The game used to be an incredible community experience. After 9 years of playing, all my brother and I talk about is how much we miss building guilds, running keys while using SKYPE to play with guildies, and doing hours of old dungeons day in and day out. 2011-2015 was so much fun
but guilds haven't died. If you have an active guild you can have that exact experience again Just make a ppe contest or something and all hop in a voice call and play in the same realm together.
Deca shouldn't release dungeons that incentivize discord runs and that are actually completable in the realm without taking an hour. That's the problem. Not discords.
Forgot to say this but I strongly disagree with just about every other discussion/opinion video you've done as well. It's like you're against the idea of rotmg being more casual friendly. Which if it wants to maintain/grow a player base. It needs to appeal to the casual players.
@@sgtcyb3r207 im defintely for the game becoming more casual but it comes at the cost of things to do for more experienced players and they went a bit overboard
@@sebchoof It's unfortunate that with games like this it is often times hard to find a balance between appealing to newer players while still maintaining support from veterans. I do hope Deca takes the feedback they've received from the shatters update as well as other updates to help them find that middle ground that appeals to both new and old players. I do agree with you that something does need to be done and they have went a bit too far.
Deca should try and integrate a raiding menu into the game. Players can create teams for a specific dungeon, and add a description detailing gear and stat requirements and what they want to do (such as "I have keys to pop!" or "Lets realm clear for some lost halls!"). Players in the same team could also talk in a "raiding chat" (like the guild chat, but for raids) to coordinate locations and plans. It would allow players to find others trying to do their same dungeons without a discord, and can encourage greater variance in team sizes at the same time.
I still think this won’t work. Similar to destiny 2. Destiny 2 on discords is massive, just like rotmg but it’s a way bigger game. They added an in game ‘find raid team mates’ feature and not a single person used it
At the end of the day, its all about efficiency. Pushing towards smaller run sizes will do nothing but hurt the average player as elitist guilds/discords will isolate themselves from the general population. Discords provide a lower barrier to entry for higher difficulty dungeons. There is less time invested in finding these dungeons, less time invested in actually running a dungeon, and both of these aspects protect a player from wasting a significant amount of time in the case that they fail. You can replace time with money in this. If you are learning a dungeon and are popping keys to do so, you are quite literally wasting money if you fail. Without discords, the typical player would have a difficult time learning dungeons due to the amount of time - or money, that they would need to invest. Instead of whales popping for larger groups, they'd be invited to elitist guilds and pop exclusively for them. Exaltation dungeons would be pushed out of reach for the average player.
i dont know why but for some reason efficiency only became a big concern at that point in the video when i mentioned a guild popularized full skipping because the popularized full skip aswell. its almost as fi after that every discord became manic with speedrunning and efficieny, dont know why but everyone was a lot more casual before then
@@sebchoof that's true. I guess the competition of who can do it quicker + the added risk of fullskipping made it popular and thrilling to the general player. And as a result, players benefited by getting many more runs in, which ment more loot. Further expanding this concept onto other dungeons, losing its casualness of the game.
I think RotMG right now suffers a "WoW experience", which is trying to appeal to large audience and earn money, while featurecreeping the game due to its popularity and players demands. I'm not a pro player, but I've played this game in a very early stage (around build 100 or so). Compared to what RotMG it is now, it was a completely different experience. No one knew how to play properly, getting to lv20 was an achievement already and making 10k fame would put your name in the hall of legends. O1 was the endgame boss, there was no Nexus or Oryx castle, so to prepare for the encounter most players were always exp training by running solely by the road and killing midlands mobs. The premise of the game was "get to lv20 fast, try to kill Oryx and repeat if you die", which worked pretty damn well for players who didn't want to spend their whole lives grinding another MMMORPG. So, for the most players stat pots were more like a nice bonus than a necessity. Then 2 things happened: 1 - the game was popular enough to start making profit of it, 2 - the community started to learn the current content and asked for more. So, devs obviously got to give more new content to make players satisfied and get money for their jobs. This process still continues to this day and is fundamental to the game's survival. I'm bringing is up, because my point is: no player can play the game forever. To mitigate this, devs are trying to bring more players in by making the early parts of the game easier, while also trying to keep the old players, giving them new hard content and long-term goals like exaltations. And since private runs (which became discord runs at some point) are no secret, devs are actually making content for these people. However, this policy suffers some issues very similar to WoW raiding: in 2021 it's hard to keep casuals for long with all the more forgiving games on the market, while simultaneously make endgame content for older players, who have aged so well, that most current content for them is a child's play. And while trying to do this, devs sometimes ignore other features which were making the game fun back in the day. The most obvious thing that destroys newer players is progress reset. When you are a noob to the game, you're going to die A LOT. Dying itself removes most of the new players, but it's the core of the game, so removing it is out of question. However, getting people back on track faster seems to be the thing Deca's trying to do - and I believe that's a way to go, since farming sprites and snakes mindlessly for your 500th char isn't a very fun experience. They also give free char/vault space, because if you get better at not dying, you'll be forced to ignore all your wc drops, because you don't have free space to store them, or fame to feed them to your pet, and that's really frustrating. This, in turn, creates another problem of devaluing drops. If stat pots were a nice bonus in build 100, they're necessary to max your char now, because harder dungeons can just plainly statcheck you. This goes for equip too - if in the early days half of the players had t8 equip at best, now it's pretty common to run full wc tops. So, most dungeons under exalt are considered to be potion grabs, while exalts are "why even try before 8/8"? And if you're 8/8, getting some stat pots from exalted dungeon feels kinda crappy, especially if the whole dungeon is slow to clear. So, what does discord has to do with all of this? It's a byproduct of devs making harder content and players who just want to have fun. In early builds running around in godlands and dying to O1 was fun - but it isn't anymore. You now have to dedicate a few days of pot farming to be able to realistically tackle harder content. Also, a single mistake may destroy your char, forcing you to spend a few days of farming again (except for players who have spare 8/8's - that's why new players can't catch up with old players). While most people will just play mobas or battle royales instead, the ones who want to clear stuff with way less risks of being forced to farm pots for another week, kinda have to get their butt into discord and coordinate there. And it creates a huge skill gap, effectively separating semi-casual and discord players. What Deca can do with it? Considering what happened with WoW, I'd say I have no idea. Though we can try to look into WoW's better days of raid design, namely Ulduar. The bosses in this raid had an interesting feature called "hard mode", which could be triggered by various player actions (like, killing a certain enemy before the boss really fast, or choosing NPCs not to help you). In hard mode the bosses were way harder to kill, but gave better loot. In RotMG a similar mechanic actually exists - you can buff ents/liches/ghost kings to summon more adds and get a chance on a loot from them. The same mechanic could (and I think it should) be implemented on more content, as it may encourage older players to tackle extremely hard content, while giving more casual players an easier time to learn core mechanics of the boss without sending them back to the pot farms. I'd also think of implementing more mid- to high-tier dungeons to bridge the gap between pot farms and exalts (or maybe look for some way to force players into court of Oryx, because it's always ignored unless it's event or players want to farm STs).
The hard mode idea is actually really cool. Instead of being essentially barred from some dungeons because they're too hard for people not in coordinated groups of high level players, the dungeons have an easier base level to them and the coordinated groups of high level players can work together to trigger and complete the harder version. This is sort of what Lost Halls has currently with pub halls going cult and only discords going MBC/Void.
