I made several dozen of these as diaper wipes years ago. They've lasted all three of my kids, and have since been passed on to my best friend for her newest little one. Now I'm kind of wishing I'd have kept them for kitchen towels, but I can always make more :) thanks for the idea!
Years ago I bought a bunch of these in a smaller size (about 4"x6") for diaper wipes! You dip them in a bit of warm water with some baby wash and baby oil added and they make the nicest wipe, comfy on the baby's bottom. They were serged with a rainbow thread, really pretty.
Thank you! There's a wedding coming up and I've started a gift theme of kitchen items to make. I'm adding this one on the list! Thank you again for a wonderful useful project! Gotta love our Grannies!
You can use your straight stitch sewing machine to add an extra layer of stitching. Grandma had been doing them with just the serger for years and they have never unraveled:)
Question: I use paper towels to wipe excess grease/oil out of my skillets, does this leave any kin’s of greasy residue in your washer? Thank you for all of your videos!
Great question! We followed up with Grandma this morning as she said that when she washes these, she will make sure kitchen towels are in a separate wash load. Any towels with grease she will spray it with Dawn Power Wash and toss it in the washer. Hasn’t had any problems:)

Thanks, grandma. You taught this old grandma a new trick

Suppose you don't have a surger. sewing machine. Can you use a regular machine. Loved watching on how to make reusable paper towels.
Yes, you can use a regular sewing machine! Just do a few extra passes:)
Do you do anything to finish off the end of each chain because that is going to unravel at some point?

So cool!
Is this just one layer of fabric?
What kind of stitch on a regular machine? I do not have a serger… (yet😂).
No worries:) you can use a zig zag stitch or do a few passes of a straight stitch:)
