I think this was the press promotional day, I've seen some shots of the cast on the towpath which seem to be taken at this time. What I loved about the early days of The Big Breakfast was how real the house was. It really lost that vibe, towards the end. Too many fake elements later on, and was adapted in a way that made it feel like a studio pretending to be a house. One piece of footage, presumably recorded on this day, which I've been on the lookout for for years is a little promo which featured on TV Weekly, of Gaby outside the house whilst some of the scaffold was still up. Unlikely it will ever turn up, chances are that doesn't exist now. But it's just something I remember and would love to see again. Also, unrelated to this particular footage, but an edition of Right 2 Reply from 1996 where a viewer challenges the producers about the decline of the show and they tell of their intention to revamp it within a matter of weeks.
My dream is that somebody digs out the big breakfast footage of the psychic that predicted Kevin Keegan's England manager career during the Euro 2000s. I don't even believe in mediumship particularly, but it went like this: England will beat Germany 1-0 but will crash out of the tournament the next game. England will then draw Germany at Wembley in October and get beat 1-0 and Keegan will resign after the game. When October came I told everyone I knew that this was going to happen, and it unfolded before our eyes. I'd pay anything to see that again.
