Real Estate Billionaire Eli Broad has his fingerprints all over this brutal monstrosity. He had the idea to move the LAUSD offices from this location to a building he owned. Then he lobbied for the sculpture telling the board that students needed something to look up to. Broad was more interested in raising the Real Estate prices downtown for his profit.
I've done a lot of research on this location myself over the years..... The removal of bodies was less than perfect, leading to continual discovery of bodies whenever they do more digging & just like in "Poltergeist," where they also didn't remove all the bodies before building, it has lead to some ghost stories. LOTS of history on that hill!
You forget to mention that Ramon C. Cortines caused millions in settlement to several men that Ramon coerced into sexual relationships in order to safeguard their jobs. LAUSD covered this up by transferring those that complained about Ramon so the school district was just as guilty. This happened for more than 10 years from 2005 to 2016 pretty much the entire time Ramon was in charge of LAUSD.
I understand they think the extra expense for an inspirational timeless monument is worth it but dang, all that thing does is leave you scratching your head going "WTF?"
wow. ugly and expensive. wonder what the average aqi is right next to all that traffic. i'm all for way more money to education but hire a proper architect who doesn't just think in shapes
I love all the details and research you put into these episodes! You scratch a curiosity itch I have for LA
I think there might be a huell howser episode on the place , one of huells last shows.
Unfortunately I don't think anyone is airing his show anymore 😕
@@FrazierMtnCheeseChapman University hosts the archive. You can view any show you like.
His old studio is not a Sciontoligy building. For the Angelenos that loved Huell take on California's Gold we will always remember 💗
@@elizabethsol504 I think he's talking about the old KCET studio (right where Tiki-Ti is!) that is in fact now owned by Scientology.
Thank you! I have always wondered, as I have passed it countless times. Great reporting as usual.
You should see the wire frame airplane at the Green line stop in El Segundo..
You can’t blame them for being over budget- they’re not math students

Stark Tower
It looks like a watchtower for a prison
I've passed by this many times and really never gave it much thought, well now I know it's a school, thanks.
Thanks!

Yoooooooo! I have always thought the same thing too!!! Also I love @lataco
They wouldn't let you in the structure? Do they know who you are?
Helter sketer, helter skeltor...
Wouldn't that be the Hollywood Freeway?
I thought it was the new avengers building but low budget edition.
Waist of millions of dollars
What a waste of money 😂
Very Liberal & Progressive = very expense.
and useless... an inaccessible staircase to nowhere
I live in LA and drive the 101 almost daily. This is an eyesore and just plain ugly.
Remember they said that about the Eiffel Tower. With time it will become iconic
I serves one purpose: to remind drivers on the 101 of all the taxpayer money wasted!
Maybe move your face out of the shots so we can see the building.

U sure its not a democrat project? Or a govt backdoor deal?
Yeah it seems like a Trump building that he takes all the money for then doesn't pay the construction and then flies for bankruptcy.
@@laartwork it seems like a obamna hilary building where they eat children and launder money
