I can definitely relate. I had a concussion following a fall off of a 20 foot ladder. I fractured my right clavicle, left radius and ulna, ribs, L5-S1 transverse process, lacerated kidney and liver, and punctured lung. Because of the concussion I don't even remember the fall. and anything that happened shortly afterwards. All I remember is waking up in the ambulance wondering why I was laying down when I was just at work.. Then I passed out again and don't remember anything until after my surgery was over. People tell me that I was conscious the whole time. Concussions are serious business.
D2K Prime If you think not being able to remember an hour or two is serious business then you should try drinking until you black out. It would scare the shit out of you, lol. Fuckin pussy.
My mentor got one and in the 80s in college and his friends tried to take him to his place and he kept denying that he lived there even though he did. They asked him for a phone no. They said he gave them his ex-girlfriend's phone number from high school like freshman year, crazy stuff
Reynaldo Venturina Jr: Favre CAN still play, and he is a tough cookie. But he would not dare play again. In 2012 Jeff Fisher offered 42 year old Favre a starting QB position with the Rams. Favre turned it down because of too many concussions. Today Favre works out with high school and college athletes. At age 50 Favre throws so hard that he often breaks receivers' hands, sometimes shatters them. Look at all the QBs that could not throw at the end of their careers (P. Manning, Marino).
To prove the memory loss Favre suffered from the final concussion he explains; he didn't even get the pass off, he was sacked and not pushed, but viciously thrown into the ground by Corey Wootton. Then didn't go straight into the locker room, he put on a jacket and sat on the bench.
He did mention he put a jacket on and sat on the bench. But yea I don't think he realized how long he'd been sitting there before going into the locker. Probably seemed like half a minute to him.
I watched my friend snowboarding get concussed after slipping off a rail (he was wearing a helmet) and my dude couldn’t even tell us where he was after.. was completely blank for almost an hour.. asking every 5 minutes “wait why are we sitting here?” Scary shit

I love football just never played I choice basketball instead. I guess the fear of being injured or having concussions is what led me not to play it someways I wish I did play but hearing stories like Brett I believe I made the right choice not to play.
I think Brett is not remembering the last play correctly. He was not just shoved, and fell. He was spun in the grasp of Corey Wootton and tackled /sacked hard to the ground. It was not a little push.
That game was the worst games I saw playing college field frozen. Vikings out of the playoffs and one of the legends hit solid ice... it was horrible feeling. I don't think I wanted to see football after that I did but it was bad. Favre is all-time sad to see him unconscious like that.
Man, I have been watching this same interview (cut up into 3 minute chunks) for weeks now...and the thing I always think is: For a guy I have seen take a million hits - old Brett still seems to be cognitively intact. I mean, he is twice as articulate as most, if not all (certainly the Fox) of the ex jocks doing analysis on TV! I think he may have "Homer Simpson" skull syndrome....like a second helmet for a skull.
I had two playing youth football, and travel hockey, that I DIDN'T know about for 3 weeks. I thought it was just migraines, turns out I had two undiagnosed concussions.
Joe Namath did a series of hyper baric oxegen therapy sessions for a few months and he says it helped his memory loss tremendously. Brett should try it and others who have has concussions.
Anyone else concerned that the last play he describes... and what actually happened, don't line up? He never threw the ball or was "pushed" he was wrapped up and went down for a sack.
@@Drewitall54 Totally not like the title says "his last concussion" or something If you're not gonna add something useful, don't comment on a two year old comment.

You're telling me Aaron Hernandez had it and he played for 5 years till he got charged with murder. But Brett doesn't have it? Are you kidding me!?! That's preposterous.
The physician who developed the term CTE stated that those who play football through a professional career may receive 70 thousand blows to the head. It's sad that the NFL intentionally tried to ruin his career. All he wanted to do was to increase awareness, help to decrease concussions along with helping the players who are at the greatest risk.
What’s humbling about this is, we know what happens to these MEN but our thirst for this incredible sport allows us to ignore the consequences…I am the chiefest offender of thinking this way!
Brett would have played more seasons if Leslie Frazier hadn't benched him the following game. That was it, I think he had enough B.S. when he knows more about football than the coaches. Still had the ability to play a few more years but 2010 was a just diseased season for the Vikings after the collateral damage from the NFC chapionship game.
Actually head coach Childress didn't have a choice in the matter... the new concussion protocols are different now compared to the 90s . Under the new provisions , any player with a suspected concussion ,( per Dr's evaluation) must sit out and not play until cleared by physician..

Favre did a bad job articulating, but his point is that all those times he got up seeing lights/stars, most of the time his head didn't take a whack. The problem with concussions is they can and do happen when you take shots to the chest or upper body. The G-forces of sudden changes in direction cause your brain to rattle around in your head and since your brain has absolutely no feeling or sensation, it has no idea when it's been injured. Getting knocked out is your body's defense against concussions, and it actually works well when you take shots to the head. But these minute-by-minute "dizzying blows" that put stars in your eyes that all football players deal with through out every game? They're all causing minute amounts of brain damage and no amount of head protection can stop that (and in fact, it makes it worse: a player padded to the gills is much more likely to full-tilt sprint into tackles than one without, and the danger today is that full-speed play enabled largely by excessive padding and helmet tech)
