Sheer genius. And none of it would work without some of the best musicians in the business.
I'm pretty sure everyone appreciates all the pausing, especially the '30 second rewind' where you play the first 30 seconds and then start it again (lol), but you find things on your first listen that most people overlook after listening to songs countless times. You are definitely the best reaction channel to watch
Kai got that machine gun effect when he plays, like he’s going a thousand miles an hour. Love them both, and very happy that Jukka is still very much involved with the band.
@@aeldin131 Well, Kai needs that speed and stamina because of Wintersun's insanity...im glad he's adapted it well for Nightwish's new stuff, and the updated older stuff
Floor said herself she's lucky to have the lungs of a deep sea diver. I'm always surprised that not more reacters comment on her breath control, but your comments are always on point.
Yeah, Marco is so cool. He's just one step behind on the scale of epicness behind Tuomas and Floor because he yet to have a species named after him. Tanidromites Nightwishorum!
Nova Ezz Yes the title Marco Hietala ”The Voice of Finland” is quite new one and is linked to a Facebook group with same title established in April 2018. Earlier he was preferred to ”The Golden Throat of Metal” and that is more known in Finland.
I absolutely, 100%, love, love, LOVE your reactions to Nightwish. You actually make me laugh at your facial reactions. I am BLOWN AWAY at how much detail you pick out and are able to articulate instead of (for example) my saying, "That was AWESOME", but never able to say specifically why. Thank you so much!!!
greetings from Germany and please don't stop pausing. with Pause you do, you have really interesting things to say, especially as there are many reactions with nightwish right now and yours stands out.
It really feels good when people who know what they're talking about (musicians, vocal coaches, etc) are amazed by your favorite band. Especially when you have no one of your direct friends or family who listens to them. My best friend listens to Indie Rock. So when I put on something that's slightly metal-ish, she complains that it's 'too loud'. lol.
Haha, I feel exactly the same. That's why I have uber-good headphones... Also, sometimes I take my car, go to the ice-cream-bar nearby, buy something good, then spend some time alone in the care listening to Nightwish way too loud for a while. Some call that pathetic, I call it quality of life.
@@cornflowerofsweden1288 Pathetic? I call it self care. We need our little moments of personal joy and comfort. Pick me up next time. We'll go for icecream together! lol
@@black4pienus Can I join? I understand completely what you feel. :-D
Hhnnnngh, we just gonna have to wait The Greatest Show on Earth 😂 This song is actually from their "Oceanborn" album, which was released 22 years ago. The song is a bit different with Floor now, but as good as it was back then. Also Marco&Floor singing this together is just deep, dark and powerful. Got the chills. Hail the Oceanborn! ✨
I feel this song is a bit underrated compared to 'The Big Three'. This one deserves to be up there as it's comparable in its complexity and technicality. Also, there's just so much going on, building up until it's almost too much. But just before it becomes utter chaos, the song changes into this beautiful and almost calming ending. I love it. It's definitely in my Nightwish top 10.
I watched many many Nightwish reactions, but you are my absolutely favourite! You are smart, sympathic and passionated. By the way: I love your accent! ♡ Can‘t wait for Greatest Show on Earth ♡
i absolutely love this song, and have seen the live video so many times, AS WELL as having seen the whole concert numerous times, and im just now realizing that troy was using the ebow (i think) to do the bit of wavy leadwork in the last section and ive always heard it but never realized troy was on stage playing. im now having an existential crisis.
When you get to Greatest Show, maybe another poll on which version. Nightwish just released their Wembley version yesterday and it's just outstanding. The Tampere version is awesome as well, but all past reactions were of that one. The Wembley version has better videography - in my view - and they changed it up a bit at the beginning by adding Troy on guitar. Speaking of which, I've not heard a guitar played the way he did and you might find that interesting. Also a cameo by Richard Dawkins. Personally, I'd recommend this newer release. As always, great analysis of this one. Nothing Nightwish does, it seems, is predictable.
Getting home from work on saturdays to your weekly Nightwish reaction is such a treat. Don't apologize for pausing, we're here not only for your reactions but for all the interesting things you have to say!
Chase, you're definitely the most skilled from people doing reactions. I am really new in Nightwish, and also because of your perfect analytical skills I can enjoy it more then just normal music. Keep on doing it. Thank you.
