  • This week we explore Itbayat and Sabtang!
    Especially Itbayat get's overlooked by many visitors of the Batanes region.
    NOTE article is coming up!!!
    Both are beautiful islands, with their own charm. What you'll find here will be peace, quiet, nature and beautiful people!
    What I saw in Itbayat:
    A local Filipino wedding in Raile (if I remember correctly)
    Torongan Cave
    Torongan Hills
    Viewdeck
    Rapang Cliff
    Paganaman port
    Sleeping:
    In Itbayat I slept at Miss Cano's place.
    What I saw in Sabtang:
    I combined the two tours Sabtang has, so to see all of the island.
    Savidug village
    Chamantad Tinyan viewpoint
    Morong Beach
    Malakdang Lighthouse
    Limestone Arc Formation
    I slept at miss Margie's place in Sabtang. A driver just brought me here since many of the other guesthouses were fully booked.
    Note that all guesthouses cost 300 pesos - no matter where you sleep!

    Music.
    Also this time I used many CC music - big thumbs up and love for all the amazing artists!!

    We survived :D The famous rough ride to Itbayat. It's all worth it. The northern most inhabited island of the Philippines is simply BEAUTIFUL! If you go to Batanes and you have time on your hand, it's definitely a must see.

    can someone from DOT(dept. of tourism) hire this woman to promote the country..your travel vlogs are great, calm & relax, nice editing with no fancy edm songs, nice to see some local participation, educational, and with your smooth calm voice...hehe

    RUclips is messing up the thumbnails. So when you see the one where I look utterly bewildered - please forgive me! If all is working fine again, you'll get the thumbnail that was promised ;)

    • @HereBeBarr
      @HereBeBarr 8 лет назад

      RUclips loves to do that, did it to my last vlog to :( I love your filming, that's my biggest weakness. You keep nice steady shots at all times.

    • @TravelGretl
      @TravelGretl  8 лет назад

      It's also WARP stabilizer going over it and the camera doing some of the stabilisation for me ;) Of course a gorillapod every once and then helps! Yeah, RUclips is aseholly about thumbnails this week! There are many more complains about this behind the scenes...

      Well common foreigners always visit mainstream tourist spots and would settle themselves with convenience.
      But you're always up for an adventure and tries almost everything even though its uncommon and bizarre. You even hang out with the locals and that's totally amazing of you 😊.
      By the way are you planning on traveling back to the Philippines again? I'm really looking forward to your videos and I enjoy them 💞.

It is great to see that you as a foreigner find Batanes so beautiful contrary to majority of Filipinos that prefer going in abroad just to get for a short vacation. I hope you should come back here in Philippines and make another video blog.

    I've been to Batanes twice. But, I took the Itbayat tour during my first vacation. It's true, it's a rough and tough ride to be in that boat going to Itbayat. Plus, u must be a person of balance to be able to hop on their very basic port. It's exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. But above else, the view in Itbayat is gloooorrrioooous! I appreciated the rough travel going there. Worth it!

    Travel Gretl is one of my favorite. Her videos are so clear, she explains everything well, the camera angle, cinematography are just amazing. Just want to fly there the next day. She goes beyond to travel and explore where most Filipinos haven't even been there. Like me hehe... I don't like touristy area too, they ruin nature.

    • @TravelGretl
      @TravelGretl  8 лет назад +1

      Thank you!! People can be pretty bad to places and other people, even when they don't have bad intentions and just come as tourists... I always think I'll never be able to fully know what I squash under my feet - but really try to be aware :) Thanx for appreciating the vids, and the shots (yeey, people notice :) - have a good evening!

    First,I like to thank you Miss Gretl for posting this video.Very nice presentetion.I didn't know about Batanes until now.It's a beautifull place and so different from other places in the Philippines.It looks like a different country like Norway maybe or Ireland.If only the Philippine gov't now do something to keep developing Batanes,It will attract many tourists in the future.No doubt.More money will be coming in.

      True, though I also cross my fingers for the government to really start thinking about preserving everything. Not sure what they do about it already, but the money will flow for a few years, though much more can be broken in that time. So I think there should be a double focus :)

    You are perhaps a little braver than I would be...to leave all amenities behind for a few days to explore these islands. But what a beautiful place! And how wonderful to get to know the people and the culture in a way you could not if staying in hotels and touristy areas.

    Also visited these two islands during my trip my Batanes. I remember stopping by to visit the rolling hills on the way to the village of Chavayan. Had some wonderful photo session there with my companion. I didn't see much of the stone house village in your vlog but I remember going to one village there in Sabtang. All in all, this is again a very good vlog!

      Thanx! It's true, they're only a bit there :) I think that is because I am more a fan of nature and people than of buildings in general ;) haha. Love it you've also been to Itbayat!! That was my personal favorite in Batanes :)

    Gretel you just visited my most favorite place in the world! Ive made some acquiantances there and been returning a few times already. Its good to see that you discovered Itbayat! I must say, aside from the grand beauty, the people and the experience is very humbling to the core. Very very personal experience for me that touched my life!

    The eastern seaboard of Luzon Island starting from Appari down along the seacoast and east of the Sierra Madre Mountains down to Baler is untouched by tourists. Transportation and accommodations could be a problem though. Well, you're a charming traveler and my countrymen are known for their hospitality, that's an excellent ingredient for adventure. Good luck and enjoy!!! As always, take good care of yourself.
