  • In this video, I take you along as I pressure can our extra roosters and an old hen to make some very tender ready to eat meat. Like many other people, we tried cooking up our free-range old hens and roosters, and they always turned out pretty tough and chewy and not as good. You really need to know how to cook them properly to get it right. And I've never been able to do it. So this time, instead of taking up the little bit of freezer space we had left, I opted into making some shelf stable, ready to eat meals out of all my harvested chickens. And I got some awesome, very healthy and nutritious bone broth and chicken stock in the process! It is just another great way to use all the resources on your homestead and not let anything go to waste while stocking up your pantry with some easy, ready to eat meals. I hope you find this video helpful and that you try canning your own chicken meat as well.
As always, thank you for stopping by and supporting my little channel, and I hope to see you on the next video!

First time I have ever seen the bone pressure cooked in with the meat. ❤❤❤✌✌✌💥💥💥💥💥 Does the bone get soft enough to eat with the meat?

No they don't get quite soft enough to eat so I just pick them all out. The smaller bones are soft and brittle but still i wouldnt keep them in my meals ☺️ But I love having bones in there because the broth that it makes is very nutritious with the bones in it. It makes it jelly like with alot of collagen. I have been thinking of trying to save the bones and making bone meal out of them for my garden. Maybe a video for the future 😁

I am 67 now. When I was five we had chickens and I raised a chick that became a black chicken. I always played with her and made dresses and she was my pet. One day I remember I was eating chicken and I saw a small black feather on the dish and I had a terrible realization. I hide on a cabinet for a long time I was devastated my mother killed my pet. I will never forget that day. I remember that adults think that children are dumb or something and at tender age we don’t process thoughts like adults. Well I did and I remember how I felt. Don’t let your children play with animals and later feed them the pet that’s cruelty. My poor blacky she didn’t even had a lawyer to defend her
life. Children are small humans not stupid.

@mariapilarme oh wow, that would be terrible to experience for anyone! Our children all know that we butcher our chickens and we explain everything to them. They even help us with the butchering. They never have an issue with it. They do have favorites sometimes but even then they understand if it's not a bird we can keep. I grew up the same way and learned not to get too attached. With that said, they do have pets that they get to keep 😊

We raised Easter Betties and my Mother would butcher the chickens when they got full grown and we had to eat them or do without, So I didn't have a choice but to eat, And the chicken was always very good. I loved my Moms fried chicken. ❤❤❤✌✌✌
