I truly believe the producers are paying them because i know that bullshit would have been canceled a long time ago snl was funny when chris farley, david spade and adam Sandler were on it.
If you watch the top clips of MadTv now you will feel like you used to live in a parrallel universe or alternate timeline, You realize all the race jokes, gay jokes, gender jokes, fat jokes that were simple and slid in between moments have been taken out of everything. They literally had a white guy say the racist jokes to the black actors, Today they would never, AND EVERYONE was ok with it because they WERE AIMING for americans of all races to join in on the fun and the middle class younger adults. I didn't realize how badly wokeness affected even me because watching it made ME shocked when I thought that part of me was still in tact.. Some of it obviously got damaged if it made surprised re watching it, It was so normal and FUN, It made life feel raw and real, and everyoen in society being exposed to that daily actually seemed to have MORE appreciation for eachother because there was NO ELEPHANT in the room. People could BREATH! Laugh and actually Love being around others especially at comedy shows where they pulled NO punches, It's why comedians who even dip there toe just a little get the audience back so fast, People can feel the void and are sick of the virtue signalling. People back then instinctivly knew racism was wrong and that was why it was being joked about, You didn't need to really talk about it because when someone WAS being actually racist they looked as absurd as the characters on tv shows. They were laughed at!
Thank you so much for this. I was sad when MadTV got cancelled. I still reference one liners and reminisce about Mo Collins with Michael McDonald. "No.....I don't wanna say it."
that particular cast in the thumbnail was arguably the best crew perfect balance everyone did amazing..acting impersonations..etc... and the writing was on point too
Madtv was the best, and way edgier sketch than SNL. I will always love SNL it's great, but Madtv you go back and you're like, "Whoa they actually said that, or did that?" Like they really made some social statements as well as went out of the box with comedy. They did not play it safe and it's great to see when you revisit the sketches.
7:10, I like the references to Homey the Clown and Fire Marshall Bill, but those are In Living Color characters. it feels like they should've mentioned other Mad TV mainstays besides Ms. Swan, like the Spishak salespeople, the Vancome Lady, Rusty, the coffee guy with the big eyes, etc.

MadTV was consistently funnier than SNL because Mad wasn't afraid to take off the gloves and dig for whatever would make us laugh. In Living Color did the same thing. There were years that I didn't watch SNL because let's face it, some seasons really sucked, but I never missed Mad and ILC.
I love that you guys deep dive into shows, people and movies we love! There's a million videos on Saturday Night Live already, it's so dope that you guys show love to the other sketch shows, and shows in general that most people don't take the time to really analyze. Even your character break downs from girlfriends, so dope, because how much more do I need to know about Ross and Rachel 🤣
Those first few seasons of mad tv were something special. I can remember discovering mad tv in the TV guide being put on at something like 2 in the morning when I became curious about it noticing it has the word mad in it. I was reading mad magazine around that time so the term mad had become synonymous with comedy, prompting me to set the vcr to record it so I could see that mystery show that was put on a time slot that very few people would bother to watch. I can remember the feeling when discovering what a comedy gem I had unearthed. It was truly amazing to seemingly the only person in my country who knew about what mad tv is and how funny it was. Also I have to mention that Nicole Sullivan was such a honey back in the nineties
Mad TV was my isht. A lot of them went on to voice overs in Family Guy and other cartoon network shows. Also, some wrote on the US version of Shameless. I believe Mad TV had way more memorable moments from Melinda and Belinda, to Stuart, and the infamous Aries Spears Magic Johnson Kwanzaa or Bobby Brown and Whitney with Deborah Wilson. Will Sasso as Steven Siegel. For about 2 weeks now no lie I have been signing "You are the love of my life"... when Will and I think Mo make fun of the classic love song albums. For real mad TV, def comedy jam and comic view for me really set the bar for what comedy is and was. Even though I grew up watching In living color and Martin. Those shows were definitely pivotal in my comedic palate. Awesome to see what happened.
7 minutes in, you bring up three examples of memorable characters from in living color lol why not talk about ms. swan, stuart, or the maniacal coffee addict guy??