I can't help but wonder how surreal it must feel for the original band members that, after the hardship and desperation of the late tarja and anette era, they really seem to have found the perfect jewels to mend their musical crown, not only letting it shine brighter than ever but also in colors that weren't possible before. Just comparing old concert recordings, especially from the NA tour where Anette ended up leaving, you can really see how their impressions change from doubt and uncertainty to pure joy again...
So, Chase, you mentioned the drummer quite a bit today. It's Time for some Wintersun. Kai's other band, before joining Nightwish. Live Rehearsals from Sonic Pump Studios. He might be known for drumming "a bit" faster...
I feel Tuomas got so much freedom and ability to let his creativity roam free with amazing members like there are right this moment in Nightwish. He challenges himself and everyone else to the maximum.
Man, for a second I was in the most epic Duke Nuke'm drop-in ever... then I was snapped back to reality... EDIT: You can hear shit that I've never even noticed in music before. You actually improve my enjoyment of music. Seriously, don't worry about the pauses - it's amazing shit.
From beginning of the frantic part there's 9 counts until Floor hits the high note and 9 counts in between. That's probably how her timing is so accurate.
Keep on pausing when you see fit... 2 reasons: 😉 there is always an interesting observation to share with us; and you always bring it back to an earlier point so the experience doesn't get lost. Great job again Chase! Enjoyed it.
Nice Reaction, thank you..........Pause as much as YOU want. When you pause....I learn ! When some reactors pause, it's about them not the music, my as well be crickets chirping. When you watch this again ( you will ) check out Emppu before Floor holds THE NOTE. He knows what is coming and is totally immersed by it..Very cool, he's heard it hundreds of times and still is awed by it.
Thanks for making me rediscover those songs in a whole new light, making me almost relive the excitement of the first listen. Your channel has been a godsend for Nightwish fans like me. Now I am extremely curious to see your reactions for the songs Dead Boy's Poem and Slaying The Dreamer from the same show. And please keep pacing yourself like you are right now, as I have seen too many reactors react to several videos a week or even a day and be done with Nightwish after a short time, I find it much better to alternate like you do, which means we will be exploring Nightwish with you for a while and this will let Nightwish fans time to discover your wonderful channel, plus I am also discovering other great musical acts. 😀
We're here because you pause and then tell us great information. I enjoy the informative pauses, what is a deal breaker for me is people who skip parts of the song, and you don't do that.
Yes they are all special but you're right, she is very special, a force of nature. They all compliment each other and the band. Wonderful! And we all get to enjoy their masterpiece performances
I regret that I have only one like to give. So I'll give you a comment too :) Also, it's gonna be a helluva ride whenever you get around to listening to the new album. I suggest listening to it in the order listed on the album, instead of taking it out of context and skipping around. I do hope that you'll also review/react to the instrumental half as well.
Thanks for your insight once again. I for one can totally understand (and appreciate) that you have to pause and rewind. There are so many layers in even the simplest songs (or pieces) of Nightwish that if one wants to analyse them, you can't listen through it and think you'l remember even half of what you were going to say.
Nightwish Saturday has become one of the consistent weekend highlights. As for the pausing, do exactly how much of that and rewinding as you like. It makes no sense coming to these videos just to hear the song play from start to end, that can be done at any time. We're here to get your thoughts on the songs. This song is from a tour of what was an album that showed the journey of the band from start to now and it's a great reason why I hope that Nightwish will always do live albums/Blu-rays for every tour since not only are we getting to hear the new songs of an album live, they also mix in different old songs so we get Floor's version of them, which tend to be pretty different (sometimes in the arrangement as well). They said they aren't interested in doing a best of album where they rerecord songs, but they don't have to since they are so amazing live that you never lose anything compared to studio recordings.
I believe You are ready for the Greatest Show on Earth, Tampere version. This is a masterpiece, as simple as that. And if you want more from Buenos Aires 2018, then Dead Boy's Poem, are considered very close to Ghost love Score - Floor is phenomenal, especially her stage performance - she visualize this song as if she were from another Galaxy. And reaction from you was once again - top class. You really do know what you are talking about and you really do know how to explain it to us mortal viewers - and you have become addicted to Nightwish, and not just Floor 👍👍👍🤘🤘🤘
Wow, she really lets loose on this one. First time hearing that song, there is just an insane level of talent on that stage. Amazing. I'm not even going to guess at the time signature and what each instrument is doing within it, but it's impressive.
We are here because you pause and rewind and miss nothing. You react to everything and that it is what we enjoy! I was waiting for this song, one of my favorites.. though I do favor almost all of their songs :P Nice man, awesome reaction!
