This cut deep. While I enjoyed the drama, and appreciate the love story of Bai Qian and Ye Hua, my heart still aches for Mo Yuan. He just never had the chance. Couldn't act on his feelings as a mentor, and after taking over 70,000 years to piece his soul back together to return especially for Bai Qian, he learns she is not only not available but sees him as a fatherly figure only. Another character my heart aches for is Li Jing, yes he messed up, but there is no denying that he was utterly in love with Si Yin/Bai Qian. Like Mo Yuan, he was able to see through her disguise as a male, and he fell for her hard. So hard that he spent the next 70,000 years not forgetting her and searching for her. He was Bai Qian's first love. However, as Bai Qian stated, she has a strong love and strong hate relationship. Once you betray her that is it. No more chances. So I felt for Li Jing even though it was his actions that caused him to lose out on the love of the woman he was besotted with, it was clear he was devastated by the break up, yet he still showed himself to be honorable in the end willing to sacrifice his own life to face off with his father so to ensure Bai Qian's happiness. His hope being that he could spare Bai Qian from possibly having to sacrifice her spirit to seal the Donguan (forgot the spelling) Bell, or her having to lose her master Mo Yuan all over again to sealing the Bell. While he couldn't have her, he was still willing to protect her if he could. This drama was riddled with many tragic subplots dealing with unrealized/unfulfilled love. It's what makes this drama sad in many ways.

Li Jing’s fault was being jealous of Mo Yuan and that caused the mistakes he’s made. He even advised Ye Hua not to save Mo Yuan, but he didn’t see how selfless Ye Hua is towards Bai Qian. On that account alone, Ye Hua is way better than Li Jing. Li Jing eventually did decide to sacrifice himself to potentially save Bai Qian (and maybe Mo Yuan), but just like he said himself: he understood too late. This is too late for him. Mo Yuan, on the other hand, was truly a worthy competitor to Ye Hua. If it wasn’t for Ye Hua, Bai Qian would’ve ended up with Mo Yuan. She’s slow to understand her own feelings. If Zhe Yan would at any point point it out to her that she’s confusing her love and admiration for her master to respect, she could very likely discover she’s in love with her master this whole time. But the timing is all wrong for Mo Yuan. My heart still aches for Mo Yuan.
I think all along, she was in love with Mo Yuan. When Ye Hua asked her if there was no place in her heart except for that one, she never denied it, and that she would even die for him. She said Mo Yuan was her master, but she never said she loved him like a father until AFTER she fell in love with Ye Hua. When Mo Yuan asked her if he didn't "die", if she would have stayed in Kunlan Shan, she said she would have; but that was "before Ye Hua". You can even feel, by her answers to Mo Yuan's loaded questions, that she was subtly telling him that she (now) loved him like her master/father. Like to Li Jing (who I also feel really bad for), she just wasn't in the same place anymore.

There's being loyal and paying a debt t o your teacher, but who repays debt like this? All his other students wanted to preserve his body and pay him respect, only she stubbornly stole his body, took him back to her fox den and feed him blood to keep his body alive. I think if one day BQ ever truly stop and think about her feelings for MY, she will realize she loves him very deeply and probably still do. I can see her doing the exact same thing if MY ever get himself killed again.
Wish there were men out there that were like ye hua. You can feel the love he has for her as well as see it. Mark Chao is a wonderful actor. And so is she. They are a perfect match to play these charters.
Ye Hua is ok, but I can't forgive him for cutting out Bai Qian's eyes. Mo Yuan on the other hand, give me a man like that any day! All he's ever done is to protect his little 17, and he never once let others bully her. Ye Hua is young and hadn't develop a spine, but Mo Yuan is like Dong Hua, protects his own and refuse to reason. Love these old immortals.

I read many comments on this drama and lots of people are deeply saddened that Mo Yuan is not destined to be Bai Qian (Seventeen). I truly regret their love story didn't blossom anymore but a love-respect relationship. Ye Hua's love for Bai Qian cut deeper than Mo Yuan. Here are why: 1) when Ye Hua was a golden lotus, it was Bai Qian who cared for him. In spirit, he fell in love with her at that very moment. It is fate as they met again when Bai Qian was a mortal and saved Ye Hua from the Golden Lion. Fate bought them together as they got married and had a son. 2). Although Bai Qian forgets Ye Hua and her painful past with Ye Hua after drinking the "amnesia" portion, she chooses to love him again. In the past 300 years, Ye Hua never lets go of Bai Qian, he lives in sorrow and pain as though he has died with her. 3). When Ye Hua sacrifices his life to Heaven and Earth, Bai Qian lives her life carelessly, she drowns herself in sorrow by drinking in hopes to see Ye Hua in her dream. It is better to die than to live a life of emptiness without your loved one. The feeling is unbearable. Through 3 lives, both Ye Hua and Bai Qian went through great losses, yet still attested to their true love for each other. That is FATE as they are destined to be with each other.
The author of this novel (this drama is based on a novel of the same title) later wrote another novel with Mo Yuan as the protagonist, and she gave him a girlfriend. :DD But she didn't finish the novel... Ye Hua uses actions to show Bai Qian his love, while Mo Yuan only keeps his love deep in his heart. He never explicitly expressed his love. Actually Mo Yuan's love is even subtler in the novel. In the drama, Zhe Yan asked Mo Yuan whether he treats Bai Qian as his sweetheart or his student/apprentice. Zhe Yan has never said this in the novel. It is completely left to us readers to decide what kind of feelings Mo Yuan has toward Bai Qian
It cut deeper, because YH got 50 plus episodes whereas MY only got 5. It was biased from the start, and that is because the drama was aimed at a young audience, which is why it became such a big hit. Kudos to Mark Chao though.... brilliant actor

I just cannot believe Bai Qian doesn’t feel anything for MoYuan romantically. 70,000 years taking care of his body just based on his final words”wait for me”. MoYuan liked her ever since they met. When MoYuan askes her if she knows why he took her in even though he already knew she’s a girl, It confirmed immediately that he felt for her from the very beginning. I think MoYuan’s love runs very deep, but too bad, things happen and timing is all wrong for him. I know the story is always about YeHua and BaiQian, but I still feel sad for MoYuan big time.

