01:55 I love that it gives the option to have it frozen so you can take it home and cook it whenever you want.
Considering how dry that machine made it, probably the better option to cook it at home
us locals here aren't big on the vending machine meals especially when we can find cheaper and fresher food at hawker centres
they ain't got good stuff in u s vending machines
@@madlilpony2768 what are yours like? In aus the only ones I've ever seen are cold drinks (like soft drinks, water, chocolate milk etc), chocolates, lolis and packets of chips
@@BasementBubbatunde yeah thats basically the norm in the USA. My work has a special vending machines for meals, but thats cuz its a hospital that doesnt waste its food and sells it to employees in vending machines.
@@BasementBubbatunde junk food which is basically candy chip and so on. Others have just soda Gatorade and water. USA very basic vending machines because people don’t respect them. People always be kicking and shaking them so there are cages on some.
@@robertaBooey69 ohh okay so basically same as ours
This is one of the reasons why i love your channel. You don't sugarcoat your food reviews. Straight and honest opinions. Thanks for the video, Mike.
i really love how his reviews are fair and balanced, cheap junk food isnt judged the same as fine dining but he is capable of enjoying and criticizing both
I love how Mikey tries like 5 bad meals but keeps charging on 😂
Love this content x
YES! I envy his ability to eat so much in one sitting!
Hey, it's his money! But the information (to the rest of us) is like the advert said, priceless
@@pineapplepetcorneats Hope he hits the gym for a several-hour session afterwards to burn those calories. That’s a lot to digest and work off.
@@theodorehsu5023 He excersises every day i think? He gave that impression during his 2 week lockdown videos at least
@@bobjersey yea
It's kind of fun to see Mike try the vending machine meals! As a local, I wouldn't even go for those because there are 24 hour coffeeshops and 7-eleven local delights~ Glad someone took the taste test for us! 🤣
Agreed. I just added my comment n found yours....
😊
24 hour coffee shops my god it's my dream!!!
agree! at the start I was like "aiyo $7.. just go 7 11 can already"
This would be good in hospitals for night shift staff who can't just cruise out to the coffee shop or convenience store. Sure there is takeout, that costs an arm and a leg. I long ago learned to plan and prep ahead.
“Let’s see what the hot milk is”
Mike… I think it’s going to be hot milk
I read this comment the moment he said that lol
As a New Zealander, I can attest that hot milk is not a thing here unless coffee or hot chocolate is added. I can only assume that the milk is a NZ product.
@@robynandrews4384 It makes sense it's not like Singapore has a lot of grassland lol.
Gotta respect that he’s honest about the food. Too many reviewers say everything is “amazing”.
I was devastated when the door wouldn't open for your cotton candy.😭 I wanted to see that so bad and see you eat it. I would have been arrested for breaking down the door.🤣🤣
You need to get a life
My kid loves these, don''t do YT though so I just have to let you know here, they are visually appealing. The flavor of the one he chose though I didn't like in cotton candy. Watermelon/ vanilla. Each color has it's own flavor. I believe it's the blue one that is watermelon, so I now stick with giving my girl the pink heart which are berry flavored :D
Usually places like Singapore, Japan, South Korea, etc. have really rigorous food safety standards, so I wonder if there's some regulation for vending machine foods in Singapore where they had to heat those first meals within an inch of their lives.
That was my thought too but I wondered if it's because it sits in the machine for so long lol.
My wife and I have been to Singapore 8 times on Holiday. Its a good safe place to Holiday and the food is great.
HOpe you can come back soon!!
When Mike Chen knows more food varieties in Singapore than an average Singaporean 😀
HAHAH really! I agree!
truth 😂
Agreed 👍💯
Haha he definitely know more than me. 😊 I am Singaporean. 😂
Its almost like he does this for a living 😂
I think you should give the Chef in a Box another go again and do the frozen and take them back to wherever your staying and see if it cooks better there!!! And OMG I WAS SO MAD YOU COULDN'T GET THE COTTON CANDY IT LOOKED SO GOOD AND CUTE!!! And all the vending machines looked great and cool!!! And omg that restaurant sounds amazing and such an amazing deal for the foods!!!
