The Tarpon weighed about 80lbs and the fight time was 29 minutes. When filming the ending to the video another Big Tarpon hit and we got some slow motion footage of my wife trying to pull the rod out of the pvc pipe before the Tarpon got off!!
I use very heavy 200lb to 300lb sinker clips on my Shark rigs so the Sharks head shaking doesn't straighten out the clip. The Tarpons head shakes were so violent that it actually snapped the loop on the 6oz sinker!
Thanks! Starting our summer time trips at 12:30 because of the parks new hours is flat out brutal! And with the summer time thunder showers we will be making some morning trips to Ormond Beach
Since I don’t let my reels get splashed and definitely not dunked!! I basically just thoroughly rinse the line roller but if the reel gets the saltwater film from the mist or wind I will lightly rinse the reel. Probably 75% of the time all I do is rinse the line roller, The BG reels have a very good Finish! Thanks for Watching!!
Glad you like the videos 😀 my wife wore a gopro on a chest mount when she caught her 100lb Blacktip Shark which is on the channel. the shark took over 125yds of line and with her chest mount and the loud drag clicker on our Fin-nor 5500 it was some pretty good footage!!
She did catch a 40 inch Redfish 2 years ago when fishing for the bluefish. She also caught a black drum that weighed about 5-6 lbs last year with her little bait rod
Thank you for your concern but after sitting down for a few minutes I felt much better. We were very happy to catch the Big Tarpon and thank you for watching our video.
What size line and leader setup do you use? I also wanted to ask, if you would recommend doing that type of fishing weekly with the bg or to choose another reel? Trying to get in to tarpon and shark fishing
I did make a video on how I make my shark leaders. Which use 3-5ft 480lb cable with 7ft+ of twisted mono, mostly 60lb and I also use some lighter shark setups during bluefish season with 80-100lb single strand mono with a FG knot. We have 7 shark reels and I did make a video about how they are set up and how we use them. The BG 8000 on sale for around $100 would be my #1 choice for surf shark fishing and I have 2 of them. While the 60lb Seaguar hollow core braid on the BG 8000 in this video is very good line. The line twist easily on spinning reels, Our 2nd BG 8000 has 65lb sufix 832 braid. Which is very good line that I would recommend. Just do not let the BG 8000 get splashed or Dunked and it is a very good reel!! If you have any questions you can ask me, My answers can get long sometimes!! Thanks for Watching!!
Korean Fishing Wife I saw one of your videos today that had the finor and the BG 8000. Not sure I spelled that right anyway I would like to C how you make the leaders especially the twisted mono and how you connect it. Would you mind sending me a link to that video? I’m new at Setting up for this, fishing. I’ve just been used to regular surf fishing so some of the knots. I’m not quite familiar with but I do want to learn!! Thank you so much I’m moving to The North Carolina coast in a couple of weeks. I caught a hammerhead a couple years back on 20 pound test he was about 3 1/2 foot ever since then I wanted to do more big fishing
On our Channel we have a (SHARK FISHING TIPS) Playlist with 7 videos in it that you can checkout. IMO the best shark rigs to start with is the Texas Tackle 6ft shark rigs, Try to get the circle hook ones!! (Google search it) Also Academy Sports sells the Tsunami 6ft shark rigs both rigs are around $7 just make sure you get the Tsunami one that has the sliding sinker clip. You can tie straight to the swivel and the 6ft leaders will catch all 4ft sharks and most of your 4-5ft sharks and would give you at least a chance to catch some blacktips around 6ft? What bigger surf rods and reels are you using right now?
Korean Fishing Wife I’m using a 15ft heavy duty ugly stick and a 7 ft heavy ugly stick for pier or boat use and just ordered a second bg 8000. I have 65 lb braid with mono backing probably around 400 yards total
I filmed a solo tarpon at the NSB Jetty about two weeks ago on my drone. It's on my channel here. He was pretty far out. How far were you casting to get this?
She was sitting down most of the time the first 15 minuets. But her Adrenaline kicked in when she took the rod to land the fish and she definitely saved the video 😀 Thanks for Watching!!
The line was 60lb Seaguar Threadlock Hollow core braid and the leader was a 7'5" 60lb twisted mono GT leader + 3'10" of 480lb cable. Thanks for Watching!!
We have hooked them before but usually they take a lot of line and then the hook pulls. This fish was hooked so good it would have never got off. It snapped the brass loop on the 6oz with his head shakes when he was jumping!!
Thanks! She had one on the same rod 2 years ago with our Quantum Cabo 80 that was Much Bigger and pulled 175yds of line in just a few seconds before the hook pulled!!

