my suggestion to visit this place seriously. Thanks!
Absolute beautiful country in that area. The little restaurant next to Wall drugs has some amazing food.
Hey Justin good vlog and thank you and keep up the good you do love jarl

I last visited Wall Drug in 2009- I wondered if the T-Rex was still there (and yes, I rode the Jackalope in the back yard!)

I've been to this prairie dog place it was a lot of fun for the fam! Wall Drug, too. I remember it was a very windy June day and very DRY
How cool! Would be so epic to wander in there for the day.

I knew the 3rd corn 🌽 was coming but the 4th caught me off guard 😂

Lubbock, Texas, has a Prairie dog town as well. Unfortunately, there's not a giant statue.
Peanuts are bad for Prarie dogs😢😢😢 You would think the Ranch would know this.
Vacationed in that part of the country when I was a tween!
Have you gone to the Corn Palace in Mitchell SD? It would be right up your alley
If you like prairie-dogs, you should come to Huchinson, KS! They even have an urban legend about them! =)
It's the saying "would you look at the size of..." A quote from something?