Please, you are the one dude that doesn't have to apologise for pausing. You taught me something new about one of my Nightwish favorites... Again! Now, please, for the love of all that's holy, please do GHOST RIVER!
Haha! Glad you like it! This was the performance where I was like, Ok Kai is a BEAST! Hope Marco's While your lips are still red will happen. Such a beautiful slower song.
Glad you could appreciate this song. It seems to me so many reactors can't get past the surface sound and don't seem to be able to follow it. They miss the whole experience. Thank you for this reaction 😀👍
You will find oceans all through Tuomas's work. Remember, he IS the Devonian Sea. They deafen me with endless love. And they sparkle my scenery. They are a dark chest of wonders. How big are her lungs? 🤣 She continues to amaze.
Man, I love watching you react to each other nightwish song so much. Your face sometimes is priceless. By the way, it seems you could be nearly ready for "the greatest show on earth" live Tampere 2015 or also new released official live version with also some awesome footage. This composition will let you see clearly why Tuomas is called the "Metal-Mozart". This is such a wonderful, surprising and melodic Mountain of a song, travelling from the beginning of the universe till the end. Before I suggest "shutter before the beautiful" wembley 2015 or "weak fantasy" Tampere 2015.
This was the Decades tour where they played a lot of older, pre-Floor songs. Personal favourites from this show are Slaying The Dreamer, Dead Boy's Poem and Gethsemane. As for the greatest show on earth build up, you're just missing Troy. Perhaps My Walden, Last of The Wilds or Elan live. He is lead vocal on new song Harvest, for which there is a lyric video. I really like his duet with Floor on How's The Heart, which is stunning but not the full band version.
"How big are her lungs?'..... Yes.... Amazed and confused but enjoying it..... Shows Kai's skills. If I didn't know he is/was a drum teacher before, I would now!... It's not like Jukka's style but it works too!... Thanks for the entertainment and the information, as always! :D
If I'm not mistaken, she was recovering from a cold here wasnt she? Anybody else hear about this too? For her to sound this good while not at %100 shows how good she is.
I agree with the pausing. I love your uniqueness of your analysis. I learn so much about songs that I've already heard many times. Thanks for taking the time to provide your insightful comments. Our ears all pick up different things so I love learning what other people hear and training my ears to also pay attention to different 'layers' and techniques.
Thank you for your reactions! It's nice to know I am not alone in musician - music geek-dom. :D It is refreshing to find a like tribe. You say things that I think and keep to myself, except with other musicians. Until the next time. Play on, enjoy!

The song is amazing and we appreciate it. However, the way you explain us all the aspects makes us to appreciate it even more. No man, the pauses are needed. Speaking for myself, when you pause I'm like: "ok, he's about to explain us something [full attention mode engaged]". Thanks man, you make us realize how epic this song is.
Nightwish is amazing, no doubt about that, but your capacity of analyzing, understanding their music is also out of this world !! Your reactions fantastic to watch for us, Nightwish fans, thanks a lot !!!
If you look to do more Tarja, I'd recommend either Planet Hell or Sleeping Sun from End of an Era I don't know much If there is much live stuff with Anette but I really liked Slow Love Slow from Imaginaerum Another great Nightwish song in general is FantasMic, although I don't think that there's a proper live version of that For more Marco, I'd go with While Your Lips Are Stil Red or Tides from his and his brothers band Tarot
never apologize for going back in a Nightwish song. we will listen to it with you over and over again. 😁 great pick for a reaction. one of my favorite songs (as every song that involves both Floor and Marko). I am always impressed by your ability to hear specific things in all that stuff that's going on. Keep doing it the way you do. 👍
I’ll add to the chorus about pausing, keep doing what you’ve been doing. You always have something insightful to add. I appreciate the way you’re able to take a complicated part of the song and explain it in a way that makes sense. Oh, Kai is a beast on the drums. I’ve watched some of his drum cams and he always kills it.

You're the best!
I'm pretty sure everyone appreciates all the pausing, especially the '30 second rewind' where you play the first 30 seconds and then start it again (lol), but you find things on your first listen that most people overlook after listening to songs countless times. You are definitely the best reaction channel to watch
Jukka was a great drummer, he was the drummer for the band when this was released... but Kai is something special.
Jukka knew what he was doing when he recommended him. 👍
@@ChrisPage68 agreed 🙂
I miss Jukka (he was a beast on drums), but love Kai as well.
