Robinson is clearly rusty--missing and mistiming his blows--but the film (in better shape than Jimmy Jacobs seems to indicate, perhaps the flaw is in the cut-off lower third) is a bit too jerky always to be sure which blows are landing solidly. Overall, the bout is too close to be able to say who deserved it and this isn't the whole bout. Still, you can see why most brush off claims for Mayweather over Robinson. Ray is looking to set up something serious at every moment, not just scoring enough to get an edge in the vote, then rolling and scuttling away to kill the clock.
I've seen other fight films where the camera was positioned much farther away from ringside, and the amount of smoke throughout the arena was ridiculous.

Robinson stayed sharp by constantly fighting in the ring. A heavy bag doesn't hit back.
