It's interesting how all of the old tracks of American open-wheel racing added back to the schedule this year have been dominated by the series veterans. Montoya, Castroneves, and Dixon at Phoenix; Power, Dixon, and Kanaan at Road America; and Dixon and Power at Watkins Glen. Obviously some of the names at the tracks had issues taking them out of winning contention such as Montoya and Castroneves at Phoenix but still something interesting to take note of.
Chris Cruz You're good but it was nice to see an American rookie win the 500 this year. Hopefully he stays in the series next season but we'll have to see.
Thanks for the upload. Great to watch it whenever here in Australia - shit to have to record it. Bernie/Liberty Media ought to take careful note of why Indycar is so good to fans.
I'm sure there's a very good business reason why this venue is not longer on the schedule, but whatever it is, it's a shame. The Glen, along with Road America, and maybe Mid Ohio, are the only IndyCar road courses that really give the drivers a chance to run these cars are they were meant to run.
Thanks for the UL! Would be nice to have live chat back on the T&S page for a more fan friendly experience during the race. Otherwise it's been an awesome season. Looking forward to Sonoma.
Not like it used to be, they had some really bad management for a while but they seem to be making better decisions now (like coming back here and to Road America).
Depends on what you call "big". For me it was big in the 70s to 2002, after that the effect of the CART-IRL-split came into effect big time, so today I think it isn't big anymore despite the CART-IRL-reunification, because NASCAR sadly took the opportunity to take over the role as the major motorsport series in the US. This IndyCar race at Watkins Glen was added short-term as a replacement for a race in Boston, that had to be cancelled and that isn't ideal for ticket sales.
Rear fenders are likely gone by 2018 except on ovals where they are a crucial safety device, while push to pass is a valuable strategic resource you only have 10 of all race and which does not guarantee a pass at all.
+Javakris DRS in F1 (I'm not sure on the rules in DTM) can only be used on specified portions of the track (usually the two longest straights), whereas PP (as indicated on the side LED panels flashing in green) in Indycar can be used at any point of the track. DRS can only be used by a trailing car within a 1 second margin, while PP can be used by any car at any time provided they still have one left, allowing its use defensively or not even in trying to perform or prevent a pass and just to improve you lap times. DRS reduces drag (that's literally what it stands for) at the cost of downforce which you don't need on the straight to begin with while PP increases power at the cost of fuel. DRS can be used anytime the criteria are met while PP can only be used 10 times diring the race, each time lasting for 20 seconds. Overall, DRS in F1 is something that gives an advantage to a trailing car in overtaking in some situations at no strategic cost while PP is a strategic resource much like tyres and fuel whose use is not necessarily an advantage unless used well strategically. Really the only similarity is that both make you go fadter when used.
I know the difference, but thanks for the in depth explanation none the less. My point was more so that I don't feel the principal behind the three is any different. :P
+Javakris Perhaps the principle is not very different, all attempt to increase entertainment by increasing overtaking, but I think Indycar's method does so the best by not just being a gimmick but also another element of strategy like tires and fuel are in a way that is fair and gives no advantage to anyone they hadn't earned.
So glad they are back at The Glen!! I love this track!
Best line of the race: “Yes of course I’m fine I’m Russian.”
Indy won't return to Watkins for 2018 which I find very sad, it is an awesome track and my favorite to drive in simulator games
pc2 and ams2's gren is extremely fun🤩
Paul Tracy's savage levels are off the charts
I wish they had this crew on the ABC races as well. Goodyear and CO are so dull.
Ya. Marco can drive for Uber😂😂

Veterans won by veterans :D
..except Indianapolis.
Chris Cruz Indianapolis never left the schedule.
+Shark24 Oh my bad. I didn't read the "added back" part.
Disregard.

Thumbs Up Indycar! Love the channel!

They need to keep the Glen on the schedule permanently
I totally forgot this was the race with the "Uber" comment by Tracy. Marco gets the last laugh in SRX. In equal equipment. On the same track.
Yeah and Paul Tracy just crashed into everybody every weekend.

Never have been a power fan but absolutely amazed at how he's been able to decrease that points deficit until getting wrecked.
can we get a real time video of that Rahal onboard from Texas please?
28:12 here we go. Aleshin, lucky boy. Watkins Glenn, Mid Ohio, Dixon seems to like these circuits.
Watkins Glen awesome race track, very fast. Scott Dixon on pole, 🏁 28 mins race start. Not to bad a race, Mr economy, great result.
Thanks for the UL! Would be nice to have live chat back on the T&S page for a more fan friendly experience during the race. Otherwise it's been an awesome season. Looking forward to Sonoma.
Thanks IndyCar!
Awesome track awesome race. Thanks. Formula 1 races comparing to this one is like joke :)
that comment at 1 hr 32. the only other ride andretti can get is at uber. ouch!!! lol
Alex Thorne
ikr, I heard it and I started dying laughing
That’s why I like Paul Tracy cause he calls it how he sees it

Melhor posição de chegada do Helinho em terceiro em watkins glen
Its crazy to think.of less camping and people there are at this race than the NASCAR race .
Charlie is not liked in the pits for sure now! Takes out TWO cars? One a championship contender? Good god dude.
i dont know alot about indycar so dont rip me but, how long can you use push to pass?
Infinity im just guessing since i havent watched in 4 months so i might be mistaken but i think 10 times per race for 20 seconds each time
agenthoini aight cool tnx
Infinity no problem
200 sec per race, each push lasts about 10 sec I think
“…one of the longest road tracks in America”
*laughs in Road America*
50:48
Kimball needs his eyesight checked out.
Is indycar a big thing in the usa? I mean the rangs are empty and even the parking slots are mostly free. Greetings from a fan from germany :)

+Hassan Goldstein Yup, because usually indycar is even more crowded than F1.

looking forward for the sonoma race. haven't seen it yet
Poor Rahal Always Get Taken Down By Others
Well, Indy cars now have fenders and enough air control to start your own wind farm. I suppose next will be canopies over the cockpits.
Well they almost do now withe aero screen.
@18:22 - @19:33 name of the song???
i bet roger knows the exact lineup for pit boxes every race! Great job avoiding the foyt car!
nice comment paul, marco did certainly not get the talent, maybe next generation?
Man those cars were ugly back then 😄
Paul Tracy is still a jerk lol I miss when we had a fist fight every week.
What?
He said Marco couldn't even drive for uber
+avoqado89 You make no sense about the fist fights.
He fought Bourdais at Denver & someone at San Jose.
Alex Tagliani. Just google paul tracy fight
1:32:33 is the moment we came for
Like that they are at The Glen. Like that they run the boot. Ain't that they have these butt ugly cars.
Rear fenders, push to pass??? Total American cheese.

Push to pass is different from DRS in in F1 and DTM or push to pass in Stock Car Brasil in what manner?