Hey, two great fisherman and woman . That was a great and honorable release for a great fighting fish who deserves to be free. Coo Doos
Thank you for the nice comment and Thanks for Watching our Video!!
How many people you need? Youre fishing from the surf , just reel in…. Haha and two is better than one! Nice catch!
Thanks! We are used to pulling in the Sharks by the Tail and you can’t do that with a Tarpon LOL! Thanks for Watching!!

Nice catch and a fast release 🔥
Thanks! Only 45 seconds out of the water😀 Definitely got to get the Tarpon back in the water because they are Fragile! Thanks for Watching!!
The giant pyramid sinker must be banging the crap out of the tarpons head and eyes.
I use very heavy 200lb to 300lb sinker clips on my Shark rigs so the Sharks head shaking doesn't straighten out the clip. The Tarpons head shakes were so violent that it actually snapped the loop on the 6oz sinker!
Congrats thanks for the video due to the heat I try night fishing
Thanks! Starting our summer time trips at 12:30 because of the parks new hours is flat out brutal! And with the summer time thunder showers we will be making some morning trips to Ormond Beach
Sick!! That had to be such a great fight
Definitely one of best!!
Korean Fishing Wife I’m fishing Daytona tomorrow hopefully I catch a monster!
Good luck! We did catch a FAT 67 inch Blacktip yesterday at Ormond Beach😀
Korean Fishing Wife your ratio for catching sharks seems pretty good. Do you always hook up when you go fish or just every know and then?
This year the sharks seem to be out there!! If you can hook up with a big blacktip every other trip you are doing good!!
Good job 👍
Thanks!😀
Could you show us how you clean the reel or your maintenance technics
Since I don’t let my reels get splashed and definitely not dunked!! Is a beautiful beach
Definitely was a good day to be at the beach, Thanks for Watching!!
@@koreanfishingwife8766I have daiwa bg also.that is a good reel
The BG 8000 had no problem with the Big Tarpon, We have also caught some Big Blacktip sharks with both BG 5000 and BG 8000
I enjoy watching your videos. Would be nice if you also use a body camera 👌🏼
How many yards of line did the tarpon pull off of that 8k?
The Tarpon took about 175 yards of line and Thanks for Watching!!
does the reel cast long distance looking forward to buy one for the surf ill be targeting bull reds ?
With the very good line lay and the Huge spool the the Daiwa BG 8000 is a very good casting reel, Thanks for Watching!!
What size wire and crimp do you use for blacktips sharks?
AFW 49 strand 7x7 480lb stainless steel cable and the Crimps are the AFW double barrel #10F8, Thanks for Watching!!
Have you ever had any big black or red drums at nsb?
She did catch a 40 inch Redfish 2 years ago when fishing for the bluefish. She also caught a black drum that weighed about 5-6 lbs last year with her little bait rod
Was this up by the canaveral seashore?
Yes it was on the NSB side of the park and Thanks for Watching!!

The Tarpon was only 35 yds out. Definitely going to be looking for your videos!! Being local and getting to look at the footage is really cool😀
Heat stroke!? Go into d water stay for abt 3~5min then come out n drink a bottle or a can of 100plus. 🤔 ......
She was sitting down most of the time the first 15 minuets. But her Adrenaline kicked in when she took the rod to land the fish and she definitely saved the video 😀 Thanks for Watching!!
Can u catch one of those on the BG 5000?
I would not want to hook a fish like that with the BG 5000, But you could get lucky! Thanks for Watching!!
Braid and leader how many
The line was 60lb Seaguar Threadlock Hollow core braid and the leader was a 7'5" 60lb twisted mono GT leader + 3'10" of 480lb cable. Thanks for Watching!!
That’s a biggen
Definitely a Trophy Tarpon for the Surf!
Korean Fishing Wife That’s a trophy Tarpon anywhere 😂