I just got back to RotMG a few days ago since the Unity port. Basically, I just didn't have a PC capable of playing the damn thing by then. The first thing I noticed was that the Realms were really empty, I had to go to the US servers to even see a half-filled realm!
I rly miss the 2016 ish era, game was way more fun and the economy was WAAAAY more stable without dupers and stuff, where 1 life=8 def and you could actually have fun with guildies till late hours on skype/ts instead of farming till you get burned out with discords
why can't you 'actually have fun with guildies' anymore? Like I get it if your guild died, but that's not really a criticism of the game If your guild is active, then you can have that exact 2016 experience again
I have exalted my pally doing solo fungal/cavern and It was kinda fun but getting nothing like whites or st's sucks. I mean I wasted so much time doing this. I didn't buy keys I was just clearing and hoping for the miner. And at the same time, ppl just went discord and did the same thing like 50 times faster. The main problem is there are no rewards for ppl who really understand the game and know how to do it solo for example. Discord ppl exalted their chars stupidly following the group. Life exaltation is the pain of the game there is literally no way to exalt it w/o discord and DECA really need to fix that
As a fungal rl I can agree that realm was never supposed to played with discords. But now a days it feels like the only way to play. But when there are events like keyper it feels fun to hunt realms looking for keypers as a guild
Agreed. Not only would that incentivize the playing of characters like Wizard and Warrior, the two main DPS classes, far beyond what they already are, but it would actively discourage using any character that doesn't do a lot of damage but provides utility when not in an organized run. Most pub runs would look like 50 wizards and warriors, making the existence of certain classes that focus on survivability near useless if you want to get a better shot at loot.
@@sebchoof actually rotf had this exact issue the only way you would be able to get (I forgot the name but let’s go with legendary loot) was if you played warrior because the only way you be able to get this loot was if you did over 2% of the bosses health which was pretty much impossible in a group settings
Honestly haven't even touched most discords (other than the Shatters for the new experience) in ages. Imo it is very possible to play the game without participating in discords, and get really far. I do agree it is a big problem though. Guilds could potentially replace discords if guilds were more well executed. Imagine huge 90 person super-guilds doing daily guild raids.
Issue with guilds is that its basically the same as discords, its just there tend weeds out the inexperienced players more which makes it hard for them to get better at the game
Guild based play punishes those who take long breaks and want to come back to the game. They will either be kicked or the guild is dead when they get back.
@@zachmdful If there wasn't a guild member limit, there would be no need to kick guild members. Even if the guild is dead when they come back, they can always bring some friends along to make their own guild, or revive it with them. When a discord server dies, you sort of just move on to the next one that takes its place, which isn't very different from guilds anyway. A guild requires you to be invited, which incentivizes team play and good behavior to avoid being kicked out, which means trolls can't haunt a guild so long as they don't get let in.
I think exaltations play a large role too. During the fungal event I chose to do runs such as null elite over guild runs because an efficient discord can do about 5-6 an hour vs a guild doing 2-3 an hour. The main problems with the guild run is it can be very hard to get each buff and status effect from a pool of ~8 people online. And each person wants to exalt certain classes, or they have good classes exalted already. The semi-scuffed guild runs can be a lot of fun, but they're also a lot more effort compared to discords steam rolling in a larger group where your contributions aren't as important. You can see this mindset in your elitist runs where you cry whenever an exaltation dungeon takes 1 minute longer than usual 😘
As someone that been playing for ~9 years and only started doing discord runs in the last 2 weeks or so, I honestly think they are really fun and are making me able to experience end-game content without having to waste much time doing so.
I hate when it's like 2am and im clearing a realm for 30 minutes with 6 other people in the realm and an O3 group comes in with over 80 people and takes all my progress away...
So they don’t ask if the realm is taken and they just come in with 80 people in it? Never really seen that before tbh. Every time people have asked when I’m realm clearing if it was taken or not
Player based dmg seems like a bad idea considering the different classes. A Wizard could leech for half of a dungeon and still be more likely to get loot than a priest because of weapons/ability dps
yeah agreed, i think the size on may be more fair, or theres another one that i thought of more recently where theres 2 soulbounds, one to qualify for soulbound and one that maximises your chance of loot and that should be set at a fair level that all classes can hit
Give support classes support points for helping people out when fighting a boss. This way a wizard that does a crapton of damage gets the same amount of loot as a priest who heals the party from the brink of death.
@@sebchoof Better yet, set different thresholds for each class - I believe that's what the BtN devs are doing, so for example a cleric's SB threshold will be lower than a hunter's
@@sebchoof Maybe reward players for the additional damage they give others with their buffs, or the healing they provide others by increasing their 'contribution' to loot drops?
What went wrong with discords in my opinion is tryhards wanting to win this game too easily and faster. This game is supposed to be in some way cooperative multiplayer mmo, so coordination is optional but best to get, this could happen in earlier days as well in teamspeak but people played for fun back then. Also the item requirements and having to do anything rls say or you're banned makes this even worse. Also also the fact that the elitist assholes will get you banned from every discord after you're banned in one of theirs is awful as well. We went from older, more casual and fun oriented runs to boring, elitist, restrictive, meta focused, tryhardy time waster.
I think you also forgot to mention how exaltations kinda fucked newer players wanting to do higher level dungeons too, and not just newer players but more casual veterans who dont really care about exaltations that much. A lot of "vet" runs and high quality discords and runs are gatekeeped by being 4/4 or 2/4 which has also become a problem. I will say 4/4 2/4 runs are fun but its a HUGE detergent for players who are just starting out because O3 pub raids seem to be frowned upon even by the RL's. I dont think Raid dungeons are bad but when you can never even learn the dungeon to begin with because of how exclusive the dungeon becomes behind gatekeeped or "exaltation requirement" discords, its kinda a real bummer
Hello seb and seblings, I am midway of writing this and I just wanted to say I am sorry for how long this turned out lol. I reccomend a glance though of course. I just want to point out that I'm kind of out of touch with what's going on in realm since I have not played realm for a long while. However, here's my opinion on the issue: First I'd like to point out that a big factor in this issue is the fact that (I think) keys are probably the biggest market for deca. I feel that as long as keys exist people would prefer to make the most out of them, and therefore prefer discords over the realm, since they cost them money. If deca were to do anything to disincentivise keys they would be hurting their own income and therefore are apprehensive of doing such actions. These ideas I'm going to bring are reliant on there being a way where Deca can make money out of a different sources and would be able to get rid of keys, or perhaps incentivise players to go with guilds/small non-discord groups/pop in the realm rather than for discords. I would also like to point out that much like time and money, the amount of players an MMO has is a limited resource, and therefore if we push people to do one thing it is more than likely that another field of the game would go completely empty. For example, imagine if we could make it so that all players would want to pop for guilds in guild halls - This would make it so that the discord servers go empty and the realm would stay empty. But, if we make it so that players want to be in the realms guild hall pops and activities isolated from the rest would become less populated. Therefore, I think there is place here for working on increasing the amount of players while working on these issues the game has simultaineously. Encouraging players to pop for things other than discord servers: An idea that came to mind is to just give benefits for how small the run is, or how many guildies are in the run you complete. This can be done via increasing rare loot chance, such as whitebag chance, the smaller the group is, and add a factor for how many guildies are there with you and whether or not the key was popped in guild hall. I think these changes would not only bring guilds back to life, and create a cycle where guilds are being created, and recruited for via the realm (perhaps), but also make discords way less beneficial for the key popper. This can cause a release of a large amount of players from the discords and their division into guilds with smaller groups in them, making it so that