Haha I've opened nothing with those. I'm going to open the pet food now...just so I can say I've used 70 dollar scissors for something. And I'm trrrrying to get a MK4 from spiritus for my lv119 review
I've been using my flatpack 1.0 for many years, but I'd been putting up with the knots the straps came in. I just assumed "Well, this is a weird system but they were the ones who made it so maybe it's the best way?" so it never occurred to me to try a different knot. Your method at 10:54 is a lot cleaner, glad I saw it!
You would want the Flatpack flat if you are putting on a bigger 72 hour pack. Chest rigs are used if you still need gear, but do not need/want the protection or weight of a plate carrier. Usually for rucking style missions.
You would also need cody as a battle buddy to get anything out of a pack that is connected to your armor. Good info thanks for all the work on this one.
Would be cool of that pack could attach to a Molle rear Velcro placard then the pack attaches by just slamming it against the Velcro. To remove have a dog leash type tether that can wrap around any pole, tree or whatever that you attach to a protruding loop on the pack then simply walk away from the tether and it rips the pack off of your back……of course if there is no battle buddy to yank the pack off for you. You could also have some fairly accessible clips to secure the pack in addition to the Velcro.
I do run and gun competitions so this set up without armor is what I need. In this scenario I want the water on my back and removing the chest rig to access the flatpack is no biggie.

I've tried it, it doesn't work well and makes a pretty solid mess. only the beez combat system does it in a way that's even usable... maybe tracer too but I haven't had that one in hand
I think you ignored one of the benefits of the Flatpack, that it can be used as a pseudo compression sack. I have one of the original flatpacks attached to some cheap MOLLE chest rig panel with Kywi pouches. A sudden storm rolled in while I was attending a carbine course 2 years ago. When everyone else was running to their cars to get rain gear, I just pulled mine out of the compressed pack. You can fit a surprising amount of soft goods in there and still squeeze it down, allowing you to carry that stuff without having a bigger pack on your back bumping into things.
@@ThinLineDefenseCo It really didn't weigh anything with the rain gear in it. I actually put a loaded mag in it as well to help balance out the front placard. I also switch out the Kywi's for an admin pouch loaded with first aid gear when I go for day hikes, leaving the rain gear in the pack. Yes that tiny bag looks a little funny, but it's almost like carrying nothing at all when I'm climbing through crags and such.

Silly question here, once the Flatpack is on the back of the plate carrier, how can you reach anything into the Flatpack?