As a Singaporean, never spend money on Chef in a box, instead take that money and visit a hawker , cheaper and fresher meals with that $5-$7. If you end work late, microwave foods at 7-11 is cheaper and better 😂
I would assume there are circumstances where Chef in a box is a necessity for many. So there is still a place for it, like if you don't have that long of a break for work and need something quick and easy and you don't have enough time to go to a Hawker center or 7-11. Like if you work in those malls and need a quick lunch, Chef in a box is a good thing to have.
Salted egg popcorn and cake in a can - I’m more than intrigued! As usual, hot oil saves the day!
Love your reviews, Mike.
Mike filmed this inside a school gym sounds like
that hot milk reminds me of that office episode where pam asks michael if there’s coffee in his thermos and he says “milk and sugar” and she drinks it and it’s actually just milk and sugar lol
I give you credit for managing to make it through several bad dishes to get to one or two worth eating. I don't think I could do that! That last restaurant is a pretty awesome idea, and sadly, I don't think it would fly here in the US for a couple of reasons.
these vending machines are 10x better than food court food or ANYTHING you can get in a university. this is amazing!!! so clean and organized! ❤
10x than a food court food? Hell nah
where are these universities are you talking about
@@duckve0322 universities in America for sure
If you know what you're looking for you can get some pretty good stuff at most food courts though
@@MegaCoconutcupcake depends on your taste bud, there are a lot of decent food here in university in the US. If you just want Asian food then the food at university might not be good
Yeah, those Eureka popcorns are straight up black magic, all those flavors and almost none of them miss! Crazily addictive
Late night vlog with Mikey yay 😀
Loving your Hot Oil set of 3. Was worried that it was going to be a little too spicey but it's perfection. The black bean sauce really comes in clutch when trying to cobble together something simple for dinner.
Mikey, the Eureka popcorns are way cheaper at Malaysia across the border. Im a Singaporean and love those popcorn too 😅
The thumbnail looks like barf and roadkill
Hi mike, here in Brazil we drink sugar cane juice with lemon too, there are other options such as ginger, pineapple, passion fruit, i think you would love to taste it hahaha, keep up the nice job my friend
Omg I missed SG a lot.. Im Malaysian that used to work in SG.. And the orange juice vending machine is my favorite.. I used to buy everyday after work.. I missed it so much.
Mikey Chen drops a vid, I click. Story of my life. 🤣
facts
2 vids in 1 day? Must be almost Christmas!
Hey mike, could you go off the beaten track and go to various food industrial parks around singapore where wholesale and food processing are done before delivery to hawkers. You can get first hand foods there . Try out!
I watched Dancing bacons try these vending machine, It's very nice to see Mikey trying these also
After seeing similar videos from DancingBacon this month I feel like they will meet on the streets if they haven't already.
DancingDumplingFilledWithBacons
Dancing bacon🥓 is a great YT channel :)
I hope so lmfao
hahah they should do a collab?
A collab would be awesome!!
buys vending machine food only to realize that it heats them up too long and dries all the food out.
knowing that they all with be overheated, he continues to buy 5 more.
i just cant with this guy.
I died at "They should really change the name of this to Curry Las Vegas Chicken because this chicken is one of the driest things I ever put in my mouth".
mike: this is not great. this is really dry. this is really not that good.
also mike: *keeps eating*
You forgot him saying, “this is not edible,” keeps eating. Lol
I just hope to one day be able to try half of the foods on Mike's channel. I'm from Louisiana so I have no fear. But I also am from Louisiana so I have no money to travel lol
Great review as always! I really enjoy the kids playing in the background. It's sounds like a family oriented place that very enjoyable
Love vending machine reviews please do more!