there are more avenues for a player to approach (as if there would be not one lhs discord but 50 smaller ones, and you would choose which one to run with). Encouraging players to be in the realm, and loot drop overhaul: I mean, let's face it - the realm sucks. The design of the realm in comparison to most recent dungeons is obsolete and very unenjoyable. I remember in the past, over a year ago, I was clearing realms for a double event whites event (as raid leader/event leader) and it was ok because I could banter a bit while we were doing it, but I cannot imagine myself going to a realm and clearing it rather than just doing a run in a discord. When I was maxing characters, at the point where I was already deep into the halls grind, it was just painful and I was wishing it would be over as soon as I started. And the reason I did it - to join discord runs. Therefore I suggest two things - remake of the realm, for real this time, and changing the way you benefit from being in it and in dungeons generated by it. So what can we do to fix the realms? A few things: We can make it so that clearing can be done a lot faster - Imagine if instead of 50 heroes you have to kill, you'd have like 10-20 more difficult, enjoyable and rewarding minibosses who spawned in the realm inherently, which you would have to defeat to access oryx. No one likes standing there for 20 seconds to wait for a ghost king to be killable, or waiting for an ent to grow, especially when they're so easy even as a fresh level 20. These enemies are just there to delay the realm closure, and that's just not good design IMO. Making these heroes of the realm more rewarding and enjoyable to fight, while reducing the amount you have to kill, would make it so much more fun to just clear the realm. With that, give players more reasons to stay in an unclosed realm - The only thing I see players using the realm for other than closing it, is for leveling, which takes 10 minutes top, and for godlands farming for pots and godlands dungeons. Here's the thing, as a new player, roaming the godlands and doing sprite worlds, snake pits and udls, fearing the abyss and eventually manning up for sewers, was a ton of fun, and what got me heavy into realm initially. I have a vivid memory of taking a 2k fame archer and encouraging my red star friend to join a parasite with me when they were new, after which I died and logged off lol. These are the good things about the realm which we should absolutely make more common-place. Imagine this: Instead of the template maps we have now, we have 40 different, more vast realm maps, which all include multiple types of godlands with ones that are of even higher difficulty. Killing specific gods in specific regions of the godlands will fuel an overall meter which can spawn one of the event gods arena just outside of it, and killing more will enable you to respawn these gods for dungeon spawning. This would make the realms a viable place to farm halls and other dungeons of the sort. We can also fix the closing vs non closing issue by having multiple types of realms, as in a closing realm for oryx, and a hub of some sort where you can grow powerful, with things like elder realms to divide the boys from the men (or girls from the women etc.) or we could have the realm closure replaced with a magnificant portal spawned for 2 minutes for oryx castle every time you clear all of the aformentioned heroes, and when it closes these heroes respawn. A lot more can be applied to these ideas, such as gods dropping cool stuff for new players and such, adding more mid game dungeons for new players etc. Feel free to add on in the replies! What is it about the loot system? Well, I feel as if most people go for a very specific set of dungeons because no one needs pots anymore and therefore people are going for a very small set of dungeons which include the best items. Here are some changes that can be applied: Making maxing less of a chore and more of a challenge - There is a lot to cover here, so I am probably going to divide this to multiple paragraphs. There are various problems which come out of the way maxing is done - the fact that discords require this out of players, the fact that the fastest way to max is to run boring dungeons and the fact that maxing can just be very boring to endgame players. I suggest making maxing easier and harder at the same time (which sounds very odd but I'll explain shortly). I feel that time has come to introduce a multi-level maxing scheme. The way to do this is to make it so that maxing for the first level would be done with pots, which are earned the same way, but the process would be way shorter. Alternatively, we can make it so that the more overall fame you gained on a class, the higher your fresh level 20 stats would be, requiring way less of endgame players than of new players, so that these same boring actions would just be a lot shorter and thus the endgame players would be able to bounce back to the endgame a lot faster. Comboed with pot deprevation or redistribution can allow for this part of the game to be reintroduced for all yet more tolerable. The second level of maxing can be introduced after a fame threshold has been reached and will make use of exalted pots. There are multiple ways to implement this, such as removing exaltations altogether and giving a number times the exalted pots back to the players gift chests, or making exaltations way easier but they would only unlock the ability to max level 2 for the character. Making exaltations increase your abilities to gather exalted pots or making exaltations seperate to this process. By making this more hard to achieve, or achievable only through the dungeons the discords run, hopefully if discords still exist they wouldn't require this of players, and this remake of the maxing system can hopefully make maxing less boring. We can also implement third and fourth level maxing, by introducing them in 2 year intervals, making even harder content and gating players from certain content based on their maxing levels. We can also make it so that players get a lot more fame from the beyond endgame content because of this. However, I am not certain about this since it will enhance the gap between new players and endgame players, so this should be added with caution or with the intent for resets. There are so many more ideas that occasionally come to mind that I'd like to share so perhaps expect some edits. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day :)
I don't play realm much nowadays, but it would be nice to see an in-realm overhaul. It's so outdated and a tad tedious for realm clearing in its current state.
I played over 9 years ago and I just came back and I can honestly say the experience is completely different. I came back at random times throughout the years and I remember when doombows / the armor tome were worth 220 def each. I remember when perma death actually meant perma death and I was also there during the resurrection amulet days. It just feels like the game is not as rewarding as it used to be. I logged back in and I was surprised to see people buying life for 2 dexterity pots when I used to be able to do sprite worlds in 20 seconds but still had minor trouble doing tombs.
i think small runs should be possible, not mandatory. I like playing solo, I don't want to join a guild just to be able to advance in the game. I don't like having to join a huge discord call to complete a dungeon, but this is better than having to join a guild. I think end game content should be easier to solo. Right now you either have a fully exalted character with the best of the best gear available or you spend hours to complete a run that could be done in minutes with a group.
No ones saying you have to join a discord in order to complete a dungeon though bruh, you can literally just buy a key and do the entire dungeon yourself
I want to apologise in advance for my not accurate understanding of English language because I actually could miss something in both: video and in formulation of my own thought. So basically 90% video's content is about explaining situation and game's problems rather than answering on a question "How to fix..?". I understand there are might be people who may not know what game used to be before discord runs. As for my understanding, 3-4 minutes would be enough to point out all problems without going into old stories and vibe. I would like to see more expanded "Can Deca fix it?" part. You offered 2 ways to make dungeons more enjoyable for small runs: 1) Change drop rate system by adding Dealt Damage factor that increases white% 2) Make HP scaling more comfortable for a few people party. But you didn't explain how it would work. Did you think that these changes would make current dps classes meta even more cursed? Why would i choose assassin, hunterss, trickster and etc class? They might be funny to play but "now" expect of small dps they also have lower drop rates considered to other classes. Nah, i would better become wizzy/war as 99% of other players. This video answered how discord runs effected the game (as for me it is not ruined btw xd). But i didn't see decent answer, solution about actual problem.
If deca wanted to fix the issue that is ‘discord is making realm bad’ then they should make it so that they force ppl to do content in realms vs popping keys -ex: There are discord’s that prioritize completing o3’s and the only way to complete an o3 is to clear an entire realm which makes that realm have an increase in activity. This is one example and it does have its drawbacks such as overcrowded realms, but it’s a step in the right direction to fix the issue that ‘discord has ruined realm’ -It you think that deca will stop people from buying keys and therefore ppl can’t pop keys in bazaars is not going to happen. Why, because ppl buying keys is the main source of income that deca makes from realm.
