It simply amazes me how many people will play this and never be intelligent enough to deduce that you can DUCK to avoid bullets 🤦🏻♂️

Or that Ducking and hitting jump lets you drop down.
@@STE41k I could actually forgive that one, as that's a dated mechanic and very few games use it, but if you're above a certain age threshold and you never once stop to think "Oh maybe I can duck/crouch to avoid bullets/projectiles", let's just say I don't think too highly of you.

It's frustrating to watch this.
1. learn to shoot in all directions, straight, down, up, diagonally on the right to left and upward levels. Jump to hit the top targets, lay down to hit the lower targets in the POV levels.
2. lay down. targets can't hit you when laying down, especially on the pov levels.
3. learn the power ups and how to get them, aka shooting the eagles, footballs, and red guys (pov levels).
4. learn that you can lay down and hit jump to drop down a level.
5. And probably most importantly, there's a place to stand or way to move to avoid pretty much every hit in this game, while also shooting the target.
very few games in the 80s made you feel like a bad ass like contra

I remember beating this game with my cousin, a bunch of times. I can still smoke the first 4 levels on my own. Good content 👍🏻

Contra Isn't too hard, is beatable in 3 or 5 ours the first time "without the 30 lives code"
This new generation of players really is a cristal generation. 😔
Depends on what type of player you are. one can be crappy at these type of games but godly at dark souls.
I have beaten Castlevania and Mario bros but somehow find this game a bit harder and I'm no stranger to nes games.
"Contra" is largely about reflexes, so you will have a handicap in those kinds of games if you have relatively slow reflexes.
It is a completely different type of challenge to play for example "Final Fantasy Tactics", which is completely about a chess-like type of thinking.
Yeah they don't seem to like a challenge.

Contra anniversary collection is available on Xbox on PlayStation on switch and on steam. If you're playing the NES Contra it's the same game on all of the platforms and it's the same game that was on the NES in 1987 or 1988 whenever it originally came out

Last time I played with my friend he died over 100 times. I had to be like ok stop taking lives I want to beat it.
The demo running is showing you how to play if you sit there abd and watch. You earn continues. Holding down and taking the machines out makes it easier. 👍
I used to play this when i was 7. Il never forget a friend comes over one day and was like dude, i got a 30 lives code. I was like yea right, youre lying. It worked! Wow. Blew my mind at 7. A CODE! omg games have codes! Addiction in progress lol. Oh and im way worse at this game today that at 7 years old. Its hard
I always say the game is a vibe. You are either feeling it or not.
Now I understand why modern games are so stupid and easy to complete, with point markers on maps...
My 13 yr old me finished this game without any cheat might be in agony seeing this😂

I have just completed this whole game in 19 minutes. With just 3 lives (no death actually)
I used to beat this game on one life or two when it came out. Nowadays i've tried it via emulation and I can't beat the first level. I've gotten so bad, lol.

They legit gave him a movement tutorial. Projectiles clearly move at different rates. It’s just acrobatics and gunning patterns.
Good video, but no. They should not have given you the code. I was 6 years old. Inside a month, I could lap the game without dying.