It would do fine.
I used to live for In living color and Mad tv.
I used to freaking love mad tv! I used to sneak and watch it every Saturday night
I used to love it too.
mad tv from 1995-2003 was UNTOUCHABLE!
How in dafuq y’all leave Arie Spears out of this conversation?!! Comedy Hype is on some bullshit!!!!
No they arent.
The 80's 90's and 00's were the best years for comedy. It was fun while it lasted. Dave Chappelle and South Park are our only Hope's, May God be with them.🙏
i will FOREVER hold a grudge for not allowing jordan peele to leave BECAUSE OF A STUPID CONTRACT!
What does Debra say? Looking at old interviews says alot. ☺️
It was alledged that as negotiations for salaries heated up , racial slurs being said to cast members was a common topic until it became unbearable. Debra, Orlando and Aries were appalled at what they would hear from cast members🥺
Exactly. And they were labeled as "trouble-makers" when they would tell the producers what was going on. Just sad.
The racist bs came from Alex Borstein and BEST part. Within this video,, Alex is quote to say....... "Most of our fans are rainbow" = YA DON'T SAY ?????????????
@@beeboo2523 Yes!! Phil Lamar and Deb both said Alex was mad problematic 😤😤
@@martinacold9255 - I "think" I heard Aries being the 1 who called out Alex. But regardless. There were egos on the set. Plus I'll take the weakest Mad Skit vs the so-called best ShiTNL skit. Random Thought - When they had Kenan Thompson play R Kelly on SNL - I was like W T FFFFFFF is this weak sh1+ and then you got the cornball muthfuqqaz say on RUclips "I was crying it was so funny" - Yup so funny that I watched 45 seconds and I TURNT on something else.
@@beeboo2523 I'm right with you....I liked SNL for the legends Murphy, Belushi, Farley. Madtv was sooo unique and cool. The whole cast was in sync and when newbies were introduced it was easy to welcome them like family. The talent was remarkable. I moved from the states and now work for an NGO in Asia but I do my best to keep up with conversations with the people. Thank you for your insight 🌺
SNL's ratings aren't that great neither. SNL is only still around because the producer's are basically paying NBC to keep on the air.
Yeah a lot of people didn't watch that stale bread shit.
I truly believe the producers are paying them because i know that bullshit would have been canceled a long time ago snl was funny when chris farley, david spade and adam Sandler were on it.
Mad is The only show that ages great
Mad TV will always be a thousand times better than SNL Everytime, it was the highlight of my Saturday night in the 90s
After the original cast was gone it was not funny anymore
It wasn’t at all
At all
Yes .... the funny cast left off. Phil Lamarr, Artie Lange, Dave Herman, Debra Wilson, Nick Calendo.
98-2001 mad tv had it.
For real!
One of the funniest skits show period. The entire cast brought something different and they were extremely diverse. Snl is not even close to this.
Laugh and actually Love being around others
especially at comedy shows where they pulled NO punches, It's why comedians who even dip there toe just a little get the audience back so fast, People can feel the void and are sick of the virtue signalling. People back then instinctivly knew racism was wrong and that was why it was being joked about, You didn't need to really talk about it because when someone WAS being actually racist they looked as absurd as the characters on tv shows. They were laughed at!
It also stared stand up comedian AIRES SPEARS, geez how ya’ll miss that one he was on the original cast. Smh
I was amazed by that too!
Thank you so much for this. I was sad when MadTV got cancelled. I still reference one liners and reminisce about Mo Collins with Michael McDonald. "No.....I don't wanna say it."
that particular cast in the thumbnail was arguably the best crew perfect balance everyone did amazing..acting impersonations..etc... and the writing was on point too
I miss comedians like Mo Collins, Michael McDonald and Debra Wilson. I love seeing Nicole in shows. Such timeless sketches Omg.
Mo collins was funny tooo! Such underappreciated actors and comedians
I wish y'all or someone would do something about the show Friday's
I know it only last two seasons but those two seasons it was really rocking
Mad TV was better than SNL.
SNL is so dry
Funnier, not better
@@blackguyofthesouth2161 that makes no sense at all
MADTV was definitely the new “In Living Color”! I remember watching it at times as a kid 🤣!
Mad TV had more intelligent and biting satire than SNL which barely had any.
This was my favorite show as a kid. It developed my humor. I couldn't get enough of it
the 1999-2002 seasons of MADtv were untouchable. i wish i could go back just to relive the sketches
thank you for this video
Whitney Screws Up The Classics is my all time favorite MadTv skit
"Smoking on the dock of a bay" is a ringtone on my phone now
The first two seasons were comedic gold. Insane amount of talent on those two seasons.
Agreed. Kinda make me wtf was going on with the show after season 3
I always gravitate more to MadTv
MadTV was the expression of the working class society where SNL was bourgeois. MadTV was raw.
The good shows are always canceled, and the shows like SNL and friends stay on air forever lol
Mad Tv was funnier than SNL. PLZ bring it back, Orlando jones, Aries Spear, bobby lee, Deborah Wilson, keegan, Jordan peele, were some of the funniest cast
SNL had NOTHING on this show!!
Except viewers and ratings
THIS is the Comedy Hype we love!!!! Not the gossip, opinion discussion shit.. true comedy stories!!!! Thank you!!!! We need these
This show was fresh and funny. Fox should have promoted Mad TV better-the whole cast was funny and talented. SNL is a long running show but they have a lot of hits and misses.
This is incredibly well done! Always came home from school and watched MadTV on Comedy Central ASAP! And would laugh so hard about it with my friends at school the next day. Nicole Sullivan,Debra Wilson, Alex Borstein, and Michael McDonalds were golden. Then along came Key and Peele. Trapped in the Cupboard was just so funny.
I never met a person quite like you
Someone that makes me feel loved
I wanna be the one that you are thinking of
The one that brightens your day
Because there's nobody else
That can do the things you do forever
I'll be there for you
So when you feel the need to love
Let me be the one you're thinking of
Because I will make it so right
Forever (forever) and ever (and ever)
I will always be there for you
Forever (forever) and ever (and ever)
I will always be there for you
Baby I promise
I've got to tell you, what I feel in my heart
I wrote this song just to say
No one's ever gonna love me, nobody but you
I'm yours from this very day
'Cause there's nobody else
That can make me feel the way you do
I promise I'll always be true
So when you feel the need to love
Let me be the one you're thinking of
Because I will make it so right
Forever (forever) and ever (and ever)
I will always be there for you (I will always be there for you)
Forever (forever) and ever (and ever)
I will always be there for you (I will always be there for you)
Forever (forever) and ever (and ever)
I will always be there for you baby
To be with you is all I ever hoped for
You can teach me so very much (I will always be there for you)
And I can show you a few things too (I will always be there for you)
Yeah, I guess it's true what you said about the other night
You know about me growing into a man
But it's not just me (I will always be there for you)
We're growing (girl just call out my name)
But I wanna let you know (listen girl)
No matter how far away you go
Rain or shine (I will always be there for you)
I'm yours and you're mine and I will always be there for you
Girl just run to me 'cause there uh, uh
There'll never be another no, uh, uh, uh
There'll never be another for me (I will always be there for you) 👫🏽❤🎶🎵🌙🌉🌃🌌
Mo collins as Lorraine is one of the funniest series of sketches ever to me lmao
I loved Madtv on fox and always wondered why it ended. Snl always came off as being so dry and lacked diversity..
Big facts. Bobby Lee, the Asian cast member, was on MAD TV by the 4th or 5th season. SNL took 46 seasons to cast its first Asian cast member, Bowen Yang.
@@southpaw2k1 yeah snl caters to a specific audience which never sat well with me. Madtv gave minorities a platform and i applaud them for that. Bobby Lee was hilarious btw!!
Mo Collins' "Lorraine" was also an unforgettable character. "Hah?"
SNL was and is boring I thought it was over after MADtv came out and it still is amazing that there still on air
Will Sasso's take on Kenny Rogers is without question one of the greatest things to ever occur in the history of the world!
I loved his Steven Segal as well.
In the history of comedy---YES! Slapstick, spastic mannerisms, impersonations pushed to the limit--- I love it. Don't forget his twitching ELVIS!
Hi I'm Kenny Rogers and this is Jackass.
I was blown away when I first saw mad tv. I still do. Take a bow all of you mad tv stars. You are well remembered.
Ms swan and Stuart were my favorite sketches
MAD TV was very funny
Mo and Stephanie always made Michael Mcdonald break character and laugh I loved it
7 minutes in, you bring up three examples of memorable characters from in living color lol why not talk about ms. swan, stuart, or the maniacal coffee addict guy??
I miss Miss Swan! And Bunifah and the Vancome Lady! Who can forget the hilarious “literally” sketches? Mad TV was amazing
Madtv was our snl, simple as that.
Happy 29th Anniversary To MAD TV. 💯
Uuuugh...it was a sad time knowing the show was ending for good. It seems like there will NEVER be a DVD release of the show. 😫
literally every single person on that cast was hilarious and i miss the show so much!
some i loved will sasso's "steven sagal"
mo collins- doing almost anything
alex bornstein- "mrs swan"!
🤣🤣🤣😭
Ooohhh-ohh
Is this the end?
Are you my friend?
It seems to me, you ought to be free
You used to be mine when the chips were down
You used to be mine when I weren't around
Girl, can't you see how I feel?
All these feelings that I feel are real
Oh, girl, can't you see I need you?
Is this the end?
Are you my friend? (Ooh)
It seems to me, you ought to be free