The most impressive thing about this song is the fact that when Tuomas came up with it, he was barely above TWENTY YEARS OLD. Like WHAT
Floor is doing crazy things with her voice. incredible.
That "wind down" at the end wasn't Tuomas but Troy on an electric guitar (one of the 3000 instruments he plays).
Yeah, Marco is so cool. He's just one step behind on the scale of epicness behind Tuomas and Floor because he yet to have a species named after him. Tanidromites Nightwishorum!
It's impossible not to love Marco.
@@black4pienus He's well-loved. I think he's been called something in Finland...The Voice of Finland? I can't remember.
Nova Ezz That sounds like his FB fanpage name 🤔
Nova Ezz Yes the title Marco Hietala ”The Voice of Finland” is quite new one and is linked to a Facebook group with same title established in April 2018. Earlier he was preferred to ”The Golden Throat of Metal” and that is more known in Finland.
@@mantailuaa That's so cool 😃
I absolutely, 100%, love, love, LOVE your reactions to Nightwish. You actually make me laugh at your facial reactions. I am BLOWN AWAY at how much detail you pick out and are able to articulate instead of (for example) my saying, "That was AWESOME", but never able to say specifically why. Thank you so much!!!
greetings from Germany and please don't stop pausing. with Pause you do, you have really interesting things to say, especially as there are many reactions with nightwish right now and yours stands out.
Totally agree. Big love from Spain
@@black4pienus Thank you, you absolutely made my day with that reply! Too bad I live far away in Sweden otherwise I'd take you up on that! :-)
@@Jacqueline.1964 Ik wil ook... Maar is een onzekere tijd als het op concerten aankomt. We zien het wel.
Hhnnnngh, we just gonna have to wait The Greatest Show on Earth 😂
This song is actually from their "Oceanborn" album, which was released 22 years ago.
Slaying the dreamer from the same concert!
Pause all you want, your analysis of the songs is what I come here for!
I watched many many Nightwish reactions, but you are my absolutely favourite! You are smart, sympathic and passionated. By the way: I love your accent! ♡ Can‘t wait for Greatest Show on Earth ♡
Imagine, this song is 22 years old already. From oceanborn album wayyyy before Floor and even Marco entered Nightwish.
I thought Oceanborn was the first album with Marco? Or was it Century Child?
22 years sheeeeeeeesjs I'm getting old xD
@@pumpjackmcgee4267 Century Child; Sami Vänskä was on bass for Oceanborn and Wishmaster
i absolutely love this song, and have seen the live video so many times, AS WELL as having seen the whole concert numerous times, and im just now realizing that troy was using the ebow (i think) to do the bit of wavy leadwork in the last section and ive always heard it but never realized troy was on stage playing. im now having an existential crisis.
I prefer the Wembley version more, but it’s a close call
but the fireworks >>>> and the vocals mixing is better in Tampere (in my opinion, of course)
I can't choose! Wembley with Dawkins or Tampere with fireworks? I love them both!
Both are great, One that gets overlooked is the Buenos Aires version. Troy using the ebow at the beginning is quite haunting.
@@purpleir Wembley with fireworks would be rather dangerous. 😱
Thank you.
Well said.
Amen
I've listened to this song a hundred times yet your analysis made me hear and notice stuff I've never noticed before. Absolutely amazing.
Thank you for that. Glad you find these helpful.
From beginning of the frantic part there's 9 counts until Floor hits the high note and 9 counts in between. That's probably how her timing is so accurate.
Your pauses are not a problem....they are purposeful and informative and very welcomed!
Dude's earballs are razor sharp
Aren't they just !!
My Queen Goddess Floorever!
Yes they are all special but you're right, she is very special, a force of nature. They all compliment each other and the band. Wonderful! And we all get to enjoy their masterpiece performances
I regret that I have only one like to give. So I'll give you a comment too :)
Also, it's gonna be a helluva ride whenever you get around to listening to the new album. I suggest listening to it in the order listed on the album, instead of taking it out of context and skipping around. I do hope that you'll also review/react to the instrumental half as well.
I second this comment!!! The WHOLE album!!!!
Third!!
She held the note for an effortless 10.18 seconds.
If I didn't want you to pause, I could always watch the original video. Keep on keeping on. I love when you take me to music theory class
Don't worry at all about the pausing. That's why we're here.