I just miss having been able to close a realm with like under 20 randoms to do a fun Oryx run, sometimes even lower than 10. But now it seems every 5 mins someome comes in and if it is on ents will notify their discord and just flood the realm to steamroll everything, forcing you to go recklessly to hope to get any loot if you aren't a fast class.
The problem with Discords is that there is no benefit from being a guild or doing anything solo or any "counters" that trigger when parties do too much DPS. No benefit from guilds: This one should be pretty obvious, this means there's no guild building, there are no adventures, there's not as much connection, etc. Games like bit heroes (REALLY BAD GAME but has a really good guild system) have a system where guild fame is needed for benefits and you always need to compete with other guilds for different stuff, actively swapping out old members if you want better perks or just chilling there. Spiral Knights and other games have features where u can automatically join dungeons to help out with other players but due to how loot works in rotmg this is probably not possible. a nice thing to add also would be guild trophies or quests where they can collect tons of marks to showcase things like Oryx 3 trophies. Doing anything solo: Doing anything solo in this game is completely detrimental. While it is 1 of, if not the best way to test someone's skill in the game, there are no rewards to doing that. While people might argue that this is an MMORPG there aren't any raids that can't be solo'ed outside of maybe void. So ultimately if u want to test someone's skill in the game it would be from soloing, therefore exaltations or some other end-game achievements should be based on those. Counters for High DPS: This is kinda obvious. Only Raids are able to do higher DPS than normal pubs, so having counters that threaten raid parties better will make raids slightly harder. *Player cap dungeons:* This is a problem even Deca admits. The amount of players that can enter a dungeon is WAY too high and causes a ton of balance issues. Health scaling is one of them. With high player cap dungeons, it basically allows as many people to go into raids as possible rather than force a small group of highly trained players to do it themselves rather than carry 10-20 other people. If you want to try to take down discords, you have to make sure A: Something takes their place in-game like Guilds. B: Make Discording at a disadvantage compared to other methods.
It's simple, make dungeons you pop with keys have a cap of say, 10 people, while dungeons that occur naturally in realm have the same cap as the realm itself. Then just make realms quicker to complete (but more difficult going off of the amount of people in-realm) and you have a proper experience going again. Also, if you're popping a dungeon in guild hall, it has the same cap as guild cap, to incentivize guild play and actually growing your guild if you want more people.
The biggest problem with realms is that you can only drop 1 of each dungeon. If you missed the nest/fungal etc. well then tough luck or you have to wait for it not knowing if it’ll even spawn. It’s better to be in a discord knowing there is a high chance for a chain and even more now with modifiers. This adds on to the next problem of players not getting enough experience. Less exposure means no experience which means less will go inside the dungeons. It also doesn’t help that there are a lot of unfriendly mechanics to punish random unorganized groups. For example the the vial needed to open void, 3 rare runes for o3, and now 8 fking switches for the new shatters + those escort missions to reach 2nd. If they want to make something hard they should do it via the bosses not the filler before them. To fix this they should make these dungeons drop at a certain time like current MOTMG. We had actual lost halls runs knowing the dungeon will be dropping after appetizer. pub o3s also happen when osanc is free because it’s accessible.
There has been a decrease in the amount of raid leaders for lost halls since 2020, I don’t know why, but I think it is because the game is not fun when you have to constantly carry people through the run and so they quit playing because it isn’t not fun anymore. Realm might naturally fix itself, because raid leaders aren’t having fun being raid leaders and leaving discords.
I think having the guild actually having a use like providing a way for people to get keys so if you want to do the organized discord runs you can but if you also want to play with a guild you can.
Honestly, there's so many problems with the high tier dungeon design that exacerbates the problem. Runes being far too rare or expensive to get for random runs, the excessive amount of pots making the reason for doing them being exclusively gear (leading to power creeping to keep that incentive worthwhile), HP scaling forcing mid size runs instead of large and small ones, etc. The fact that the efficiency of doing discord runs for high tier shit outmatches playing normal realms to the extent that the only time players are in one is when they're closing for o3 is unbelievable, and I can't believe that the problem exists to the extent it does to this day.
Games have to stop just assuming we're using Discord or big groups... If you want BIG events or dungeons in your game, make a way for people to group well, don't just expect 3rd party programs or your players to come up with shit because they can't be bothered to think about what you do.
I was realm clearing. Osanc discord came there and one guy in pub chat said. „this is an osanc keyper! Leave or you will be suspended!“ And i was like wtf? Its still a pub realm you guys are not allowed to claim a keyper. You dont Pay for this realm with a key/rune or anything else to say that this is ur keyper 😂 Best experience in Realm 2k21
I've brought this up in other discussions and I feel like it would help a lot. Dungeons in the realm (natural pops) should have a base rate for rare drops that is 1.5x or 2x that of key pops (key pop drop rates are the same as current drop rates to prevent loss of value). This would incentivize more realm-based gameplay. Modifiers are just an added bonus on top of this "natural" bonus. Key poppers/discords doing bazaar raids will continue to have the efficiency advantage of course, but at least natural pops have a higher incentive for them to done. About your point on loot drop based on damage dealt, this is a terrible idea because that will directly increase the value of high DPS items, which are already way sought over non DPS items. The DPS meta will be even worse if that is implemented, and other items will be made obsolete, if not even more obsolete than before. Non DPS classes would have a natural disadvantage against DPS classes (why play anything other than wizard for optimal gameplay). In-game organization like parties or something (perhaps allowing you to /summon everyone in your party to a dungeon if they are in the same realm) would also help non discord players just vibing in the realm. The leader can accept or deny requests to join the party if a person is too poorly geared or whatever. Of course there will still be randoms joining natural pops, this will not be limited by this party/raid system. In addition this won't affect discords because they already have VCs
@@peterpete7405 As greedy as DECA is, they did introduce vital combat which directly nerfed pets, which were undoubtedly a good source of income. In addition they made fame easier to obtain, so pet feeding is rarely an issue compared to when it was back then, which is another hit to their profits. They were able to cast aside profits to create a more balanced game then so why couldn't they do something like this now? Perhaps I'm being too optimistic but there is a chance maybe
@@herwin3546 unlikely, a 1.5 - 2x drop rate increase would not be enough to overcome the hassle of doing public realm runs for most discords. They can likely do 2-3 runs via efficient keys before they do 1 realm run because people would have to search for locs and all that, not to mention the part where you can't kick crashers in natural pops
So now the only reason realms are filled is because a bunch of raiders are clearing it for a specific event, while people in the realm just to grind get bitched at for "being in a taken realm"? All this would do is funnel the white bag hunters into realms just long enough for the corresponding event to spawn.
I think one potential solution to make playing and doing dungeons inside Realms more desirable could be lower HP scaling in the endgame dungeons that drop in the Realm.
Ive been playing this game for too long and solo/duo its almost impossible to find a lost halls marble in public. I would love to see a vault wipe and making dungeons a lot harder with less pot drops but more gear. Sprites are too ezy for only dex and no gear, i made a ppe and was doing nests with a t4 ability and t3 hp ring bc i couldnt find one. Over all i feel like there should be a vault wipe and increase gear chance and lower pot chance, you can max def and dex just by doing sprites, and you can trade the dex and def for life cheap theres no value anymore everyone has everything.