Love the popcorns! As a Singaporean, i’m proud of it. Can’t stop eating them. The vending machine foods are not that great tbh. Hope you enjoy your stay!
It's so funny! I'm from New Zealand and it's cheaper to buy New Zealand milk from a vending machine in Singapore than it is to buy in New Zealand 🤣
You're just not buying enough to get the volume discount. That or as a resident you're getting taxed way harder on it which, as an American, I deeply sympathize with.
@@THEUrinalCake how much are we meant to buy? 😂😂 3L is the biggest and is probably about $5.50
Yep, returned from Singapore a couple months ago and seeing NZ products cheaper then at home made me wonder why i bought a return ticket 😂
Same from NZ 🙋
We're you eating next to a daycare lol
You know it’s good when he says he is shook. Never heard him say that before. Love the content
A local supermarket here recently installed that same cotton candy machine and I swear it breaks down on a daily basis lol.
Welcome back to Singapore, Mike! Love your videos showcasing our local stuff here!
Singapore and Japan have great vending machines!
"Caution Hot"
Mikey handling it with his bare hands "Ouch ouch hot"
I live in New Zealand and ive never once had a glass of hot milk, that was pretty funny
Warm milk supposedly has benefits that help one sleep
"Man eats several rice dishes from vending machine"
I like to imagine he's eating all of these back to back just annihilating all the food in the machines lol
The way he says curry makes me LOL! coory
I would have persisted with that cotton candy, I carry tools and lock picks in my bag just for such emergencies.
I had the strawberry shortcake in a can and it tastes pretty good. Cream is not too sweet and the sponge cake is soft. I enjoyed it.
Vending machine mash-up food days are fun to watch what's available. Cake in a can and the lobster/cheese popcorn looked to be the best desserts. Love that chili oil!!!
Fellow Singaporean viewer of yours! Im loving all of the SG vlogs you posted up as always, keep em coming 🙌
I love them too! haha always learning new things about Singapore
I've had the Chef in the Box before. Some of the noodle dishes, I forget which. We were starving in one of the parks and there was no food to be found anywhere. I think that may be why we enjoyed our meal. 😅 I think when you're in a pinch, these aren't bad at all.
We have the cotton candy machines here in New York & any time I see them in any mall they are ALWAYS broken
You’re really enjoying yourself in Singapore 😊
Lobster cheese popcorn !? I want right now lol
Thank you for eating like a gentleman 😊! You are only the second one I found that does this with manners- no talking with a mouthful of food or food all over your face. You got yourself a new subscriber!
You're brave, one airport hot drink dispenser experience ruined vending machines for me. I ordered hot chocolate, got hot dead cockroache instead
Special treat
@@Yakuzish lol

Awesome looking food! That pop corn looked amazing! There are times when I could have done with the vending machine meals for sure! the dinner meal looked incredible! Great video!
You got my favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor! It’s the best. I find the vending machines so interesting in Asia. We need to step up our game here in the US lol
That cotton candy survived Mike Yeager/Attack on Titan. lol. 🤣
First video of yours I’ve seen and I like your style. Will stick around for more.
That bit about the Las Vegas chicken had me laughing so hard. (Because it's so dry)
The way he loves food makes me wish I could share a meal with him. I eat pretty basic and I would just love to learn how to eat like that and love food instead of just eating so I don’t faint.
I've been watching you for YEARS. Thank you for always making A+ content!!!
thats realy cool ive never seen a vending machine deliver hot food. I live in WV tho so theres a lot i havent seen lmao
Is it just me or Mikey talks while his mouth is still full and/or chewing something? I just realize this after watching him for years
Good to see you back with the content Mike 💚 , Keep up the greattt worklkk 👍🔥🔥
It’s cool that you can buy it frozen. Then you can just grab it on your way home and microwave it gently!
"My sambal is now a cracker" - Words that I would never expect to hear in one sentence
I love Mike's commentary. I appreciate him sharing his knowledge.