Glad you could appreciate this song. It seems to me so many reactors can't get past the surface sound and don't seem to be able to follow it. They miss the whole experience. Thank you for this reaction 😀👍
There is always pretty much the entire new album Human Nature to listen through...
A feast for his ears lol
And over 20 years of music...yeah
Not to mention the "All the works of nature that adorn the world" part...😮
Can't wait to see it played LIVE.
You will find oceans all through Tuomas's work. Remember, he IS the Devonian Sea.
They deafen me with endless love. And they sparkle my scenery. They are a dark chest of wonders.
How big are her lungs? 🤣
She continues to amaze.
She can sing underwater. 😁
@@ChrisPage68 Actually, Floor once said she had the lungs of a deep-sea diver.
@@alanfoster6589 Yep, thats exactly her own words :)
My Walden from the same concert, Wembley is great!
I literally screamed of excitement when I saw you had uploaded.
Please react to Stargazers live from Tampere.
"How big are her lungs?'..... Yes.... Amazed and confused but enjoying it..... Shows Kai's skills. If I didn't know he is/was a drum teacher before, I would now!... It's not like Jukka's style but it works too!... Thanks for the entertainment and the information, as always! :D
The pauses and your reaction are the entire point of watching your videos.
Let's not forget to wish you a damn good day too Chase, you've earned it with this one :)
You: How big are her lungs? How long was that note?
Floor: Yes.
😹😹😹
'That' note was around 10 seconds long by the way.
Well more like yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssss....~~~~
If I'm not mistaken, she was recovering from a cold here wasnt she? Anybody else hear about this too? For her to sound this good while not at %100 shows how good she is.
Awesome song, and awesome reaction as usual. They are all immensely talented and Marco and Floor are magic together!
I really do not mind your pausing!
I find it awesome to learn from you, which I really do.
It’s a pleasure to watch them surprise you and see the look of joy you get now and then when discovering each song :)
Awesome video, as always. Thanks for checking this out, love hearing your analyses of... Well... Everything!!!
Crazy thing is she was sick at the time of this concert.
Well, that note was 10,2 seconds long, according my stopwatch :D
Floor say's "I have a Deep ocean divers lungs"hehe. stay safe.
Nice haircut man!
Beautiful reaction as always Chase!🌷 Can't wait for the next one!
Floor's FINALLY broken our boy Chase! 😂
Thank you for your reactions! It's nice to know I am not alone in musician - music geek-dom. :D It is refreshing to find a like tribe. You say things that I think and keep to myself, except with other musicians. Until the next time. Play on, enjoy!
Lol, this was one of my fastest clicks to date. Just randomly refreshed the page and boom there it is, insta click. Amazing content man. Keep it up, there's so many more songs for you to get through, but there is time, react to other stuff, clear your mind, and do your shit.
I would LOVE to see your reaction to 10th Man Down, same concert!
If you look to do more Tarja, I'd recommend either Planet Hell or Sleeping Sun from End of an Era
I don't know much If there is much live stuff with Anette but I really liked Slow Love Slow from Imaginaerum
Another great Nightwish song in general is FantasMic, although I don't think that there's a proper live version of that
For more Marco, I'd go with While Your Lips Are Stil Red or Tides from his and his brothers band Tarot
never apologize for going back in a Nightwish song. we will listen to it with you over and over again. 😁 great pick for a reaction. one of my favorite songs (as every song that involves both Floor and Marko). I am always impressed by your ability to hear specific things in all that stuff that's going on. Keep doing it the way you do. 👍
Just discovered that they were invited at the Montreaux Jazz Festival (2012) and also NW have a jazz melody: Slow, Love, Slow...how cool!
👏 Hello from Romania! Thank you for another amazing reaction. I really enjoy every pause and every little thing you help me notice.
Really glad you enjoyed it 🇷🇴
I’ll add to the chorus about pausing, keep doing what you’ve been doing. You always have something insightful to add. I appreciate the way you’re able to take a complicated part of the song and explain it in a way that makes sense.
Oh, Kai is a beast on the drums. I’ve watched some of his drum cams and he always kills it.
More Floor please! Dead Boy’s Poem from this Buenos Aires concert , please!
NW never stops impressing me. I love this band. plus a great informative reaction. nice haircut too. greetings from germany.
oh man that thing you pointed out near the end with the snare drum accents...i SWEAR they're also doing some funky stuff with the time signature but when he switches the accent to the off beat it breaks my brain and i can't count 😂
