Channel 9's 1988 promotion for the new year, based upon ABC's long running promotion in the US. Includes Brisbane newsreaders Bruce Page, Mike London, and Robin Parkin's hair.
Sorry about the (very bad) quality but these tapes have deteriorated somewhat.

I remember this promo very well. I had just moved to Melbourne from the sticks. And still here.
Those were my highschool years. This was a real upbeat time I recall. Started to change five years later.
Check out all the mullets. Funny to see they are making a comeback now.

Too true. I rarely watch commercial television these days.
Yeah, and I been saying lately how much variety of adds there was in those days, and more entertaining. You'd never see an ad more than twice in a day, and now they play the same bloody ads almost every commercial segment. It gets so annoying.
Wow, it would be so good to have a then and now where are they for most of the live tv show host entertainers.

Bondys bloody airship
In the late 1980s I worked near the Brisbane airport. Bondy's airship was giving pleasure flights, and the droning sound it made taking off and landing was horrendous. This went on all day for several weeks.
I tried to shoot that thing down with my model rocket that year.
