Bruce is such a looker! The bump does not look that noticeable or anything, glad he didn't lose any toes or anything in shipping. So excited to see him grow and get comfortable with you.
Blue tongue skinks are definitely a dream reptile. I've wanted one for 8 years and I finally got my Northern in October. Jackie is everything I thought he would be.
@LeopardGeckoTalk, I just really want to say thank you. I recently got a Super Snow Leopard Gecko, his name is Zym. Your advice has been so helpful, and I love seeing all your leopard geckos, (especially Maui, he's just so sweet and funny) TYSM! Btw Bruce is just... Adorable😋
What a beautiful little skink! It's a shame the breeder shipped them all in one go but it looks like he got away relatively unscathed. I've recently got a 3 year old northern and the poor guy has been battered :( I got him from a reptile shop and they said the previous owner kept him with another skink. He's lost a toe, his head and tail are completely covered in damaged scales. All his claws are in bad condition too, the vet thinks they were probably very badly clipped by a previous owner. Thankfully a trip to the vet confirmed he is in good health and will have a much better life now in my care! He's a little shy still but he was the sweetest guy in the shop and loved being handled, can't wait for him to settle in and come out of his shell
Congrats! He's awesome. Can't wait to see him in future videos. Glad this one popped up. Yt never puts your videos in my feed for some reason, so I always have to catch up every two or three months.
Thanks! And aw that sucks, you haven't got it set to certain categories that you can see? I haven't posted a main vid in a while so maybe thats why lol
Ive been keeping a merauke blue tongue for 5 years now and he is an absolute gem, such a sweet little sausage. The stereotyp of indonesian being mean is just due some of them being wild caught, in my expierence captive bred indos can become just as docile as the australians. I do incorporate wet dog food into his diet every now and again, one just has to use high quality stuff without grain in them
Aw nice! Yeah I super shocked at just how chill he is. Like he hasn't once opened his mouth and showed me his tongue in a defensive way, or really even hissed at me. He's just occasionally huffed.
Aww nice! and thank you :) Yeah the tank is surprisingly robust and quite straightfoward to put together. It was between PVC or a wooden viv but everywhere said a wooden viv would rot, so I am glad I went with PVC. :)
My understanding is that Indonesians are often wild caught because Indonesia still exports their animals, while Australia does not. I have a Pink Tongue and would LOVE a Bluey eventually!
Yeah, I thought there'd be more info on their wild habitat and behaviour etc considering so many are taken from the wild, but I couldn't find as much as northerns. Nice, I feel us Pink tongue skink owners are rare haha
Yayy! Bruce is adorable. I have 3 eastern blue tongues, my oldest is now 8 years old and he’s enormous. He lives in a 4x2x2 (idk if you remember but you reviewed my setups), I’m currently saving up to upgrade him and my second skink into 5ft enclosures and also getting them better lighting.
Omg yes I think I've only ever reviewed one set of BTS setups, so that must have been you :) Easterns are cool too, I've yet to see one in person, but they're cute.
Finding care for skinks in the UK is so hard, and even in the USA where they are so common if you type in 'blue tongue skink' very few videos show up. I got my northern high yellow blue tongue recently, it was kind of a rescue situation so he's currently in a 4 foot enclosure even though he's 4 and fully grown but even that size he had to get used to. He was originally in a breeder rack, there was like 8 other adults and 10 babies. He came to me with a stubby tail and his gender is unknown but we've also decided he was a 'he' and his name is peanut. It was fitting as he's my biggest animal (others being a bunch of frogs, a leopard gecko, and an africa fat tail gecko). That being said, I'm surprised you don't have an AFT, their tanks are definitely 'better' than leopard geckos' in the sense that you can grow plants with their need for a more humid environment. I have a custom background for my leopard gecko and she's in a nice big 3ft vivarium displayed under our TV, but my AFTs tank is definitely my favourite (other than the new amazon milk frog tank I'm setting up, now THAT is gorgeous). Peanut was only on dog food his entire life so getting him to eat a varied diet like I'd like him to has been hard. He will literally hide from his greens. He does love brocoli and bananas which is super entertaining to watch.