Deca would never do something as insane as a vault wipe. This would drive away so many players and wreck the beloved revenue. The only way to do that sort of hard reset at this point without pissing a large portion of the playerbase off and causing them to leave would be to make a new game entirely.
Loot + damage scaling sounds like a fun idea: depending on the amount of people in the run and the amount of damage a player does can scale the chance of loot you get, it would also not ruin small runs as well as large runs!
@@mrswalter4079 You can keep the loot chances the same but just have it so that people who have 4/4 sets have an extra chance on getting white bags so its like a bonus for having good items because as long as you hit soulbound you cant really steal other people's loot however, I think deca should add this after they make an anti-cheat cuz it would be stupid to add stuff now
My account is 10 years old, been playing this ever since I was 12, I absolutely HATE having to sit on discord to be able to do any content so I never completed any Void, did make ONE O3, MBC, no new shatters and pretty much everything else, but absolutely NO one wants to do public MBC, the game is in a weird state and I definitely feel we need a change, probably a new tier for o3 (T8 ability sprites exist so maybe something to do with that), and move stuff like void/new shatters to current o3 tier while giving o3 a higher one as incentive, and probably rework the loot drop system
I got back into Realm a year ago and have been doing pretty well. My problem with the game is the Exalt dungeons are WAY too long and have annoying difficulty. Its fairly unreasonable publicly. I hate that you need to join a discord and play their way to beat endgame content that still takes a long time. Its not even like beating an endgame dungeon does anything, you still need to complete INSANE amounts for exalts and very low white bag chance. The devs could make every Exalt dungeon Remnant of the Void difficulty and it would still take over 2,000 hours to exalt every character casually
@@sebchoof Discords still feel very unappealing to me. I started playing when it first launched on Kongregate so it will always be a silly, but unforgiving, game. I still have fun, but O3, Shats, Crystal, and now Kogbold are too much of a barrier but I have pretty much done everything else.
@@Verlisify yeahh i agree, best and funnest way you can experience end game dungeons is with a guild or joining a full realm and hoping that people join you :D, i see a lot of people going into those dungeons that you mentioned in full realms in useast and use2 servers
@@Verlisify yeahh i defintely empathize with you, best way to learn them is by trying to reach new record points for youself, and also using youtube vids or discord runs to learn i got a full series called HPE videos that have largely unedited bossfights petless with bad gear of exalted dungeons that might help ; D
My opinion on the discord issue. They would not have been nearly as much of a problem if the game weren't as exploitable as it is in my opinion. pets threw off the balance of the game immensely and that has never really been corrected for in difficulty even in endgame dungeons, and cheating allows people to complete things faster than humanly possible without cheats, its no surprise that people organized to grind the game as efficiently as possible, i just think that the bad aspects of the game and community intensify discords to the point where it becomes a problem.
Drop Vicinity Coms in game for players who want it. Problem solved. Create Voice channels to join in game. Create Ping systems to alert players. Create ALERTING Sounds for monsters when triggered that plays for all players.
I’ve been preaching for a while that DECA has been needing to add a group finder of some sort where key poppers can set the key prerequisites for the dungeon they’re popping. Would give people an alternative for Discord’s and it wouldn’t kill it completely for the people that like using the Discord servers.
What I don't like is o3's runs they are run purely on discord which makes it very hard to get top tier loot. Plus if it were in a pub realm there would be like 1 person with a rune, making these runs barely happen. A lot of these endgame stuff is truly incentivised around this discord stuff and I get what your saying it needs to change. Hopefully deca makes changes.
im all for a more casual experience as much as everyone else but the problem is how deca is handling content like for example look at the shatters rework Im a semi casual player who can barely do the harder dungeons and i was just gaining confidence in doing the shatts by joing a discord but then they went and reworked it to make it 10x harder for a greater stat potion which is absurd to me and on top of that it pushes people like me to actually have to join a discord and listen to a raid leader on what to do because otherwise theres no other way to learn a dungeon once i get a few runs in without dying i know what to do for next time and then ill be more prepped to do it in a realm but until then its really hard for me to do any of the harder dungeons by myself and the only solution is a discord but the only way to combat discord is to make the dungeons harder which becomes an endless cycle
maybe keys should have higher chance of minions shooting faster etc and the hp scaling is higher in small groups. meanwhile dungeons spawned in the realm should have higher chance of loot/white bags. this way private popping will be less common and people will be more incentivized to clear realms.
Private runs did not ruin the game. Power creeping end game dungeons ruin the game. Maybe if the maxing process wasn’t the worst part of the game, players would be Willing to risk their time investment for slightly better tiered/ Unique uts.
If you ever tried a solo lost halls they always say cult bc marble is too hard for a public, what if they made public dungeon easy with little loot but had loot increase modifier for playing with a guild?????? So like if you did a lost halls with your guild there will be less people but more loot, but public dungeons would be filled with people but little loot.
I think /kick is the worst command added to the game as it adds a feature to the game where either your group out damages every boss in the game and forces the game into a state that every boss requires invunrability. Same reason there are people with max groups sitting in o3 speed running oryx with full exalted characters.
Just add a Dungeon party finder for the game and make the realm itself do something else entirely. Clearing realms just to have events not spawn because they had been cleared earlier is just not fun. Discord didn't ruin Rotmg. Rotmg just wasn't keeping up with the times and Discords are the most effective way to do the most fun Part of Rotmg consistently.
Built in voice chat is the only way I can see people moving away from Discords. It's just comforting to have immediate communication with people instead of relying on the chat.
Discord meta is here because DECA refuses to design dungeons that can actually be done by randos in a realm. It's weird that your "solution" seems to be "just organize small runs unless you have a skill issue". I think DECA needs to make a raiding system that is compatible with voice for randoms to pick up and play with each other. Also I think that for the health of the game DECA and the player base should consider more radical changes to keys. Perhaps on certain days no keys can be popped, or only certain dungeons can open in bazaars to force discords and a lot of the player base back into the realm instead of living out of a bazaar.
@@ahtomogger9969 This is a bad take on what I said. Having layers of difficulty in ROTMG is great but I think that DECA's design philosophy pushes for discords to run everything. I think as a community all options should be brought to the table to make the game more realm-centric. I think dungeon modifiers were an effort towards that goal but kind of a swing and a miss since you can just roll mods for gold.
