,footage that only brings a tear to my eye. I first stepped on the beloved Keys in 1959 and finally packed out in the 70's when I couldn't fight the crowds any longer. I lived in Key Largo and fished commercially on beautiful coral reefs that today look like bleached out rock piles. The Christ statue was new and I spent many great hours diving there, French Reef, and Molasses light and Pickles reef. When it started taking over an hour to drive from my house to Islamorada on weekends, I knew it was time to move on. I ended up in the high country of Colorado and still try to get back to Largo every once in a while to see old friends. The jet skis must drive you crazy and that ridiculous gathering on Islamorada sandbar is a joke !!!!
hey guys i saw a few people asking if u need a boat. there are no reefs accessible by swimming from a shoreline. you either need to have your own boat or go on a tour.
Nice footage! I agree that Key Largo was "more fun", but still... The fish species at Key West was totaly different, a different habitat as it were. And the langust was a bonus, no? It's a bummer to see this nice vid, in a way, I've been to Florida Keys twice, birdwatching, and now see what I missed under water. I've made some lame tries to photograph species throuh the Surface, but that's not really the way to photograph fish :-) It only helps to ID them, later. What camera did you use?
You didn’t even go snorkeling on the reef in Key West you just went in the harbor where there is a lot of pollution no crap all the coral is dead in Key West because you didn’t even go to the real reef 😂