I noticed that you can buy the dishes frozen and heat them up at home. I'd buy 6 or 7 boxes frozen and make them at home...
In Salzburg, Austria, there are some "24/7 e-Kiosk" (vending stores opened 24/7) with a huge variety and a nice way to get something to eat when you take a night train or an early train before the "regular" shops open... I tried it several times now and only got disapointed by the ID check when you try to buy alcoholic drinks like beer. You have to hold your ID in front of a camera and the glass in front of the camera had a lot of dust on it, so it couldn't read my ID. I contacted the company that services these machines and the problem got fixed within 2 days.
The only way True Cost could work is either
A) All labor and overhead is donated/charity-supported
or
B) The same people who own the restaurant own the ingredient suppliers, and thus charge the restaurant a premium price for ingredients, which is then used to pay the restaurant's staff.
I always found it interesting how in terms of the US dollar meals are cheaper in other countries especially in these vending machines, but that the new machine meal would be like $18 or more in the states
So much variety in the vending machines there.
Omg...I'm dying watching him eat the popcorn hes like this is sooooo good lol I was lmao!!!!I love you Mikey ,another FANTASTIC VIDEO!!!!You are the best!!!!!!What happened to Christine???I never even see her hand in the video anymore??!!,IM ALWAYS AVAILABLE LOL ,YOU ARE SOOOO HANDSOME!!!!🤩🤗👍👍
Sooo so sorry he still married, she's taking a law course 😆
@@annnoble7739 Oh thank you for letting me know, I was wondering where she was
Mike is the best when it comes to food. Just love watching his Singapore Food videos. I am so hungry now.
Mike: “Hmm, let’s try what the hot milk is “ 😂😂😂
I didn't realize restaurants had such low profit margins! , that's why you have to choose hi, med or low volume , versus low, mid or high quality food service in line to profit .
That True Cost restaurant is super surprising. If they're charging ingredient price, how do they pay for overhead and labour?
After the very dry chicken, why did you get 3 more meals from the same vending machine?
But love most of your videos Mikey, especially the older ones!
Oh no, always try not to bring outside food into the foodcourt and eat there, unless you order something from the foodcourt first 😋
hahaha mike says shook @15:59 .......too funny!
xD lol being malaysian its kinda funny hearing him say "bagus" ... Mikey the word Bagus is Pronounced " Ba-goose " and its a malay word it translates to "great" so the nasi lemak is called " Great nasi lemak " love your vids mikey >< keep it up
Make hot oil packets. Like squeeze packets of ketchup. Traveling hot oil packets - leave the glass jar behind.
Better title for this episode: dry inedible meat in vending machines
mike is eating snacks and drinks from vending machines in a private food court again! did any auntie scold him for bringing outside food into her food court??
🤣🤣🤣 it gave me anxiety too
He did that in Japan too I believe which is a big NO NO
Mike just forgo the trapped cotton candy! Rich guy 😆
That sugar cane juice looks awesome! 👍😊👏 I love your videos. The variety of vending machines is amazing. 👍👏 Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍🇨🇦😊
Love these vending machines! but do you know you can also order online from Chef in a Box and have them delivered to your home? I used to do that all the time for convenience!
It’s crazy to see how other countries use a lot of meat flavors in snacks because meat is crazy expensive in each of their respective countries vs the U.S we have no meat flavor chips or snacks
Hey Mike! Amazing video!
Every meal is dry.
Heng crispy chili is nice too. Recommended to try it. 😊
Love the content mike
Mikey you have the best job!travel and eat different local foods and experiencing different cultures, meeting different people
Microwaves can't heat ice.
They heat other materials, which melt the ice;
Then, microwaves focus on liquid water to heat.
It is very different than an oven.
Microwaves also heat from boiling the water inside to outside,
rather than outside to inside.
This result is the food being soggy on the outside but dry on the inside.
Ovens do the opposite.
First time I have watched your content, but already a fan very informative you have got yourself a new subscriber