im a casual player and dont really stick to guilds so discords help a lot for someone like me who doesnt play a whole bunch but like to play sometimes and join a run quickly or instantly then just get off and not play. but i can admit the system needs changing
The game's own voice chat and a party up system kinda like RuneScape for the loot share 9 people chat parties make gold st and white bags drop % If the run is started and finished with the 9 people
If you let them, players will definitely optimize the fun out of your game in the name of efficiency. I think dungeons should absolutely not allow more people in them than makes sense in terms of challenge. There exists no way to make a 40 people Nest challenging and fun, so let's not even try. Keeping those small means it's much harder to leech them, even in discords. The problem I see with discords is that it's insanely efficient, AND it doesn't actually create players that are good at those dungeons anyway, so those players that just happen to find a portal in realm are not interested in a free dungeon, since they actually probably lack the skill to complete it anyway.. Let's say Nests allow 8 people in them at most. (Keys and realm drops would obviously need to be rethought, let's ignore that for now). Doing them in Discord still means that you'd have to contribute, can't leech as easily. As you get better through either public or discord runs, you actually do get better. The population of players able to run small groups and not leech the dungeons increase, augmenting the chances that realm dropped dungeons get run. Right now a skilled player looking at a realm dropped exaltation dungeon has to consider doing this solo/small run, versus running a 3 minutes duped key at 40 people in some discord for the same reward. Efficiency wins, and doing the content is not worth the time. An unskilled player cannot complete the dungeon, but can still complete the 40-man leeched run, so it's not even an option. I think limiting the dungeons makes sure the content remains relevant and not trivialized as easily, and would allow the devs (Deca or others for other games) to adjust the loot accordingly. Give bunch of "cosmetic" rewards to completions under some circumstances. Like give everyone at the end of the fight their damage dealt. Did a run as top damage? Get progress towards some "Mastery" title of some kind. Did a run where you carried someone new that didn't do much damage, but survived? Get some progress towards a "Teacher" title of some kind for that dungeon. Have ways to showcase those things you care about. Have those runs increase your drop chances. Literally nothing can be done when an endgame dungeon ran under some circumstances is as difficult as a snake pit. It's a game design dead end, there's no way out but backwards.
i miss the time where you could just run down mid in a shatters just so you could do it with the guild for the life pots like you said... rip the old shatters meta good times though still have the old buldo video where we would bait people to lava walk just to get the loot for the guild
Discords I feel allow some newer players to understand how to complete the end game dungeons, for myself I never completed public MBC or void because I just couldn’t understand and the groups were shit, discord’s help people with getting completes and more knowledge of how the game works
I have posted a video about this before, but it was before discord totally screwed realm. Made a lot of people angry it was funny. Thank God I'm not the only one. Miss the old days.
Playing realm without discord is not the same experience as with it... but i don't like discord runs. (idk why, maybe cause its so hectic and 75% of the time im sitting in the lobby and then iam to late for joining XD) The Problem is i cant do things like LH or O3 or the new shatts without discord so i only doin midgame stuff currently XD EDIT: LH is actually doable without Discord but random groups always doin Cult ...
discords have good things too. And its that you learn harder dungeons thats almost impossible without a good group. deca could actully nerf the dungeons so that its doible to make with randoms
Ah yes guaranteed loot randomly dispersed O3 style. The perfect way to build extreme elitism, toxicity and PVPing as much as possible in your game to fuck the game for anyone who's not already an endgame player.
if you werent wrong then in the tombs/ots/shatters era there would of been elitism/toxicity/pvping but it wasnt common, its only an issue now because of the rune system makes people think o3s can be private and then theres some people that are just kids
@@sebchoof the rune system is the problem with o3 tbh. It wouldn’t be such a big deal if you only needed 1 or heck make it a drop from everything like inc. idk it’s just flawed
@@sebchoof I dunno, during last free rune event out of literally every single Dammah I ran... ZERO of them weren't PVP'd. Over half of the Leucs third countered. These lategame players were incentivised to kill off newer players' work because they get more efficient loot, so they did. And back in the day I remember people in pub Tombs would definitely dirty that shit on purpose to get new players killed for more chance at life.
Ask anyone if they done a O3, LH in realm lol, literally no one, and that’s what is wrong with the game. New players dies regularly while DECA only focus on end game dungeons to keep the old players interested. At the same time pressure people to buy keys to make more people used discord. Essentially they need a better tutorial in game or in their official RUclips channel, most importantly having a balance between weapons tiers, pots and player limit per dungeon aswell as survival
discord is not the problem, the problem is that all endgame content circles around big groups. we all know that its almost ALMOST impossible for 3 random players in a random realm to have 3 runes to open o3, and now its even more impossible for these 3 players to have EACH different runes, plus now look at shats, they turn an old medium-decent dungeon into a extremly difficulty dungeon where even switchs can bonk you if you stare at them too much (and yea dont come with the shit about yEA jUsT CleAR a REalM anD Do SOlO ShaTTeRS because we all know only like 3-5$ of the players are xxxtruetrihardgamersxxx that do solo content and whith their gamer client they will never die anyway so)
The one thing I can say that’s against this video is I’ve been crashing o3s the last couple weeks just to learn the dungeon and I’ve seen a lot more smallgroup/guild runs that I’ve even heard of in a long time
There is nothing wrong with discord’s I don’t understand what you mean about how they are “not new player friendly”. Most discord’s requirements are tops and 2/8 for early mid game dungeons (nest, cult etc.) because of the market right now someone could easily get tops from the “trade server” for either free or some dex pots. As for dex and atk maxing sprites are not hard and attack can take a little bit, but pups/manors are a good way to get them easily. I am someone who has “raised” new players into this game and they have easily been able to make it into discord’s without much help within 40 hours of gameplay. You say that dungeons should be based on how much damage you do but would that not make the game boring once your at a peak? Personally I realm wouldn’t be realm if everyone was stacked with 4/4 gear. Essentially what your saying is that good people should get good loot and bad people should get bad loot. Small runs are good for some dungeons BUT they are not new player friendly (I mean like new to endgame dungeons). Small groups normally require good dps gear to run with them and new players don’t have that yet unless there extremely lucky. Furthermore, not everyone has a good guild/freinds to play the game with that are good enough for that. I’d say 30% of people who play rotmg could run a void with a group less than or equal to 8. I was introduced to this game and abandoned to learn it on my own and I had to convince my friends (of which half still play) with me so that I could try the endgame dungeons with smaller people. Finally, even good guilds are hard to get into because they have character requirements and fame requirements normally. For the people that complain that running discord’s are boring there are discord’s where rl’s don’t talk (those are normally smaller and passed over ment for the better players), but people have to start somewhere. Even then if they don’t need the RL they can mute him and open discord on a browser and double vc with their friends. Oops I forgot to mention why there is nothing wrong with discord’s. They provide a safe, easy, new player friendly, lots of loot, and new player friendly environment to play in. Sometimes the rl even makes it fun to go into autopilot and just talk with the rl in the chat. I don’t think I could imagine ANY game without discord. EVERY single modern day video game has discord’s that help the game out like a crutch. Need a team to play some ranked games, discord need some new freinds to play with, discord need some help on a game, (this could be switched out with something else but normally you would get a response faster here). Discord’s really help out the gaming community in every video game. Agian sorry if I missed anything. I think I missed one more point that you made I will prob rewatch this video and comment again on the things I missed later. Thanks for reading feel free to argue about one of my points. I like a good argument👍
The point that u need to join discord to do endgame dungeon is already stupid. U know , when I launch computer game I want to play it, not to join discord and wait for raid. Thats the one of main reasons why realm has less than 2k online without events
@@ВиталийАскет if you don’t want to wait for a raid to start become an RL. It’s not that hard and it’s a new fun area of a game, that’s why I become one. And you can’t say you don’t have time for that because if your waiting for discord’s to start you have time to become an rl. If you don’t want to use discord then don’t play realm, realm and discord go together and there really is no way to stop that. It was and would have been in every situation inevitable. You will only get so far without a way to communicate and organize runs. I’ll use Xbox as an example, on Xbox there is a way to directly message someone while they are offline and easily hop into at vc with them in any game. However in rotmg there is no way to communicate like that. Even guilds use discords cause they can communicate better. @@TidalCat2566 Its not that easy for most ppl to become RL especially for new players and becoming RL solve only half of problem cuz u still need keys. Im talking about core problem of game then to do endgame dungeon someone needs to buy key then join vc and go into bazaar, not defeat oryx minions and so on. And this is DECAs fault for example then dungeon modifiers was on testing I hoped that exaltation dungeons dropping from events like sentry would have guaranteed A tier and like 25% of having S tier, so sentry cults would be actually a thing, dung modifiers came out and.... its 5% of having S tier for exaltation dungeons so dung modifiers didnt change anything. U can be OK with that state of the game but realm will stay 2-3k online if DECA dont change anything
@@ВиталийАскетyou can say that there are only 2-3k people online because discord’s are boring. There’s no real evidence of that. I have done a pub void in the realm with random people. The truth is pub runs go on all the time, it’s just the people that sit in discords don’t do pub runs
Yeah realm discords are whack man. I feel like I’m being interrogated for an FBI job and if you mess up one thing on your verification they fucking suspend you or ban you. Hella intimidating for new players and really puts a block for people who want to get into exalting their characters

Especially when someone had an Inc and popped wine cellar

Yes If it has a kinda high star requirement
I still think this won’t work. Similar to destiny 2. Destiny 2 on discords is massive, just like rotmg but it’s a way bigger game. They added an in game ‘find raid team mates’ feature and not a single person used it
i would agree like a LFG type thing
Or just update guilds
So you would do exactly the same thing but you just hate discord or what, the app isnt a problem itself its about the way the game is being played

I'd also think of implementing more mid- to high-tier dungeons to bridge the gap between pot farms and exalts (or maybe look for some way to force players into court of Oryx, because it's always ignored unless it's event or players want to farm STs).