Aw, baby, ooh, is this the end?
Aw, baby, is this the end?
Mama told me one day it was gonna happen
But she never told me when
She told me it would happen when I was much older
Wish it would've happened then (Is this the end?)

I gotta know, I gotta know, I gotta know

That pic on the beginning season 5 was the golden cast. No one could do no wrong.
I see Aries Spears wasn't mentioned, but hey . . . they really did put a lot of funny ass mofos on. And it's fucking sad, cause SNL's only comedic value is their hilarious females (McKinnon, Bryant, Strong, the features are coming with it too) and Weekend Update and whenever a "funny" machine-washed vet returns (sometimes).
I'm glad I was there when it all began and got to see it run its course. It will forever be one of the best shows ever conceived and brought to life by the entire cast.
Mad tv was awesome
Stuart was always my favorite! So great! XD
SNL is not funny, AT ALL!
Spy vs Spy, Ms Swan and Lowered Expectations were the best ones
All the best cast members left. Towards the end I couldn't get into the series. Love Phil and will sasso
This segment has the worthiness & quality of an episode of TV One’s Unsung, well done Comedy Hype. Mad TV will forever be right up there with In Living Color in the TV comedy hall of fame.
I always watched Madtv SNL was not funny to me and tight assed.
Thank you for that toad or frog. Had me smiling the whole video. 😂
