    That’s why we Nigerians are so determined to succeed. My Nigerian mom told me my mates started making money at 7😭😭. All Nigerians have things our parents have told us😂😂

    Lol when she says "when your mates..." She doesn't mean the people he hangs out with,she means people of the same age as him.

      Yes, in Nigeria, it’s short for ‘age mates’ or contemporaries.

    Not all African mothers are like this, but they can be dramatic. My mom used to say she would wreck us before we went astray. It worked for me 😂😂 I'm better because of her guidance and love.

    Am 31 now this friendship thing of girls and boys doesn't work in our African homes it ends at school,in my house hold ,we got no friends visiting us and we didn't visit friends, dressing code every family had a rule on this 😂,I started wearing short clothes and pants at university but due to that strictness from home I never exposed my body so short is on the knees 😅 till today my aunt doesn't entertain pants on women so going home we go in dresses or skirts, currently strict on some areas with my own kids 😅

    Here in Nigeria, people only go the extra miles to dress up for Sunday services but they don't put so much effort in midweek services because you have a lot of people coming in from work and a lot of students coming in straight from school . People just dress casually 🤷🏽‍♀️

  • @neomontja71
    @neomontja71 Месяц назад +10

    Hahaha Ojo’s mom “What I see, you won’t see”. What an older person see standing a child cannot see climbing on top of a tree . That’s African parents for you 😂😂😂. In our bible studies people would be coming from work and school and on a Sunday service people so they would be dressed as such. In an African home you can’t sleep when the sun is out, you better wake up before it comes out😂. I see money disappearing, OMG 😂.

    Lol my mum used to feed the neighborhood every weekend. She was a govt official, she would use her monthly salary to cook for the neighborhood. So she knew everyone and everything, she would tell me she hopes I am not planning to go to so n so party, and I had already planned my outfit. People talk when they are hungry, and when they are well fed. We would drive 1 or 2 hours out to other neighbourhoods to hang and meet new people

    Realy love your vids, beign following u guys for quite some time. Also She saying his sleeping by 4am doesn't mean she's comparing him to the street boys our yahoo boys as they're called here in nigeria who work especialy at night till dawn, nigeria especialy lagos where they reside is a very busy and competative place where people wake as early as 3:30-4:00 pm preparing for work so in essence she simply hate him beign jobless that time of the day.

  • @oma7698

    This is the staple diet in typical Nigerian homes. Parents and older folks tend to exaggerate. Probably it’s believed that the ‘shock value’ of their exaggeration will spur you into immediate action. And the habit is passed on from generation to generation. No one wants their child idle and Nigerian parents are always pushing their children to be the best they can be, and to be better than themselves. That’s why Nigerians are highly motivated and in conducive environments, and even in less conducive ones, we press forward for success. Success may mean different things to different people but everyone is pressing towards what they think it is. There are no state benefits and no social security, so you have to learn how to ‘benefit’ and ‘secure’ yourself early on!

    In the mid week at least in Delta state, Nigeria its casual but on Sundays best be dressed to impress the Lord properly, no casual 😅
    Then mates is like 'age mates'
    Then for those friends I agree with mumsie most times she may have seen them doing something then she over reacts

    In most African churches, you dress up every Sunday. Jeans is almost unacceptable not unless you are a child. I am speaking from experience as a church choir member. African Parents are not easy at all, and in my case is my daddy who takes on the role of Ojo's mother. My mother is pretty chill although she's still an African mother after all.