ok but DON'T BUFF GKINGS
you get the ST's regardless if it's buffed or not, and you literally just waste time :)
Nice comment

I just got back to RotMG a few days ago since the Unity port. Basically, I just didn't have a PC capable of playing the damn thing by then.
The first thing I noticed was that the Realms were really empty, I had to go to the US servers to even see a half-filled realm!
I rly miss the 2016 ish era, game was way more fun and the economy was WAAAAY more stable without dupers and stuff, where 1 life=8 def and you could actually have fun with guildies till late hours on skype/ts instead of farming till you get burned out with discords

As a fungal rl I can agree that realm was never supposed to played with discords. But now a days it feels like the only way to play. But when there are events like keyper it feels fun to hunt realms looking for keypers as a guild
I agree most you have sad but loot chance being proportional to damage dealth is a beyond terrible idea.
@@lucastran5583 Spot on.
i kind of agree, though i dont know how it worked in btn/rotf so well, im defintely more for it to depends on amount of players
@@sebchoof actually rotf had this exact issue the only way you would be able to get (I forgot the name but let’s go with legendary loot) was if you played warrior because the only way you be able to get this loot was if you did over 2% of the bosses health which was pretty much impossible in a group settings
Fight discord while Deca puts dungeons that last 1 hour to finish them and that must be completed 75 times XD
You can see this mindset in your elitist runs where you cry whenever an exaltation dungeon takes 1 minute longer than usual 😘
agreed! i think it started before exalts but exalts solidified it, i complain about time because i gamify the boring runs by making them a speedrun xD
As someone that been playing for ~9 years and only started doing discord runs in the last 2 weeks or so, I honestly think they are really fun and are making me able to experience end-game content without having to waste much time doing so.

However, here's my opinion on the issue:
First I'd like to point out that a big factor in this issue is the fact that (I think) keys are probably the biggest market for deca.
Encouraging players to pop for things other than discord servers:
An idea that came to mind is to just give benefits for how small the run is, or how many guildies are in the run you complete.
Encouraging players to be in the realm, and loot drop overhaul:
I mean, let's face it - the realm sucks.
A few things:
We can make it so that clearing can be done a lot faster - Imagine if instead of 50 heroes you have to kill, you'd have like 10-20 more difficult, enjoyable and rewarding minibosses who spawned in the realm inherently, which you would have to defeat to access oryx.
Here are some changes that can be applied:
Making maxing less of a chore and more of a challenge - There is a lot to cover here, so I am probably going to divide this to multiple paragraphs.
It's so outdated and a tad tedious for realm clearing in its current state.
i think your right
next week theres gonna be a full in depth rework of the realm
I played over 9 years ago and I just came back and I can honestly say the experience is completely different. I came back at random times throughout the years and I remember when doombows / the armor tome were worth 220 def each. I remember when perma death actually meant perma death and I was also there during the resurrection amulet days. It just feels like the game is not as rewarding as it used to be. I logged back in and I was surprised to see people buying life for 2 dexterity pots when I used to be able to do sprite worlds in 20 seconds but still had minor trouble doing tombs.
I LOVED going in pub tombs back in the day with an assassin just YEETing poisons and getting stacks
i think small runs should be possible, not mandatory.
@@kohuuh No one wants to buy a key my guy.
You offered 2 ways to make dungeons more enjoyable for small runs:
1) Change drop rate system by adding Dealt Damage factor that increases white%
2) Make HP scaling more comfortable for a few people party.
But i didn't see decent answer, solution about actual problem.
my bad! i should of expanded on my idea of a solution which was mostly fixing loot incentives, my favourite one being scaling loot with people
If deca wanted to fix the issue that is ‘discord is making realm bad’ then they should make it so that they force ppl to do content in realms vs popping keys
-ex: There are discord’s that prioritize completing o3’s and the only way to complete an o3 is to clear an entire realm which makes that realm have an increase in activity. This is one example and it does have its drawbacks such as overcrowded realms, but it’s a step in the right direction to fix the issue that ‘discord has ruined realm’
-It you think that deca will stop people from buying keys and therefore ppl can’t pop keys in bazaars is not going to happen. Why, because ppl buying keys is the main source of income that deca makes from realm.
I just miss having been able to close a realm with like under 20 randoms to do a fun Oryx run, sometimes even lower than 10. But now it seems every 5 mins someome comes in and if it is on ents will notify their discord and just flood the realm to steamroll everything, forcing you to go recklessly to hope to get any loot if you aren't a fast class.
keys are the worst part of ROTMG
The problem with Discords is that there is no benefit from being a guild or doing anything solo or any "counters" that trigger when parties do too much DPS.
No benefit from guilds:
This one should be pretty obvious, this means there's no guild building, there are no adventures, there's not as much connection, etc.
Doing anything solo:
Doing anything solo in this game is completely detrimental.
Counters for High DPS:
This is kinda obvious. Only Raids are able to do higher DPS than normal pubs, so having counters that threaten raid parties better will make raids slightly harder.
*Player cap dungeons:*
This is a problem even Deca admits.
If you want to try to take down discords, you have to make sure
A: Something takes their place in-game like Guilds.
Realm might naturally fix itself, because raid leaders aren’t having fun being raid leaders and leaving discords.
forced to be in a discord in order to run end game dungeons (including the new shatters).
No ones forcing yah, though
True also vials for voids and the time restricted nature of it doesn’t help
Games have to stop just assuming we're using Discord or big groups... If you want BIG events or dungeons in your game, make a way for people to group well, don't just expect 3rd party programs or your players to come up with shit because they can't be bothered to think about what you do.
What are these other "realm like" games you speak of?