Aww wow poor guy, it is really shocking how some people keep their skinks. I found Elle's Reptiles and Reptilian Garden to be very good channels for skink info :) There's just so many types, it can be hard to narrow the info down. Yeah I think because I already have 4 leos, an AFT would kind of feel like I'm keeping another leo but in a tropical tank haha.
Blue tongue skinks are the best, I've had my northern for 3 months and he's awesome. His favourite foods are apple, snails and silkworms. He goes seriously crazy for those!!
@@leopardgeckotalk Silkworms are definitely worth trying, skinks seem to love them. At least, mine was prowling around the tank looking for more after he finished them haha.
My Indonesian BT skink’s favourite food seems to be hard boiled egg (mixed in with some veggies to get him to eat them). He also likes hornworms (as treats), Repashy Bluey Buffet, Repashy Veggie Burger, canned papaya, and fresh berries. He isn’t the biggest fan of greens, but he’ll still eat them occasionally. He likes crickets, but only if I kill them beforehand lol. He’s refused to eat snails, squash, or quail eggs which is kinda odd because that’s what they’re supposed to like. I don’t offer cat/dog food, he’s healthy without it
Thanks! Ah yeah I opted for locust because they're a bit slower. He's intrigued by crickets but doesn't always move quick enough haha. I've tried a raw egg but he wasn't interested so I may have to try boiled egg with him some time :)
I knew it was a Bluey! You'll love their derpyness and friendly personality - even though yours is still a baby it looks more switched on than mine does at 8 years 😂
Congrats! Ive never seen an axanthic BTS before and I really enjoy it! Now you have me considering getting one in the future. ❤❤ Looking forward to seeing more of Bruce, hes adorable 😍
haha thanks :) Yeah I must admit when I first held him in the shop and saw his tongue was so pink I was like omg, where's the blue tongue?! But I think that's down to the axanthism lol
Awww I love that he likes sitting on your back!!! I have a leo, a crestie, and a fire skink and for some reason all three love sitting on the back of my neck/ my back. Its so funny
Such an amazing creature and a fascinating video. As I have a 4x2x2 foot Viperia vivarium for my leopard gecko, which I'll assemble in the spring for her to move into a bigger home, I'm really looking forward to the vivarium build and first week videos
@@leopardgeckotalk I think she'll use all of the space including the height as I often see her at the top of her 3 foot viv next to the air vent viv, lying on a ledge next to the air vent - I guess there is a warm breeze there!
Crazy I didn't know they needed at least 6 feet in length. I always thought they needed 120 gallons or a 4x2x2 tank. Even googling now the recommended size still says 40 gallons which is horrendous! I've always wanted a blue tongue skink as well but the only thing holding me back was the cage size requirement. I would much rather get another uromastyx or a rescue bearded dragon.
You can get other type of food for a cornsnake it's like a sausage and it's filled with nutrition for the snake but I think there only available in US not sure they were made for people who don't like feeding mice but Bruce is ❤

Aww Tokay's lowkey kind of scare me hahaa, I did see some in the shop but they were wild caught. I'm not sure if that's common - like if they're difficult to breed in captivity. Regardless, they're pretty awesome and have amazing colouring :)
Who’s the breeder of this guy? Not a lot of people manage or try to breed Halmahera’s although for axanthics there’s probably more effort, they’re usually captive born at most though
Female snakes are bigger. You said you thought the corn snake was a male because he was massive, but female snakes top out around a foot longer than males of the same species.
When they are adults one can sometimes sex them when they poop one told me, maybe you can ask a breeder or a vet if its true...I dont have skinks so i dont know

Can you please do another suplements schedule video again, since the new arcadia d3 suplement
Ooo Arcadia have a schedule on their website for when to use which supplements, but I can always do a video sometime.

Nice! :D
Omg hes sooo beautiful! Im so glad ypu got one, I want one really bad but I dont have the space