But to be honest, Bai Qian fell for the men that were assertive and persistent. The first guy chased her and so did Ye Hua from ep 30 and on. She fell for the men that were assertive. If Mo Yuan had even did a fraction of anything the men did, they'd have no chance against Mo Yuan since to Bai Qian he was everything. So the point is, in the end, Mo Yuan would' have done anything to jeopardize the relationship already existed, so don't feel bad they didn't become destined for each other. It was not fated to be.
Not sure that it was because she was female but she was definitely unique. The fan had already chosen her. He notes this as one reason that she needed to be his disciple.
Yes, he was too shy, but it was too complicated. Even if he had made his love for her clear before he sacrificed himself, she would have met YeHua as a mortal, and that would be a real mess. For example, she would still be engaged to his brother, and have the kid with his brother, and his brother would still be madly in love with her. Also, because of his position, he may have only been allowed to treat her as a disciple, even if she was in love with him. Mo Yuan, on the other hand, was truly a worthy competitor to Ye Hua. If it wasn’t for Ye Hua, Bai Qian would’ve ended up with Mo Yuan. She’s slow to understand her own feelings. If Zhe Yan would at any point point it out to her that she’s confusing her love and admiration for her master to respect, she could very likely discover she’s in love with her master this whole time. But the timing is all wrong for Mo Yuan.
My heart still aches for Mo Yuan.
I think all along, she was in love with Mo Yuan. When Ye Hua asked her if there was no place in her heart except for that one, she never denied it, and that she would even die for him. She said Mo Yuan was her master, but she never said she loved him like a father until AFTER she fell in love with Ye Hua. When Mo Yuan asked her if he didn't "die", if she would have stayed in Kunlan Shan, she said she would have; but that was "before Ye Hua". You can even feel, by her answers to Mo Yuan's loaded questions, that she was subtly telling him that she (now) loved him like her master/father. Like to Li Jing (who I also feel really bad for), she just wasn't in the same place anymore.

There's being loyal and paying a debt t o your teacher, but who repays debt like this? All his other students wanted to preserve his body and pay him respect, only she stubbornly stole his body, took him back to her fox den and feed him blood to keep his body alive. I think if one day BQ ever truly stop and think about her feelings for MY, she will realize she loves him very deeply and probably still do. I can see her doing the exact same thing if MY ever get himself killed again.

We WANTED him to do nothing when SuSu tried to find peace in death. Who told him to jump after her? Isn't it like, 'You will remain mine even in death'?

I read many comments on this drama and lots of people are deeply saddened that Mo Yuan is not destined to be Bai Qian (Seventeen). I truly regret their love story didn't blossom anymore but a love-respect relationship. Ye Hua's love for Bai Qian cut deeper than Mo Yuan. Here are why: 1) when Ye Hua was a golden lotus, it was Bai Qian who cared for him. In spirit, he fell in love with her at that very moment. It is fate as they met again when Bai Qian was a mortal and saved Ye Hua from the Golden Lion. Fate bought them together as they got married and had a son. 2). Although Bai Qian forgets Ye Hua and her painful past with Ye Hua after drinking the "amnesia" portion, she chooses to love him again. In the past 300 years, Ye Hua never lets go of Bai Qian, he lives in sorrow and pain as though he has died with her. 3). When Ye Hua sacrifices his life to Heaven and Earth, Bai Qian lives her life carelessly, she drowns herself in sorrow by drinking in hopes to see Ye Hua in her dream. It is better to die than to live a life of emptiness without your loved one. The feeling is unbearable. Through 3 lives, both Ye Hua and Bai Qian went through great losses, yet still attested to their true love for each other. That is FATE as they are destined to be with each other.
The author of this novel (this drama is based on a novel of the same title) later wrote another novel with Mo Yuan as the protagonist, and she gave him a girlfriend. :DD But she didn't finish the novel...
Ye Hua uses actions to show Bai Qian his love, while Mo Yuan only keeps his love deep in his heart. He never explicitly expressed his love. Actually Mo Yuan's love is even subtler in the novel. In the drama, Zhe Yan asked Mo Yuan whether he treats Bai Qian as his sweetheart or his student/apprentice. Zhe Yan has never said this in the novel. It is completely left to us readers to decide what kind of feelings Mo Yuan has toward Bai Qian

I just cannot believe Bai Qian doesn’t feel anything for MoYuan romantically. 70,000 years taking care of his body just based on his final words”wait for me”. MoYuan liked her ever since they met. When MoYuan askes her if she knows why he took her in even though he already knew she’s a girl, It confirmed immediately that he felt for her from the very beginning. I think MoYuan’s love runs very deep, but too bad, things happen and timing is all wrong for him. I know the story is always about YeHua and BaiQian, but I still feel sad for MoYuan big time.