I was realm clearing. Osanc discord came there and one guy in pub chat said. „this is an osanc keyper! Leave or you will be suspended!“
And i was like wtf? Its still a pub realm you guys are not allowed to claim a keyper. You dont Pay for this realm with a key/rune or anything else to say that this is ur keyper 😂
Best experience in Realm 2k21
In addition this won't affect discords because they already have VCs
why would deca add that? at the end of the day deca is trying to make the most they can from keys. look at modifiers
Perhaps I'm being too optimistic but there is a chance maybe
keys giving less would mean that discords would go to public dungeons, because their whole point is to efficiently farm exalts/loot
I think one potential solution to make playing and doing dungeons inside Realms more desirable could be lower HP scaling in the endgame dungeons that drop in the Realm.
you literally do this, you're apart of all these discords
Ive been playing this game for too long and solo/duo its almost impossible to find a lost halls marble in public. I would love to see a vault wipe and making dungeons a lot harder with less pot drops but more gear. Sprites are too ezy for only dex and no gear, i made a ppe and was doing nests with a t4 ability and t3 hp ring bc i couldnt find one. Over all i feel like there should be a vault wipe and increase gear chance and lower pot chance, you can max def and dex just by doing sprites, and you can trade the dex and def for life cheap theres no value anymore everyone has everything.
@@cook1ezz Needs a path of exile 2 treatment. A vault wipe would solve all of the problems IF Deca stops doing stupid welfare events.
Deca would never do something as insane as a vault wipe. This would drive away so many players and wreck the beloved revenue. The only way to do that sort of hard reset at this point without pissing a large portion of the playerbase off and causing them to leave would be to make a new game entirely.
Loot + damage scaling sounds like a fun idea: depending on the amount of people in the run and the amount of damage a player does can scale the chance of loot you get, it would also not ruin small runs as well as large runs!
it'll ruin ppl that doin ppe, or upe and also new player that dont have 4/4 dps set
@@mrswalter4079 You can keep the loot chances the same but just have it so that people who have 4/4 sets have an extra chance on getting white bags so its like a bonus for having good items because as long as you hit soulbound you cant really steal other people's loot
however, I think deca should add this after they make an anti-cheat cuz it would be stupid to add stuff now
I played rotmg after a few years and i was just really disappointed that no one was doing public tombs/ot's/shatts
The devs could make every Exalt dungeon Remnant of the Void difficulty and it would still take over 2,000 hours to exalt every character casually
yeahh its tough, at least discords are a lot more casual when it comes to requirements and rules than when i made this video
@@sebchoof I play on the populated servers but pub runs still notorious and the dungeons are hard

idea: if you have 5 or less people there is significantly larger chance for whitebag drop
My opinion on the discord issue.
They would not have been nearly as much of a problem if the game weren't as exploitable as it is in my opinion. pets threw off the balance of the game immensely and that has never really been corrected for in difficulty even in endgame dungeons, and cheating allows people to complete things faster than humanly possible without cheats, its no surprise that people organized to grind the game as efficiently as possible, i just think that the bad aspects of the game and community intensify discords to the point where it becomes a problem.
paying a weekly fee to join the tomb pitch discord is a memory I had comepletely forgotten

Create ALERTING Sounds for monsters when triggered that plays for all players.
I’ve been preaching for a while that DECA has been needing to add a group finder of some sort where key poppers can set the key prerequisites for the dungeon they’re popping.
Would give people an alternative for Discord’s and it wouldn’t kill it completely for the people that like using the Discord servers.
my proposal to make the public realm more popular is to make all realm event dungeons grade a or s only and all bought keys have no grade
Yes this is why I quit the game back in 2017 discord really took out the magic in this game.
Hey sebchoof what music did you use? Sounds like ronald jenkee’s remix?
some video game ones ;p
im all for a more casual experience as much as everyone else but the problem is how deca is handling content like for example look at the shatters rework Im a semi casual player who can barely do the harder dungeons and i was just gaining confidence in doing the shatts by joing a discord but then they went and reworked it to make it 10x harder for a greater stat potion which is absurd to me and on top of that it pushes people like me to actually have to join a discord and listen to a raid leader on what to do because otherwise theres no other way to learn a dungeon once i get a few runs in without dying i know what to do for next time and then ill be more prepped to do it in a realm but until then its really hard for me to do any of the harder dungeons by myself and the only solution is a discord but the only way to combat discord is to make the dungeons harder which becomes an endless cycle
maybe keys should have higher chance of minions shooting faster etc and the hp scaling is higher in small groups.
meanwhile dungeons spawned in the realm should have higher chance of loot/white bags.
this way private popping will be less common and people will be more incentivized to clear realms.
True!

PAIN
Private runs did not ruin the game. Power creeping end game dungeons ruin the game.
Maybe if the maxing process wasn’t the worst part of the game, players would be Willing to risk their time investment for slightly better tiered/ Unique uts.
seb a lot of people like to say you are righteous and arrogant but i completely agree with you on the forge and discords
im just having fun with discussions lately :)
THIS
Built in voice chat is the only way I can see people moving away from Discords.
Perhaps on certain days no keys can be popped, or only certain dungeons can open in bazaars to force discords and a lot of the player base back into the realm instead of living out of a bazaar.
making easy dungeons dont make bullet hell game better
The game's own voice chat and a party up system kinda like RuneScape for the loot share 9 people chat parties make gold st and white bags drop % If the run is started and finished with the 9 people
For me the problem is not discord but buying keys in the store.
(idk why, maybe cause its so hectic and 75% of the time im sitting in the lobby and then iam to late for joining XD) The Problem is i cant do things like LH or O3 or the new shatts without discord so i only doin midgame stuff currently XD
EDIT: LH is actually doable without Discord but random groups always doin Cult ...
discords have good things too. And its that you learn harder dungeons thats almost impossible without a good group. deca could actully nerf the dungeons so that its doible to make with randoms
the chat is saying vihaantummia in the shatters clip uh ohhhhh
very important input here: discord is to realm what addons are to wow, gotta roll back the designs they made in realm regsrding hp scaling and shit

We should have campaign every month so the realms never die
This is why some people are so fond of the Kabam days, lol
Ask anyone if they done a O3, LH in realm lol, literally no one, and that’s what is wrong with the game. New players dies regularly while DECA only focus on end game dungeons to keep the old players interested. At the same time pressure people to buy keys to make more people used discord. Essentially they need a better tutorial in game or in their official RUclips channel, most importantly having a balance between weapons tiers, pots and player limit per dungeon aswell as survival
no outro song in description sadge
Why this game still doesn't have a raiding system..
Music?
I've heard it before but don't remember
discord is not the problem, the problem is that all endgame content circles around big groups. we all know that its almost ALMOST impossible for 3 random players in a random realm to have 3 runes to open o3, and now its even more impossible for these 3 players to have EACH different runes, plus now look at shats, they turn an old medium-decent dungeon into a extremly difficulty dungeon where even switchs can bonk you if you stare at them too much (and yea dont come with the shit about yEA jUsT CleAR a REalM anD Do SOlO ShaTTeRS because we all know only like 3-5$ of the players are xxxtruetrihardgamersxxx that do solo content and whith their gamer client they will never die anyway so)
The one thing I can say that’s against this video is I’ve been crashing o3s the last couple weeks just to learn the dungeon and I’ve seen a lot more smallgroup/guild runs that I’ve even heard of in a long time
oh actually thats kinda what i was supposed to say, small runs of o3 are incentivised and actually run in realm unlike other dungeons
Lowkey we need a guild update
There is nothing wrong with discord’s
I don’t understand what you mean about how they are “not new player friendly”.
